  1. I was hoping for something stronger than 10.9, but I guess I'll be making due. Thanks guys!
  2. Wait, you're not going to spend 200 on those rims alone are you? I'm not sure they are worth it if you're going to buy more tires later.

    Craigslist

Neutral meeting locations can be used sometimes. But with the internet, it's not really all that hard to track down someone's address using a phone number, email address, etc.
  4. By my calculations that comes to a 30x10.5" tire. I think it'd work just fine. The worst that happens is some mild rub on the control arms, but that can be fixed with a washer under the steering stop. If you ask nicely, the guy may even let you bolt one up to the front of your truck to check fitment.
  5. You should be able to pick up a decent XJ for like a grand. Then you'd have parts-commonality. :D And there's always the option of used tires.
  6. I've got 3 (one of wheelin', one for haulin', one for drivin') and have been guilty of eying a 4th (whose purpose I haven't figured out yet). Thank goodness I don't have money or space for more. :D
  7. One is bent, one was cut, and another other has permanently bonded itself to the bushing sleeve. I would use the ones that came with the rust-free florida packs I'm installing, but I think I scavenged them for use in the '90 after I had to cut several of its bolts to get the leaf packs off. Rust sucks. I'm going to use half a bottle of anti-seize on the next ones.
  8. Yes, 30x9.5 will fit. Although some individuals have experience a small amount of rubbing on the lower control arms when at full lock (and sometimes only at full lock and going backwards). The 15x6" rims may exacerbate this. I wouldn't even recommend the 29x10.5s on the 15x6" rims. Too much difference in widths Look for some 15x7 stock rims at least. 15x8 would be best. And I would look for a used tires/rims combo before considering new. There are plenty of good deals out there. Heck, I sold the tires/rims you see below on the 86 for like 400 and the only had a couple thousand miles on them. craigslist.org is your friend. :D I picked up a set of decent Jeep 15x7 steelies last year for like $40. This is my 88 on 30x9.5" BFG ATs on 15x7 Jeep rims. I experienced no rubbing.
  9. For those of you that needed to replace the 14mm leaf spring bolts, where did you get them? Online source? Or what did you go with if you couldn't get an exact match? The best my local hardware store has in 14mm is an "8.8" strength (comparable to grade 5) and I was hoping to find some in "10.9" (or better if I can, since I somehow managed to bend one of the 10.9s I had previously).
  10. Yeah, they are having trouble giving the dangs things away. You didn't turn the MJ in as a "trade", did you?
  11. I gotta imagine either one would work. Free stuff can be cool. :D
  12. Yeah, you guys have fun. Take lots of pics. I want some action shots!! My baby will be spending the weekend in the garage. A victim of too much rust and too many broken bolts. :(

    New Jeep!!

Nice find! Having the dana44 rear should mean you have 3.73 gears.
  14. Those rims (assuming that you can get the tires removed for free) might be worth $40 at the scrap yard near me. Maybe other places are offering more.
  15. I didn't get to do much in them (since I never do much with the 86 any more), but for a while I had the 29x10.5s on aftermarket 15x8 rims on the 4x4 86. No rubbing that I remember. They are about the same as a 30" tire (super swampers tend to run true, where as other manufactures run small). They used to be my sister's TJ and when it was turned in I had to put them somewhere. :D Personally I would have preferred a set of Jeep TJ 15x8 rims. The extra inch of width pulls the tire out away fro the control arms slightly.
  16. I would try the SOA and see what happens. It's dirt cheap to try it. Keep your stock leaf perches on and you can always go back and do a SUA with 4" packs if need be.
  17. I sold mine for 100. They looked worse than yours and had barely good 30" BFGs on them.

    great ad...

http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/pdx/20083352.html Reminds me of the time that someone stole the barely-functioning radio out of my buddies truck (FM sorta worked, CD player was toast). We not-so-secretly wished he'd sell it to a real mean guy that would kick him in the junk for selling him junk. :brows:

    Allergies

Surprisingly enough, pollen doesn't seem to affect me much. :hmm: I've got allergies to just about everything else though. Well, the non-lethal ones at least. Cats, dogs, dust mites, evergreens, etc. I even developed an allergy to antifreeze from the long term exposure I got at a former job. For nose related allergies I can usually get by with a decongestant.
  24. Yup, tomorrow I'll be out in the garage, sweating to death.
