Yep, they sure did JT. I was going to post it up but I couldn't of any excuses for Bama. They got outplayed on both sides of the ball by a fired-up Gamecock team. Especially on offense. I've always liked Spurrier as a college coach; he did a hell of a job preparing his team and keeping them focused to the end. I gotta say though I think this was okay for the Tide; they'll learn from it, and go on to win the SEC. Saban will see to that. They had to lose sometime, and it's good it happened early in the season. The Tide will still ROLL and will be in the championship game and repeat. I'm going to have another beer now and try to convince myself of what I just wrote.

Stainless was close enough. :brows: Had to buy Mama another soap dish though.............

I have the same and fitted the XJ full console. Used a stainless soap dish to cover up the floor shifter plate. :D

Vaccum leak for the heater
HOrnbrod replied to Red 1989 MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They can go bad, but it's usually the internal check valve that sticks. Any vacuum canister will work, and why the XJ/MJ engineers put the damn thing behind the front bumper I'll never understand. I mounted a new one from a Porsche inside the engine bay and got rid of all that leak-prone vacuum hose. Here's the writeup: http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=17120&hilit=vacuum -
Thanks guys. The hole on the HO cluster is about an inch more inboard. Another non-wasted day - learned a bit more about these trucks.

Thanks Pat - was not aware they were different.

Thanks Rob.

I have been told that the lens for the 90 and below (mech speedo) clusters will not interchange with the 91 and above (electronic speedo) clusters because the odometer reset rod hole are in slightly different locations. I don't have a Renix cluster to try the lens on. Can anyone verify this for sure? Gracias.

Stock rear axle pinion angle help please
HOrnbrod replied to cracker's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm sure cracker knows all that. :D Stock readings on my LWB before pre 3" lift, the readings were: DRIVE SHAFT SLOPE was 8* DOWN PINION ANGLE was 5* PINION OPERATING ANGLE was 8* - 5* = 3* I'm sure the SWB angles will not the same because of the different geometry. -
I'm looking for commonality here and all I can see is a possible PDC + feed cable problem. It's a #6 AWG (or thereabouts) cable that goes through a bullet connector and terminates at the terminal block at the front of the PDC. Check the connector to be sure it's plugged in tightly, and that the 10mm termination lug nuts on the terminal block are corrosion free and tight. When I upgraded my alt I ran a bigger cable directly from the + post of the battery to the PDC terminal block. Why the connector is there in the feed cable, I have no idea.

I LIKEE the seats very much Gary!    I'd do he same thing if I could fine them in grey. The only down side is that they're from a 4-door, but you also gained the big side bolsters. They look very comfy. No offense, but your wife has bad MJ taste, just like mine. They just don't understand. :D Also like the Marchal 850s too. Chrome shell? I almost went with those too, but could not find the chrome shell Marchals so I went with the Hellas. I put the covers on mine too. Also used a set of tamper-proof 10mm mounting nuts to slow down the scumbag thieves.

This is probably probably true; little gain will to be realized with the 99+ intake stock engine. However on the stroker I picked up about 12 HP with it on the Hesco dyno as well as slightly better gas mileage (1-2 MPG highway) which is always a good thing.

Throttle Position Sensor?
HOrnbrod replied to kawaboy13's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Fiat gave you a link to test the TPS. It's a simple test; why not just check it out? A bad TPS can cause bucking/jerking, random surging of the engine when the car is idling, stalling, hesitation when accelerating, and poor mileage among other things. But if you want to run your rig like this, go for it. -

:agree: X 3. Jake, DO NOT pull the speedo needle in an attempt to calibrate the gauge. Bad idea for sure. The speedo is a non-linear gauge, and it won't work accurately over the full scale. This is the best most accurate site to calculate the correct speedo gear for your rig (mainly because I has a bit in putting it together :D ) and includes gear part numbers for all models and links where to get them. http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoSpeedoGears.htm

spedo, gas gauge question
HOrnbrod replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes, I do recalibrate them, either by changing the value of the meter movement cal resistor or adjusting a pot if provided. The gauges are all different, and all are able to be calibrated if the meter movement is okay. What I can't do of course is compensate for less than perfect wiring problems between the gauge and it's associated sensor. -
spedo, gas gauge question
HOrnbrod replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Generally, it involves powering up the gauge on the bench and providing the inputs required from the sensors based on the FSM data via test equipment. It's based on perfect world gauge inputs; if the wiring between the gauge and sensor if shorted, partially shorted, open, corroded, etc. a new gauge won't help. All calibration guarantees is that the meter movement of the gauge is functional and it indicates accurately. -
spedo, gas gauge question
HOrnbrod replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Then no, the speedo and fuel gauge problems should not be related. Their only commonality is the ground, so it's separate problems. Have you tried checking both of them using the tests provided in the FSM? I just finished testing and calibrating a new batch of 91-96 XJ/MJ HO gauges and they are listed on Ebay, items # 330478911991 (speedo) and # 330478909615 (fuel) if you're interested. -
A hard plastic chop stick worked for me. :D You can find brass drift punches in any good local hardware store, but they will scar too if used too energetically.

In the 92 or 88? I didn't see the first post.
