  1. TPS? Mine gets stuck or something every now and then and doesn't kick down right, resulting in a high idle.
  2. If you can't get one at the JY, try NAPA. They have one BK 6053404 $32.79
  3. Gotta second previous posters. My MJ runs about 40-45psi warm at idle and 75-80psi at highway speed. I have no leaks, no blowby in the intake, ect. I figure the gauge is jacked, since the truck runs fine.
  4. Around here, they all generally need to have the wobbly head repaired so a JY mirror doesn't really solve anything. Most yards won't sell a mirror off a good door, anyway, so that narrows the availability considerably. Finding an XJ or MJ with a smashed door but a good mirror ain't easy. You gotta go to the Pull A Part yards. They are in the SE and you can pull any part you want cheap. Need a door without a mirror or glass? Pffft. Take off the mirror and pull the glass and take the door to the register. The Pull A Part folks don't help you and they don't watch you work. It's great. www.pullapart.com And woohoo! The South Atlanta yard has an 89 MJ on the lot. Road Trip this weekend.
  5. I just go to the JY and get a "new" one. At the Pull A Part in Atlanta mirrors are cheap and plentiful.
  6. OK, when I bought the MJ it had this stainless steel toolbox on it. Well, I don't keep a lot of tools and stuff in there, so its just taking up space. Looking to get something smaller that mounts along the side. Suggestions?
  7. www.rockauto.com has caps and rotors you need.
  8. My 87 4.0L has no cat anymore. The old one went bad and the shop forgot to put in a new one when I replaced the muffler last year. Seems to run just fine without it.
  9. Previous posts have said that 93 and older S-10/S-15 handles are the same. A quick search of this site against "tailgate handle" confirms that.
  10. It would be cool if you could put plexiglass over the holes. A glass-bottom MJ would rock.
  11. There's a "pull a part" yard in Cleveland. Too far?
  12. Exactly. My input voltage was 4.65, so subtracted 0.8 and got a reading of 3.85v. No % nonsense needed.
  13. When I adjusted mine, I looked at the FSM instructions and figured that 5.0 - 4.2 = 0.8 Given that my input voltage was 4.65 volts, I simply subtracted 0.8 and set the TPS to 3.85 volts. Worked fine. Idles great.
  14. I have seats from a 2 door XJ, but I never use the forward tilt. However, I did learn that the 4-door XJ seats I was gonna get were almost 3 inches taller because they had the "rocking" feature. Good thing I went with the 2 door seats.
  15. I have an '01 engine in my MJ and it most certainly has the EGR.
  16. You can do a little mod to the side markers to make them blink as turn signals. Easy and took all of 20 minutes. http://www.madxj.com/MADXJ/technical/te ... wiring.htm Not my site, but the MadXJ guys have done a lot of neat things.
  17. Shortbed is 179"
  18. My 87 doesn't have any. Hasn't been a problem. You might get some noise reduction, but I doubt you'd notice given all of the other noise sources in an MJ.
  19. Pardon my ignorance, but I've never used a pickle fork. Are you saying to put the fork between the steering damper bolt and the center link and whack it with a hammer?
  20. OK, was out this morning lubing the front end and noticed the steering damper/stabilizer was leaking. Piece of crap OEM part only lasted 18 years! I should sue. So went to NAPA and got a new one (Rancho) and ran into a problem. I might be getting old and slow but I can't get the bolt out of the thing. Is thing pressed in or something?
  21. I'm thinking about doing the sunroof thing on mine. Anyone got a diagram or picture of the roof so I can get an idea of how big I can go without compromising structural integrity? Wouldn't want her to flex anymore than she needs to.
  22. That thought has occurred to me more than once. But the roofs were installed back when the truck was 2wd, long before any thoughts of a 4wd conversion. :shake: Where did you get those?
  23. 1. Spray paint. 2. Any reasonably competent upholstery shop. Personally, I'd go with 2.
  24. Nah, I'm a habitual topper offer. Gassing up isn't finished until the gas is foaming up out of the filler neck. (yes, I know that isn't the right way to tell if its full) I guess the sender could be reading bad. Maybe I'll just toss the gas can in the back and run until she's dry, then fill and see what it takes.
  25. OK, took measurements. May be off an inch in all three dimensions. 27Lx15Wx12H A quick calculation from the intertoob tells me that would hold about 21 gallons. Which still doesn't explain why I've run it waaaaay past the yellow light and still never got more than 13.1 gallons in it.
