It's the limited surface area of the MJ radiator that causes all the cooling issues with v8 swaps. S-10s have more square inches. I'd recommend finding the best radiator possible that fits in the stock location (meaning a high quality 3-core). Of course, if you already have a 2-core, that I guess it won't cost anything to try it and see. :thumbsup:

I paid $30 to have my 2wd driveshaft shortened.

You'll need to move the perches of the XJ rear axle.

The shortbed MJ has a whopping 12" more wheelbase than an XJ. A longbed only has 6" more than that. The departure angle is the real bummer for the LB, but it's helped by fabbing a better bumper that doesn't hang down so low. Rocker guards are very important for all MJs. The big choices to make are long or short bed, auto or manual, A/C or not and 4.0L or 2.5L. Those are the hardest swaps.

Passed out my first magnet yesterday. Guy at a rest area was having overheating issues with his 4banger. I tried to lend a hand but he seemed to have it under control. Then today I left a magnet in the glovebox of an MJ about to be for sale at the junkyard (whole, not for parts). I left my phone number with the guy if it does go for sale. :D

Let the truck sit for as long as possible before you pull the pan. And I'm talking a couple DAYS if you can. Even then, you'll still have drips coming down while you scrap away at the leftover gasket material. I also highly recommend the one-piece rubber gaskets. :D

OEM brakes? :hmm: I went to the local auto parts store with the fittings I recovered from the MJ and some measurements and just bought pre-made straight tubing with the ends attached. Get the right pieces and a simple bender and bam, all new lines! :D You'll need 2 or 3 lengths put together to reach all the way to the back (even if that's not the line that burst, it's a common failure point due to rust next to the gas tank). Now is a great time to delete the rear prop valve too. :brows:

Can we get a "suggested" price on items? Yes, money is tight, but I'd like to make sure I at least cover your cost on my request. It's sorta hard to do that. For example, the 40" inside-the-windshield decals cost me $5 each, while 30" ones were practically free and the other 40" ones were literally free. The per-item price of the other stuff is pretty low, but the minimum order crap makes it expensive to me. But right now I'm just trying to give the people what they want: a way to show pride in the club and a way to help out with expenses. I'm not looking to bring in tons of money here. I've got over $250 sunk into the stickers/decals/magnets, not to mention the annual fees for the site. I figure that it'll take a while before I break even, so I'm not worried how fast I get there. :D

There wasn't any ventilation in that one, but the current edition has one tube in and one tube out. The filter is at the end of the vent tubes for the 2 axles and t-case. I'd do the trans too, but I was afraid I'd snap the little plastic cap off so I figured if the water line got that high I had bigger things to worry about. :D

I ran a big old split wire loom along the back for all my extra wires. I put screws through it to the truck rather than securing it with a bunch of zip ties so it was easier to add wires later on. And no, I don't use that bottle to catch the blowby oil anymore. It was too small so I stepped up to a gallon jug. :D

Personally I like Chiltons better, just I haven't seen any for sale near me for years. Every store has the Haynes manuals though. 87-90 the trucks are very, very similar and if you find a deal on any of those years I'd snatch it up.

I recommend a Haynes shop manual if you don't have one yet.
