  1. Thanks. Just saw that on Gojeep's site. And no, I do not have one on the tranny. I can't find it in my parts manual either. Any suggestions as to where I could find one or order one?
  2. Really? There's never been one there. Got a pic?
  3. I went to change the CPS today because my truck sometimes has the classic symptom and cranking and not starting when warm. Got out about 1/2 mile of extensions with a univesal on the end and proceeded to remove the two 11mm bolts from underneath. The bolts were very tight and when applying torque, the socket slipped off the universal and disappeared. I didn't hear it land anywhere. Spent about thirty minutes dragging a magnet wand all around the area with no joy. Then I looked up there, and saw there was a cutout right under one of the CPS sensor bolts in the AW4 bell housing. Aw s%*t! Stuck the magnet as deep into the bell housing hole as it could go, again no joy. I removed the flexplate inspection cover hoping it fell through, the third no joy. Thoroughly POed at this point, I started the engine, immediately heard a brief little clink, then shut it off. The socket was laying on the floor. It came out of the bell housing where the inspection plate was mounted. No damage, no problem. Moral of story: Stuff a rag in that bell housing cutout hole near where the CPS is mounted BEFORE trying to change the CPS.
  4. Great plan to bring her back. A $500 discount for a nice relaxing A/C bus tour to Vegas, meet, greet, pay up, gamble a bit, enjoy the Vegas ambience, win some $$ (probably not), then ride home in style. That don't happen in 'Bama.
  5. Wow, you totally stole that 92 jewel Johnny. Didn't know you were a thief. I would have kept her bone stock, just improve the unique stockness. Georgeous.
  6. A good welder can cut and splice a driveshaft. But balancing it after is the problem. So for sure yes, it should be done by a specialized shop.
  7. Don't ASSume. Read the first post. Who knows?
  8. U-joints will be the same, Dana 1310 series. But since the OP didn't say which year or transmission or even if it's going into an MJ SOA or SUA (I'm not sure) who knows about the driveshaft length.
  9. Be sure to run a Carfax on it.
  10. :rotfl2: Good one. :rotfl2:
  11. Just a quick look on Ebay turmed up these three with the bung and fill: Champion 3-row 1193-2 FFD CHER-3 Silla 1-row 2268AA I use an FFD 2-row and the bung is circled in RED.
  12. Thanks guys and congrats. I was hoping for a hard fought entertaining seven game series, with the Tigers the eventual winner 'cause I've always been an AL guy, but the end result tonight was not unexpected after game three. The San Fran defense IMO was the big difference, plus superior coaching. Romo closed every time he was in there, and was happy to see Posey hit the big one tonight to basically put it away. Ah well, now on to Bama football. That's always good.
  13. I'm betting it's intermittent contact on the head lamp switch connector caused by heat over the years. There was a TSP on it for the early XJs/MJs. And any self-respecting Gremlin wouldn't get caught dead in an MJ. They preferred Spitfires. This is the tale of the Gremlins As told by the PRU At Benson and Wick and St Eval- And believe me, you slobs, it's true. When you're seven miles up in the heavens, (That's a hell of a lonely spot) And it's fifty degrees below zero, Which isn't exactly hot. When you're frozen blue like your Spitfire, And your scared a Mosquito pink. When you're thousands of miles from nowhere, And there's nothing below but the drink. It's then that you'll see the Gremlins, Green and gamboge and gold, Male and female and neuter, Gremlins both young and old. It's no good trying to dodge them, The lessons you learnt on the Link Won't help you evade a Gremlin, Though you boost and you dive and you jink. White ones will wiggle your wing tips, Male ones will muddle your maps, Green ones will guzzle your glycol, Females will flutter your flaps. Pink ones will perch on your perspex, And dance pirouettes on your prop, There's a spherical middle-aged Gremlin, Who'll spin on your stick like a top. They'll freeze up your camera shutters, They'll bite through your aileron wires, They'll bend and they'll break and they'll batter, They'll insert toasting forks into your tyres. And that is the tale of the Gremlins, As told by the PRU, (P)retty ®uddy (U)nlikely to many, But a fact, none the less, to the few.
  14. If Detroit doesn't win tonight I'm not watching anymore.
  15. It's either the head lamp switch (doubtful as the circuit breaker is self-renewing) or the socket it plugs into (probable). It's definitely not a gremlin. No such things. This is probably close to what your head lamp switch socket looks like: This is what it should look like: AIRTEX Part # 1P1190. RockAuto carries them among others.
  16. The difference between the HOs and the Renix is the fan relay coil feed. The Renix fan relay is energized by a 12V switched signal from the fan switch mounted in the radiator, while the HO aux fan relay is turned on by applying a ground to pin 31 of the ECU from the thermostat housing fan switch. The easiest way to trigger the aux fan in a Renix that has been converted from a closed to open system is to use an aftermarket radiator that has both the fill cap and the fan switch bung hole. The factory HO radiators had no provisions for the fan switch bung. Another way to do it would be to install a temp switch in the HO thermostat housing and wire it to switch 12V instead of a ground as in the HO models. This switched 12V signal would be tied directly to the wiring formerly connected to the Renix fan switch in the radiator. As Eagle says, the problem with this setup is to find a temp switch for the HO thermostat housing that will switch at the correct temperature. I have not seen any writeup where anyone found the proper switch. The much yakked about Corvette temp switch turned on too late.

  18. Try this. Worked for me. Didn't throw a code (OBDI has none for the NSS), but my backup lights were intermittent. http://www.bc4x4.com...ety-switch-nss/
  19. Why is it that people from MN, WI, IA, MI, IL, PA, WA, OR, etc., states who voted overwhelmingly for Obama in 08 now make the most noise against him? Y'all helped elect this guy.
  20. I'll never understand why people who live in hurricane and tornado prone areas don't have a generator, keep plenty of fresh fuel for it, and start it at least once a month. After being hit by typhoon Paka on Guam in 97 while living on-base in supposedly "typhoon proof" solid concrete housing, we lost power for seven weeks. The hardest part was drinking hot Miller Low Life. The Navy did provide generators after three weeks though. Haven't been w/o a gererator since.
  21. Reagan did. One's for sale too. http://www.collinsbrosjeep.com/images/classic%20cars/reagan/reagan.htm
  22. Are you asking because you installed a new HO radiator (with the fill cap) to convert to an open system and this radiator did not have a threaded bung hole for the original Renix temp sensor? Most aftermarket replacement HO radiators have the bung in the left side tank so you can retain the fan sensor. There have been a lot of writeups for using a replacement temp sensor in the HO themostat housing to control the aux fan (the Corvette sensor come to mind) but none have worked well that I recall.

  24. Look over the block for the casting number. It's a much more accurate way to tell what it is (was). Year Casting No 1987-90 53005535 1991-95 53008405 1996-98 53020569 1997-?? 53010341 1999-04 53010449 2000UP 53010328 (2000+ wrangler/XJ) 2000UP 53020569 (2000+ Grand Cherokee)
