It's great to see you and your truck in the spotlight this month Austin. You're one of the true good guys here on the forum and we are lucky to have you. Congrats man. -

To determine if the NSS is the cause (it could be) try jumping the connector using this procedure (at the end). http://gojeep.willyshotrod.com/HowtoNSSrebuild.htm -
Removal of old vinyl "hockey sticks"
HOrnbrod replied to madmax's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Wait, I remember when I picked it up I got a small bottle of touchup. It had the Dupont label. It's long gone now though........ I have a friend who has a body shop in town. Maybe I'll take it over there and see what he says. -

No idea Adam. I bought this truck sight unseen (except for the internet and lots of pics) and it was painted before I came back from overseas in 03. The paint still looks shiny and new though. I do know there were several coats of clear applied over the base coat, which is the original color. -

I have the same dilemma. I have these red "swoosh" decals on both sides, and I want them gone. The truck was painted in 03, and it's only been outside when it's out of the garage. There is no clearcoat over them. They will be easy to remove, but I'm afraid they will still show. And I do not want to paint the truck again. What do you body guys think? I suppose if they still show I could make it a two-tone. -
Comanche Rear Sway Bar, Long Box
HOrnbrod replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Yep, the 8.8 has larger diameter tubes. Pick up a pair of Ford Explorer rear axle sway bar u-bolts w. brackets and bush it for whichever bar you use; stock WJ or the ADDCO bar I used. -
Yep, that was a bonehead play. Lynch was a runaway truck all night, doesn't fumble, and they try a flip pass. Really dumb. I guess we'll find the reasoning for this decision later. Suspect Carroll called it.

Holy crap! What an ending. Finally the Pats get a break at the end instead of Seattle. Hell of a game between two very evenly matched teams.

Got an angle finder? Stick it on top of the L & R upper ball joint flats and check your caster while sitting on level ground.

Sadly cheating (w/o getting caught) is the name of the game in pro sports, and to a somewhat lesser degree in major college sports. Winning at all costs makes the big bucks and keeps the players and coaches riding the gravy train. PEDs, team-against-team espionage, back-channel tampering with opposing players, bribing officials, payoffs, point shaving, gambling, and other niceties are commonplace and only come to light when the respective sports commissioners say so because of media pressure. Anyone who thinks differently is living under a rock. It's in all sports, just some are more flagrant than others. And there is nothing the fans can do about it, except stop buying tickets. And that ain't going to happen any time soon.........

I've never had to do this, but here is the procedure from the FSM: -
In spite of the below, I have to go with the Pats over Seattle. ROLL Pats!

On the subject of wheels/tires
HOrnbrod replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Early chrome addiction days. The original plan was to slam it with bags w. 18" wheels and flare the fenders over them. Longbeds look good slammed. Got sidetracked later though.......... -
On the subject of wheels/tires
HOrnbrod replied to Jeep Driver's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I haven't seen any wheels I like better on an MJ than the 15" 10-spoke turbines, and I've been looking. But I'm ready for some new tires, and they will be the "skinny" 33x10.5x15 BFG All-Terrain T/A KO next time they go on sale. They will clear fine and will be perfect for the 4.10 gears too. -
Very ingenious.

Hard to start when at operating temperature
HOrnbrod replied to Rohls's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The BMWs run a higher FP than you are running. This won't work on the 97 and up XJs because they have no fuel return line. On your truck it's no problem. Did all this hard starting when warm start with your new injectors / regulator? What do your plugs look like? Running rich?- 19 replies

From NAXJA. This one or similar 3/8" fuel check valve: http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Trouble/535ihot_start.htm http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1063655- 19 replies

Yes, there is a check valve at the outlet end of the fuel pump. According to the FSM, The system should retain down to 50% of the running engine fuel pressure (~15 psi) for 30 minutes after engine shutdown. A fix for a fuel pump leaky check valve w/o replacing the pump is to install an inline check valve in the supply line as close to the tank as possible. My 91 will hold pressure for only 10 minutes or so, but I do not have a hard starting problem in any conditions. I do have an inline check valve though ready to install in case it won't hold pressure anymore after shutdown. Another cause of fuel pressure loss (besides obvious leaks of course) is fuel leaking past the regulator on the fuel rail. The FSM does not show any tests to check the regulator. The only cure is to replace the regulator.- 19 replies
