I have several. PM sent.

Agreed. Wait to sell it until late January at the earliest. People need to recover from the expenses from the Holidays. If you can wait until after tax time (after April 15), that will be the best time.

Couple more....... '50-something Studebaker. The bed was complete garbage as was the body, but the tailgate was just good enough to convince me to pay $80. After snatching the tailgate off of it, I visited a buddy who works at a body shop and loaded it up with the heavy bits from their scrap pile. Only got $34 for the 1,700 lbs it all weighed. $75 on Craigslist. Rotten bed and super-flimsy homemade frame but nice tail gate and fenders. Putting the fenders back on craigslist as "rat rod" parts, see if I can get $100 for em. Got an even $20 at the scrap yard for the 980 lbs of what was left of it. Gotta love the soup can bearing caps....... lol

Well........ I'm really certain now. I'm not a fan of Pirelli tires. The HC came with the option of 2 Pirelli tires, an all season and a summer only tire. Mine had the summer tires on it. For the most part, initially, I didn't have an issue with them. The Pirelli all season run flats that our SRT8 Grand had were simply awful and we tossed those in a hurry in favor of the very affordable and highly rated Yokohama Parada Spec X. LOVED those tires on the SRT8 Grand. As the months went on, I noted similarities in the handling characteristics of the Pirelli's on the HC that reminded me of the run flats. I actually checked them once to be absolutely sure they weren't. Just rough riding tires with lots to be desired on wet surfaces. Come September, I checked the tread depth of the rear tires. Lots of hard launches with brief moments of tire spin, but no burn outs. 2/3 rds of the tire was already gone....... I know.... what did I expect of ANY tire mounted to a car with this kind of horsepower. But still. Then came the brief burnout I did at a local 4x4 show. I knew I wouldn't be able to NOT do one EVER..... seemed like a good idea at the time...... tires are now at 2-3/32nds at the wear bars. If I try to goose it to pass a slow moving car I end up having to correct it out of a pretty loose fishtail. Especially on the cold concrete road surfaces out here. Kinda spooky actually. Figured I'd deal with it in the Spring since this weekend was the last hurrah for the HC and I put it away for the winter. But started doing the research on replacement tires. I won't bore you with all the data and review info but when it came down to it, all good points pointed to the Continental Extreme Contact DW's TireRack was having a REALLY good sale on these this week. Normally $916 for a set of 4, I got a set for $596 picked up at their warehouse in Denver. Gonna be a long winter........ But I WILL wake up the HC with a truly gnarly smoky burn out come Spring..... :laugh3: Toys all tucked away...........

Are my U-bolts bent or is this normal?
yellaheep replied to 88mjblue's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Severely over-torqued. Unless you need to remove them, they'll be fine as they are. But once you do remove them, don't re-use them. You'll also want to straighten out that shock mount plate before installing the new u-bolts. -
Interesting and very creative! I may try this if I end up needing to paint another Jada Toys Hellcat - the one I just finished is "Ivory White Pearl" .... the pearl is what isn't true to my Hellcat which is "Bright White". I would have painted it white but didn't want to lose the emblems and logos. I'm hoping Jada will eventually do one in white. It appears the red "MJ" is longer. How'd you graft in the length? Is the back of the cab on those closed too?

Those are killer fiat! How'd you make the pioneer stripe???

I agree with quite a lot of what he says. I just dislike the manner in which he says it. America's reset button needed pushed in a big way. I think it got pushed. But yeah..... it will be an interesting 4 years. Laughed my keester off this morning hearing that Canada's Immigration information web page crashed moments after the presidential win announcement. All those half-assed "Americans" trying to research leaving the country and they overloaded the site. Good riddance. Let Canada experience an influx of super entitled immigrants.

Doing it with the Eliminator version???? I'll be a buyer........

