    MJ 2wd

What's wrong with having a #3? I'm looking at getting my 4th (5th if you count the one I no longer have). :D

    CHAT ROOM

I tried it a while back. And failed miserably. I'm just not computer savvy enough to get it running right. :( I really need to find someone close enough to me that they can show me on my computer how to make better use of cPanel. The online web instructions apparently aren't dumbed-down enough. It's always been on the to-do list. I should probably bump it up higher on the list. :hateputers:
  3. Some MJs came with benches with headrests.
  4. Classifieds generally go in the classifieds, but we may have a better solution for you. MJ bucket floor brackets are the same and MJ bench floor brackets. The issue becomes the center sliding rail section. The straight sliders are best and the most like MJ sliders. The curved sliders will raise the seat up a couple inches. Not exactly good for tall folk. Also, 4door XJ seats won't fold forward, but 2door XJ seats will.
  5. Don't tell anyone, but 2 of the leaf I was running on the 88 were partially welded back together (meaning that they weren't quite cracked all the way through). I was that desperate for MJ leafs at the time and didn't know any better. My cracks were in the same place, at the bolt. I decided that even if the temper died, it was still smashed flat by the center bolt and probably wouldn't matter anyway. :dunno: :D
  6. I did that. I went with Rhino lining. Now my rockers are rotted out, the liner is peeling and it's an absolute mess. Others have had better results. On a side note, I would not go with Rhino again. The spray-on procedure is very complicated and does not lend itself to accomplishing weird spray patterns and does not allow fixing problems as they arise during the process. Once you turn on the spray gun, you can't turn it off. Use your imagination.
  7. Worth a shot.
  8. I ask about rust because our trucks have a tendency of rusting from the inside-out. If you plug any drain holes it can get really bad really fast in some parts of the country.
  9. Explain please I believe he's referring to the upcoming pres election. :teehee:
  10. Bringing this post back in the hopes that 99ncxj may have found a solution. It appears that I'm experiencing the same thing. The bleeding went fine and the pedal feels normal when the truck is off. Fire it up, and the pedal loses all resistance and the braking is very minimal. I've got 4wheel disks now so there's no real adjustment in the system as in drums. I'm stumped and am looking for ideas before I start yanking the booster out.
  11. How bad is rust in your neck of the woods?
  12. Say-Bil, Sta-Bil, Sta-Bil. The stuff works great. Never had a problem with any small or big engine since I started using it, no matter how long the storage was. Heck, the fuel that I just used up in my Dakota was purchased when gas was closer to $1.50/gal. Truck ran great on it when I finally pulled it out of storage. :D For engines that regularly see storage, I also buy premium fuel for the extra octane. I figure it can't hurt.
  13. ahhh, so it's the next election. Gotcha.
  14. I don't know about that. I beat a kid off the light while towing a trailer full of stuff in the CRD Liberty. :D In his defense, his car was full of his friends. Just too many people for that little engine to overcome. I could see his friends raggin' on him, at the next light (more traffic there so we couldn't go again). Long live TORQUE!!

    Comanches doubt

That's a very good question. After skimming through the various dealership brochures, I'd say it's about on par with the Pioneer, but with a different exterior look.
  16. No, they aren't going to create a black hole that'll swallow up the earth. On a completely unrelated note, I think I might hit the bars tonite. :D
  17. Maybe. This might just be me, but I think that "ricer" is more a mindset than anything else. Small cars pimped out on plenty of showy parts that don't help the driving experience (unless you regularly go 200 mph). I think of ricer meaning "poser with a little car". Sometimes it's hard to easily tell the posers from the guys that actually spend tons of money on engine hop-ups, brakes and suspensions parts that would keep up with a Vette. And that's where I think the derogatory part of "ricer" comes in. Kids with cheap cars spending money to look good, rather than perform good. But there are people like that in all classes of vehicular pastimes. Guys who jack up their truck 10 inches and never touch the dirt come to mind. Posers who want to look cool and look like they actually take part in cool activities (whether it be mudding or racing). On the other hand, I feel a bit sorry for the ricers. Stuck with small pocket books, it almost seems like they're doing the best they can to stand out from the crowd. So here's to you mister Ricer man! We may all be pointing and laughing at you, but if your goal was to get noticed, it worked. More power to ya.
  18. I do actually, as well as my truck's accomplishments (still blows my mind that it's in a freaking book). Although it isn't because of the "management" aspect of the site. It's way down at the bottom of the page with my other hobbies and pastimes (like the fact that I repair all my own and friends/families vehicles). My last 2 big jobs were handed to me because of my hands-on experience with repairs and tackling mechanical-minded problems. Who knew that being able to install an alternator would result in me fixing robotic laser-cutting stations. :dunno: I'd really like to get into the offroad parts field, but we'll see (I'd also like to be close to family too).
  19. For a quick and varied response, tech questions should really go in the tech forum. Not everyone checks the projects forums every day.
  20. My Dakota was made in Michigan (about a half-hour north of me) and my Jeeps were made in Ohio (about a half-hour south of me). Apparently I like vehicles built close to home (really really close to home). :dunno:
  21. 99% of those guys never get to do anything. If they all got through I'd be overwhelmed with deleting their posts. So instead, I have to approve everyone before they can post. Keeps 99% of them out, but every once in a while one of them is actually smart about the name and bio they put in and I approve them just in case they are real. Then it's to the spam-trap for them! And yes, I know I'm way behind with deleting their entries. It's not quite as easy/fast as I'd like and some days we get pummeled with 30 or more bots.
  22. Too bad neither of them can get last post on the super-ultra-secret forum. :D It's viewable only to mods and admin. I made it out of the old spammer forum so I can quickly throw spam-bot posts into it and then deal with them at my convenience (tracking IP #s etc.) without them disturbing anyone.
  23. Oh, and check the condition of the connector in the rear wire harness. It's located right behind the rear drivers side tire. Corrosion can build up in there.
  24. People have gotten used to the way the forums are set upand I'm sure you'll get more responses if you post where they expect it to be. The Tech section is for owners asking questions about MJs (either theirs or just in general). The Projects section is more for people asking questions about your MJ and for you to post updates on its progress. Not everyone looks in the Projects forum on a regular basis so if you're looking for a radiator tank, you should post that up in the classifieds. If you're looking for input on what to do, I'd post that up in the Tech forum (and they'll want to know what you plan to do with the truck; muddin or trail rides or street and 2-track only, etc and also your level of mechanical skills so be prepared). Oh, and car-part.com may be able to help you find a rad tank from an 86 MJ or 84-86 XJ (I don't know if the tank changed in 87 so after that might even work). Don't look for a tank though, look for 2.5L-specific parts like the engine or transmission and then call the junkyard to see if they still have the Jeep there.
  25. I'd look for a root cause that's been killing your pumps. How are the grounds? Specifically the one behind the drivers side taillight? If the tank has crud in it I'd clean it, or failing that, replace it.
