  1. Auto or Manual? Autos tend to idle a bit higher if I remember correctly. I'm at about 750rpm. Check your sensors, vacuum, clean your throttle body etc. I got a water bottle and sprayed water around the vacuum spots until I found leaks. The one going to the MAP sensor on the back of the motor (flat gray piece) has a small tube that likes to break.
  2. I know this is a bit repetitive but needed some feedback before I pulled the trigger. Last time I screwed up and took some modification that ended up messing some stuff up in my electrical system. 1992 HO 4.0 etc etc and got new cables from MeanLemons (thanks btw they look great!), new yellow top battery and now looking into a 136 amp alternator. Going to be running a winch and OBA (ARB dual compressor) and don't want to mess with trying to wire in a second battery. So to the actual question, this alternator should bolt right up with some modification to the bracket correct? http://www.ebay.com/itm/DODGE-VAN-TRUCK-DAKOTA-CHEROKEE-ALTERNATOR-136-AMP-/152218479520?fits=Year%3A1998%7CMake%3AJeep%7CModel%3AGrand+Cherokee&hash=item2370edaba0:g:v4oAAOSwgZ1XvxoK&vxp=mtr I'm not looking to cut the original harness if I don't have to and I know the plastic piece in the back of the alternator might need to be trimmed down to fit the connection. Also looks like I might need to swap out the pulley to get the full amperage. On another subject I'm going to look into getting and idle switch like the police packages used to have to increase the idle when winching. Thanks
  3. Same here. Soon as my motor rebuild is done I'm going to start looking at my AX15. No one here will rebuild them so going to be grabbing a fresh one off eBay most likely. Would like to convert it to external slave but clueless. Ive dropped an AW4 before but never messed with the AX15's.
  4. Head over to FSJnetwork and check out their stuff on it over there. Little different but not much. Front disc rear drum just like us and they're heavier. The boosters aren't much different from ours either.
  5. Yeah measuring from just behind the bump stop on the frame to right in between the u bolts is 10.5". My Springs are hell creeks 3+2 metric tons Sweet got General Springs 3+2 MT's. They had some special springs with an added 1 inch to the arch. Still sits lower than my fronts for some reason though. Appreciate you going and checking for me. Gotta measure at lunch today.
  6. If you ever get a chance and think about it would you get the measurement from your axle to frame in the back for me? Something seems off on mine.
  7. Looking for the caps and light harness for the license plate lights. Only need about 10 inches of wire or so if you want to cut but need both bulb holders and covers they stick into. Shipped to 73703
  8. Sweet the more pics the better! Going to be swapping out my 92 AX15 soon since chunks of metal are coming out when I change the oil and might as well go external slave.
  9. 31s with 3 inch of lift. Custom metric tons from general spring and a one inch lift shackle in the back. Spacers in the front getting replaced eventually
  10. I did decide on just going with a standard rebuild. I don't have any need for the extra power. She doesn't even see the highway much
  11. Yeah the price seems pretty high but that's pulled and installed turn key. Anything that doesn't need to be replaced knocks the price down. I'd try to do it myself but I still can't move my right arm above my shoulder from the truck dropping on me. If I could I'd get a brand new one and just install it.
  12. You wouldn't happen to have a suggestion for 70/30 on/off road. Mostly want it for the street but the build is going toward loading up a moose in backwoods Alaska and hauling it out. Not too overly worried about MPG since its a jeep but fresh motor either way shouldn't be getting 8mpg. Basically looking for a mild stroker build that is going to last a couple 100k miles with good maintenance.
  13. I've been running on 4 and a half cylinders since I've had the truck so not really sure. The only healthy 4.0 I've own was an LJ Rubicon. Talked to him about putting in a new 4.2 cam since it'd cost maybe 100 more if even that. I appreciate the response probably a dumb question hahaha.
  14. So about to pull the trigger on getting a complete rebuild turn key install that's going to cost around 2400$ With my injury and schedule trying to learn how to pull the motor after getting all the tools then fumbling through a rebuild just isn't an option. Still waiting on a few more quotes but so far this guy seems legit. Worse case scenario is the 2400$ and the price will come down depending on what doesn't need to be replaced (radiator, throttle body, water pump etc) since most that stuff was replaced less than a year ago. Anyway, to the point. I started poking around and everyone is suggesting to stroke it out. I don't know anything about stroker motors so I figured I'd hit up the forums and ask you guys. Titan sells a prebuilt motor that's not a stroker but its for higher performance. Trying to figure out if its worth even bringing up to this machine shop or just leave it alone and get the 4.0 HO over hauled and call it a day. Thanks
  15. Looks good. I might do the same for my stereo. It stopped getting power to the 12v constant awhile back so I tapped into the constant for the factory clock which I want to actually use one of these days. I'd have a CB, PA, Lights and down the road that ARB dual compressor hook into the actual terminal. Unfortunately the piece you have the box screwed into is completely cut out on mine because the PO decided to do a cowl induction snorkel (think it was his son that did it) so I might need to weld a piece of metal back on. Either way I'll find a good spot for it. Thanks for the pics! Just waiting on my new battery cables to come in then the motor is getting rebuilt. After that I need to start knocking out the little things like this and clean up the engine bay of wires and broken hoses.
  16. Sweet my biggest concern was with the switches being able to handle the lights. that fuse block is actually VERY nice. I have one on my other Jeep and it really cleaned up my battery post. I can snap a pic some time, if you want. That'd be awesome! Still new to this. Guessing the power hooks up to the box itself and the devices just ground themselves either on the body or at the battery?
  17. Monstaliner is supposed to be UV stable unless something changed. Durabak wasn't for awhile that's why I didn't go with it even though it's supposed to be more durable.
  18. Nope theyre used. Trying to find something like them but I'll just play it safe and use a relay and AUX fuse box so I have something to run my OBA down the road. I'm not sure what the factory switch is rated at which is my biggest concern. Trying to avoid a fire. I'm planning on picking up these relays and box. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QMTAZ1W/ref=pd_luc_rh_bxgy_01_02_t_img_lh?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&dpSrc=huc&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpID=51UG0KP8TNL https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QMTAZ1W/ref=pd_luc_rh_bxgy_01_02_t_img_lh?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&dpSrc=huc&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpID=51UG0KP8TNL
  19. So don't know anything about relays/switch or electrical in general. Got a couple free pod LED lights to go on my roll bar. Trying to figure out how to wire them and wondering if the factory fog light switch would be enough to handle it? Sorry I don't have anymore info on the lights they were pretty much handed to me because I was in the right place at the right time kind of thing. Thanks
  20. I had to double check which one I just ordered. AX15/NP242 combo on my MJ was a little concerned but they said it'll work with Azzy's
  21. 2 gallons by the way. Their rust stuff is legit too. On par with POR15 but cheaper (free with promotion)
  22. Monstaliner looks great and is more durable than regular paint but don't expect raptor liner or linex type of durability. If you're just looking for a daily that hits the trails a bit then monstaliner the thing and do something more durable on the bed. If you're looking for a daily driver that you plan on making look good or halfway restoring I'd just save up for regular paint. If its a rust bucket that you're just going to beat the crap out of Hercliner it and call it a day hahaha.
  23. Ok this week was kind of slow but some stuff got done. 2001 XJ doors installed with ZJ weather stripping Picked up a new to me bumper for 250 bucks and the biggest accomplishment she's alive and running again!!!! Threw in a new yellow top 34/78 Let the Wagoneer go today to. Using the money to re gear axles and fix some other stuff to get her back to full power.
  24. hahahaha Cruiser I appreciate it as always
