  1. yeah,i'm trying.i just did replace the interior lights with the optronic ones from advance(cost a whole$7 for 2 of them) and got a set of cherokee under dash lights as well.the interior lights hadn't worked in years.the next step is to replace the door jamb switches so the lights will come on without me having to manually turn the lights on.i was going to do the wiper jug this weekend but the timing cover seal sprung a massive leak yesterday so i'm going to have to replace the seal and timing chain set first.i had just replaced the balancer with a professional products one 6 months ago and should have replace it then but it wasn't leaking so i didn't,oh well that's what i get for being lazy.hopefully soon i'll be able to post some pics.
  2. sweet.i didn't realize there was an o-ring behind it.my sending unit isn't rusty or anything.it just seeps fuel through the wires.as soon as i get low on gas i'm going to replace the o-ring,thanks.
  3. i swapped beds on my 88 longbed this weekend.i noticed fuel is slowly seeping through the wires on the sending unit.i'm pretty sure this piece is discontinued through mopar.does anyone know of a way to modify a different unit to fit.i do have the larger tank(23 gallon i think).right now my mj is my dd until i get my engine fixed in 88 mustang so i need to keep her in goodrunning shape.
  4. just swapped beds this weekend.bed has a few very small dents but is 100% rust free.i just ordered a jcr offroad rear bumper for it and got a 97-01 cherokee wiper reservoir to install.still looking for a zj front sway bar.i'm buying my g'f a digital camera for her birthday this weekend so maybe i'll be able to post some pics of my progress.i also got a set of browndog motor mounts to install as well.
  5. they finally replied.a item was back ordered until yesterday and they finally shipped.if they would've returned my e-mails and just said so it would've been alot easier.because of new years day and all it'll still be another week before i can put my door panel back on,oh well.
  6. anybody have any issues with team cherokee?i ordered several parts from them a week ago and they haven't even sent the order and won't respond to e-mails.
  7. just did the wj control arms and a new tie rod at the pitman arm.steers much firmer now.my best friend pulled a fast one on me this christmas.the local jy had a burnt longbed mj that was the same color and same pioneer stripe package that mine has.the bed is near perfect,it just burnt the cab.i was going to buy it but funds were slim because of christmas but my boss gave us a last minute christmas bonus of $200(the same price of the bed)so i called to get the bed but the lady at the yard said it was sold but the man never picked it up.she says she'll call if he doessn't want it.i gave up and said oh well.well my friend tracked him down and he bought it for me.what a good friend.
  8. i had a friend with a 00 cherokee we lifted and he jumped something(not sure what)but the impact was hard enough to bend the rf axle bumpstop but nothing else.we tried to pound it out straight but no luck.it still drove fine and didn't wear the tires any more than usual but every time he hit a hard bump it would rub the spring and make a boing noise so he eventually traded it in for a hhr.
  9. looking for 89 and older courtesy lamp sockets and brackets to put in my 88 mj,thanks, gary
  10. ratrapp

never mind, find the set new from teamcherokee for $12.
  11. ratrapp

    arm rest clips.

i need the 2 plastic clips for the door armrest and the upper metal clip.i don't know if they are available new or not.
  12. i just did the xj booster/mc/brake valve swap and i'm very happy with it.it takes alot less effort to stop now.i've already done the xj instrument cluster swap and the newer model valve cover and open cooling system conversion.my next steps are zj sway bar,wj front control arms and ho head with 99-up intake.i've had this truck for 10 years and haven't made this much improvements ever since i've had it.i was going to retire her but i'll think i'm going to hang onto he until she(or me) dies first
  13. i hate to say it but you should bite the bullet and replace the tank.i had to about 6 years ago.i didn't realize how much crap was inside my tank.i also went through 3 pumps ina year and a half before replacing the tank.the first 2 were mopar pumps as well.
  14. will any 4 bolt tb work or any ho fuel rail?
  15. i'm going to do the ho head conversion and need a few quick questions answered.what casting # head is the best to get,are all 4-bolt tb's the same(size mm) and will ant ho fuel rail work?i got a bare 99 up intake but no fuel rail.my local j/y has plenty of 91-95 cherokees to rob parts from.
  16. yeah,is there an easier way of adapting the renix tps to a newer tb?that's all thats really stopping me from swaping to a ho head and 99 up intake.
  17. i've got the hesco pump and high flow t-stat housing as well.they are good upgrades over stock.stick with a mopar t-stat.i've used several different brand high flow t-stats and different temps and none of them do as good a job as a mopar piece.i've had several of the supposed fail safe t-stats stick closed in less than a year.
  18. i run 15w-40 diesel oil in my 88 4.0 as well.i notice it takes some of the piston slap noise away and it burns alot less oil.
  19. if the amc 20 was like the one in my old 77cj5 and 79 cj7 then i'm not impressed with them.the stupid 2-piece axle is junk.i replaced them with moser 1-piece axles and then the next weak link was spider gears and center pins.they might be fine for everyday driving but they have weak links for serious off roading.
  20. my 88 4.0 with aw4 and 235s only gets 15-16 mpg.i do do most of my driving around town though.it may get alittle better on the highway.this is 165k mile tired engine with a k&n,redline in the the diffs and t-case and a high flow converter with 2 1/2 exhaust.
  21. i went through about 3 new bottles in my mj.the original bottle lasted 12 years.i was working at a mopar dealership then so i got a new one and it lasted 7 years and broke.i got another new mopar one and it only lasted 2 years.i finally changed over to a newer style cherokee radiator last year and haven't looked back.
  22. i have no lift on mine and i never dropped the d/s on mine to take the fuel pump out.
  23. yeah,my g/fs 95 grand 4.0 temp gauge kept flucuating up and down so i put a local parts store t-stat in it.it ran too hot so i got another and it ran too cold.i finally broke down and got a mopar one and it doesn't flucuate and runs just under 200 like it's supposed to.i'll have to order one from mopar and i'll just have to wait until tuesday for it.
  24. my 195 mr.gasket t-stat stuck on me today coming home from work.i had one stick in my mustang and thought it was a fluke but i guess not.it was only 6months old.i had just put a hesco w/p,hesco t-stat housing and new style cherokee radiator in just 6 months ago and i thought all my heating problems would be a thing of the past.
  25. i wonder what the problem is with the mj going through pumps?my original pump lasted 12 years.it went and i replaced it with a mopar pump and also bought a brand new gas tank because the inside was eating out with crud.it lasted 8 years and it died and i replaced it with a bosch pump.it seems like it doesn't get full pressure when i first start it and take off until i've drove it a mile or two.maybe these trucks like water pumps and fuel pumps.at least the 4.0 trucks do,lol
