pull and sell all the pretty parts.... SOA, stroke and lock it, cut the fenders and go 35's  sorry, been hanging around Pat too long..... Jeff (all kidding aside, that's a clean looking MJ. If the floors are solid, I'd probably tune it and DD it.....)

  6. Let us know if you run into any costs Pete, we'll pass the hat around. You shouldn't have to foot the bill entirely, we ALL benefit from this site ;) Jeff
  7. it's the fill plug.... but I guess the engineers figured that noone would ever think about changing the gearbox fluid  I don't use that plug to fill, too much of a PITA for me. Just pull the shifter and fill it from the top. Take that plug out, and when fluid starts draining from it put it back in. Jeff
  8. Well, that.....yeah. Sawzall's coming out, or else I'm gonna pull the front flares entirely. It's got the turning radius of a garbage truck right now. I was looking at Mack's XJ on Saturday, think I'm gonna do what he did. I'm planning on bringing it to work tomorrow (interstate ride) so I'll report on the RPM's later. Just running around town, I can already tell they've dropped. And I can use first gear again! Jeff
  9. Thanks Rob, that 's the hole I was talking about. I had the same problem with the Felpro gasket bunching up, but it was in the front of the pan behind the harmonic balancer. Took it all apart and used some RTV blue and all's been good with mine since. Jeff
  10. Got them mounted today at Merchant’s Tire (and also spend 6 bills on new skins for the wife’s car). They only charged me for mounting/balancing for four tires, but they did all five….. Jeff Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  11. Yeah, my current 33's+4.56+65 mph = @2500 rpm It's doable, but this engine LOVES right around 2000-2100, hope I'll get right around there with the swap. And first gear is good up to about 6 mph right now....maybe I'll be able to use it again ;)
  12. you might need a longer speedometer cable also couple washers to shim the shift fork if you use a vac disco D30 Jeff
  13. thanks guys, it was one of those "right place at the right time" kinda deals...they came with a set of 15X10 alloys, which I already sold to another jeeper down here for $50. One of them has a minor sidewall cut (still holds air fine) that I'll run as the spare. I may tube it anyway, they are only 2 ply sidewalls. But for the price, I couldn't pass on them. Now with 35's, 4.56's and the 4.0 I should be back in the sweet spot on the highway. Jeff
  14. Set of five 35X12.5 Kuhmo M/T’s……..$130  Image Not Found Image Not Found Gotta get ‘em swapped onto the Cragars, maybe tomorrow…. Jeff
  15. Welcome....I like the taillights, keep 'em as they are. Jeff
  16. :agree: Stay tuned.....got a surprise coming tomorrow morning  Jeff edit: add keyword shadow, so I can find this friggin' post on a search for future reference purposes ;)
  17. does it have a part number on it anywhere?
  18. I've never come across one of those before.....battery sentinel, maybe :dunno: Jeff
  19. Black Pearl FTW and the logo is a little red "x'" :redX: Jeff
  20. ya never know......I just want to carry a spare in the toolbox to be on the safe side. Or else we haul my broken junk back on your trailer and you drive the Turd on the road :rotf:
  21. cool, so no issues with the spider gear walking or cross pin then? I'm carrying too much stuff as it is now, trying to lighten up some ;) Jeff
  22. If I wanted to carry only one spare D44 (rear) shaft, would a short-side shaft work on the long side for a trail repair? Or would you have to carry one of each size? Jeff
  23. funny you mention that location Rob.....I noticed on my 4.0 block when I took my starter out last week to drop the tranny that there is a machined hole on the "ear" of the block casting, directly above the starter. I never noticed it when I was rebuilding the engine, but saw it when I was underneath. It's about 3/4" in diameter, and I stuck my finger in it and it seemed to be open to the bottom end of the engine, but couldn't say for sure. If you drop a new seal in and pull your starter, do me a favor and check to see if you have the same hole as mine......I'm dying to know what it's for. Doesn't seem to make much sense to have an opening like that directly to the engine. Maybe oil is coming from there, if you have the same hole (???) Jeff
  24. MAT is on top of the manifold, behind the TB. CTS screws into the side of the manifold. Jeff
  25. That's step 1, the easy part: Image Not Found It's steps 2 thru 116,498 that are the biotch ;) Jeff
