  1. The original plain metal support did not apply enough pressure to the pan gasket because it stretched and rusted over time, so a bonded rubber cushion was added to the strap apply a more uniform gasket sealing pressure to the pan curved gasket, and to last longer. That's my take on it anyhow. This new design works much better. The AMC engineers never thought of it I guess. It took the more talented Mopar engineers to make it right. Just like they did in 91 when the HO models were introduced to replace the Renix junk.
  2. Then this will be the second time. You're on. Anyone else want some?
  3. $50 says you're wrong. Paypal payment only.
  4. Yes. The strap puts pressure on the rounded part of the gasket at the very rear. No idea what exactly the rubber does, but I've heard of a couple people who say it's fixed a slight RMS area leak. Possibly it squeezes the gasket a little bit more? :dunno: The rubber is molded to the strap and it goes on the outside of the pan. You're probably correct Jeremy. It definitely slowed down the leak I had there. Barely have to wipe it anymore. But it still weeps about like the pic above........ Slowed down compared to no strap before? Or strap with no rubber? Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk Slowed down compared to no strap before. Mine was MIA.

  6. Actually it's made by Ferrari and adds about 15 RWHP @ 8K RPM. :chillin:
  7. Newer version w. rubber seal: Almost stopped a RMS leak completely for me.
  8. Been using the Spicer 1310 greasables for years and years - never any problems for me and last forever if you keep them lubed. I don't off-road but wheel the hell out of the stroker at times.
  9. If you mentioned it, I didn't see it. Whom is your insurance company?
  10. I had this problem - it was intermittent. Turned out the brushes in the starter were toast. Is your starter motor the original?
  11. Are the Sprintex install instructions available anywhere online? And before I waste my time, I'm at 4.5L-4.6L. Basic Hesco stroker crank and rods still with the stock cylinder bore. So no-go for this engine Alex? EDIT: Found the TJ 4.0 instructions. Reading now..............
  12. In order for an automotive relay to work one side of the operating coil must be grounded. If you know how to use an ohmmeter, check for continuity to ground on pin 85 (normal) or pin 86.
  13. Err, so what are you going to do with the Sprintex?
  14. Correct. Stick a bare wire down through the spring till it bottoms out, then ground the other end of the wire to the "2079" plate. The horn should blow.
  15. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Yep, a rematch. Clemson will be a lot tougher this year. But no worries......................
  16. LED Cargo Light: LED Third Brake Light:
  17. What's the extent of the damage?
  18. Are you working with a wiring diagram or just randomly sticking jumper wires in a relay socket? It sounds like you might have smoked a fusible link.
  19. I'm waiting for a JK pickup next year too. Not an ugly crew cab 4-dr POS, but a nice looking practical 2-dr, same thing as you want. Since you have one of the finest MJ builds on the forum, hold off doing anything rash to that MJ a bit until we see what happens in the next model year.
  20. Yep. Urban and his boys are playing like clowns and doing the el-foldo dance as usual. They need Woody Hayes to reincarnate. Remember this when they played in 1978?
  21. I like it. Which head are you using Alex?
  22. Bama Elephants crush the Washington Dogs 24-7. Sigh. What's that, 26 straight now? Bring on the Ohio Buckflies or the Clemson Housecats next week for #27, don't matter who. :rotfl2:
