  1. Will it fit in the garage now?
  2. Yes, this is how it usually works; provide the parts/labor estimate to whatever insurance company is paying the repair bill, then they cut you a check, especially if your own insurance policy is paying the bill. Unfortunately this did not happen on the wife's recent fender bender. A woman backed into her Malibu in a parking lot, smashing the tail lamp and scratching up the bumper cover. The woman that backed into my wife's car had insurance from a company I had never heard of before, some on-line E-Insurance company, and after I provided the dealer body shop estimate they agreed to pay for 50%, then pay the balance after the dealer provided the final bill to the insurance company. It worked out okay, cost me nothing, and the GM dealer whom I know very well handled and guaranteed everything. Just be sure your glass company's insurance agent is not handling your claim this way before you pocket the check and try to do it yourself. Might be embarassing or worse mate.
  3. Aye, you brought back some memories w. this post Joe. I got to the PI a little after you in 1978 and first set eyes on their "owner Jeepneys" there, and knew I had to have one They were basically a slightly stretched all stainless steel CJ body w. any engine/tranny combo you could cram in. I picked up a GM 327/350 HP rebuilt long block from the AAFES garage at Subic w. a Muncie 4 speed transmission (this stuff was easy to get parts for at the time), brought it all to one of the best Jeepney builders in Manila, and two months later it was ready. All leather interior, hard top, A/C, all for $5500. Man, that thing was fun to drive, kept it for 12 years, and we went all over Luzon in it w. no problems. Due to US Customs laws I couldn't bring it home to the US, or I'd still be driving that rig.
  4. :shake: Who cares.
  5. Yeah, those are dealership add-ons Pete. I also have dealership stripes (actually more like the Nike swoosh) on my 91 base model. I had a file on the various body side stripes offered by the dealer from Madison Square Chrysler Jeep in Huntsville, AL (belly-up now), but lost them when my hard drive crashed. :fs1: Backing up now! But I do distinctly remember those modified Pioneer deco stripes as on your's. And yes, I know: :needpics:
  6. PITA - not worth it. See this thread: http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12894&p=129768&hilit=sentinel#p129768
  7. Well said. Drama/BS maximus on this thread..................
  8. Taz, ain't it nice to be wanted after all this time? :D You have to be feeling pretty good, and you have plenty of smarts to make the best choice for you and yours matey.
  9. That seems like a no-brianer Brent. $3600 savings in commuting expenses plus $5000 or more in pay makes it an easy decision. As much as we'd all like you firmly in-place at a Jeep dealership for our parts source, you have to go for the money. Longevity will probably more secure also mate.
  10. Pete, you have your hands full doing damage control. :D The esteemed Wildman answered the question perfectly as usual w/o clouding the issue.
  11. Yes, 94 was the cutoff year for "bolt-in" XJ seats, using the MJ pedestals.
  12. well balanced breakfast cooked by the wife........
  13. I've had three XJs and one MJ w. the AW4 and all had 3.55 gears. Just shows (again!) nothing is written in stone with these things. :D
  14. Most likely 3.55 w. the AW4. :D
  15. While the I6 needs some exhaust back pressure to run at it's peak, it should run okay (read not sick) if the engine is healthy. When I had my dual exhaust put on I ran it to the muffler shop about two miles away with nothing but the header and a short exhaust pipe. Ran fine; LOUD as he!!, but no real noticible loss of power.
  16. Aye. The wheels be turnin' already Pete-man.
  17. Cool. But knowin you it won't remain "as-is" for too long.
  18. Any plans for it yet?
  19. Pete, where's it coming from? Southern truck? Original owner - that's all good.
  20. If your AFE has a poly intake tube like the K&N does, it can be compressed by using a heat gun cautiously while squeezing it simultaneously w. a vise. I had to do this w. my K&N intake tube to provide clearance for the ZJ hood vent drip pans I installed, and got a good 1/2" of clearance and it worked well. But as other posters said w/o a bored throtle body and exhaust system mods the 1" spacer will do nothing. NEVER trust the olde butt dyno.
  21. I don't think it's the lead/acid craptacular battery that's the primary cause of corrosion all over your engine bay up there Dirt-man. :D However if you can get a blem Optima or comparible at that price that's cool.
  22. When the multifunction switch on the stalk is turned to OFF, it sends a ground to the PARK switch located in the wiper motor housing. When the wipers reach the park position, the PARK switch breaks and the wipers stop. If the PARK switch is fubar the wipers will just keep on truckin'. You'll have to pull the wiper motor out to fix it. Sometimes just replacing the bushings on the wiper linkage arms (including the PARK arm which is connected to the PARK switch) will get rid of the slop and allow the switch to operate and break when it reaches the PARK position and stop the current flow and the wipers will stop as they should. But most likely the switch itself is at fault. In that case you have to remove the motor cover and eyeball the switch itself. Look for junk between the contacts, broken contacts, etc. AFAIK the PARK switch itself is not available; you'll have to get a new motor from the yard.
  23. Lol. I think they were optional up to 1990 on certain MJ models, like the Laredo. Have seen Eliminators with them too. I got the last (according to Mopar) remaining OEM chrome bumper a few years ago from an old AMC warehouse in MN for $200 shipped.
  24. Agree. One good thing about using the stock bumper brackets with the Fey bumper is that you can easily fit the DrawTite or a similar Class III hitch receiver should you need to haul heavier stuff. These were on Ebay under the U-Haul brand awhile back for about $120 shipped. I grabbed one. :D http://www.etrailer.com/hitch-1990_Jeep_Comanche.htm Image Not Found