1986 - The Jim Oshel Edition
yellaheep replied to neohic's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
I remember that MJ. I saw it parked out front of Jim's garage/shed/shack and he was talking about it being a Nissan diesel swap project or something-or-other. It was a very clean bodied MJ before the hail storm. Sucks to hear that happened. Is Jim still sitting on several MJ's and parts?- 165 replies

Unfortunately photos just can't show the damage enough to tell, but I've seen worse front hits on XJ's/MJ's get repaired. It's possible the tow bar mount might have saved the unibody. Removing the bumper, fender and header panel will reveal the extent of unibody damage. The bed and cab damage could be corrected to "good enough" status with a large slide hammer and "J" hook. A creative rigging of a Porta-Power ram inside the cab could push the area under the window back out and possibly save the glass. You might consider covering the glass with lots of tape for the time being.... it's under lots of stress now and could shatter (explode) just with a change in temperature or a door shutting. Those of us handy with collision repair would likely be able to keep that truck on the road....... but it won't keep the truck from getting a "salvage" designation on the title / VIN by insurance after the claims have been worked out. You need to do what's best for your situation, but if it get's totaled by your Insurance, it'd be great if you could buy it back and offer it up for someone to use for parts or bang it back into usable shape.

Wow, did this get posted in the wrong section and thread........ lol! A quick googling tells me that this tailgate design was used for quite a few years, it's just the Willys stamping that makes it unique to a few specific years. Nothing real rare.

I've decided that my HC will be getting electric exhaust cut outs and "boom tube" side exhaust tips (nascar style) like these HC's had at the Barrett Jackson Dodge Thrill Ride. The sound is awesome and you could hear them from the strip: Took lots of pics, but the one I didn't think to take........ was of the lines. There was NO waiting to do the Corvette Thrill Ride, but a 20-30 min wait in line to do the HC's and Viper...... lol. The Vette's were base model 435 hp cars. While I could appreciate that they hold the turns like they're on rails compared to the HC's..... they offered little else for "Thrill" value. I'll keep my HC. While in Vegas, we toured the Eldorado Gold Mine near Nelson, NV. The "ghost town" there is incredible if you're into rusty gold and oddities..... While we were there, this curious group of Germans drove up in these 3 AMG rides along with a Mercedes SUV and a Dodge Ram...... all with Michigan Manufacturer plates. There's a rough job huh?

From Allpar: "Introduced in 1976 to replace the Valiant, the Volare--like its twin, the Dodge Aspen, which replaced the Dart--was at the time a small car. The coupe rode on a 108.5-inch wheelbase and offered a 225 slant-six or a 318 or 360 V8 with three-speed, four-speed with overdrive or Torque-Flite transmission. The Volare Super Coupe was a performance package that used the 360 V8 and emphasized handling via better suspension, tires and wheels but included flares, spoilers and matte-black paint. Plymouth built just 494 copies, but the Street Kit Car proved even less popular. It differed from the Super Coupe mostly in cosmetics and included bolts in the flares, hood pins, chrome, windshield clips and rear-window retainers. Street Kit Volares were available only in two-tone blue, and the 360-powered cars wore "360 cu. in." on each side of the hood. Large "43" figures on the doors and the roof explain the unofficial "Petty Kit Car" name while adding to the aggressive look Chrysler wanted. Competition, from the AMX to the Cobra II to the Hurst/Olds W30, had graphics and spoilers, but the Street Kit Car's 175 hp topped those three and gave 0-to-60-mph times in the eight-second range. It was acceptable performance in the day, so why did Chrysler sell just 247 Volares and 145 Aspens with the Street Kit Car package? "Richard Petty stopped racing Chrysler that year," said owner Aaron Yurkanin of Peckville, Pa. "As soon as Richard Petty left, they said, 'Stop the presses.'" The "Kit Car" name, with its unfortunate connotation of a fiberglass body on a used chassis, probably did little to help. Another hurdle was the Volare's growing reputation for poor quality. The Kit Car's interior is pure Volare, and the only hint that this is anything out of the ordinary comes on rough roads. The tires and suspension stiffen the ride, but they keep the car from leaning at all in some slightly immoderate corners. The Volare's big surprise comes in town traffic; despite the big numbers on the doors, the flares and the wide tires, hardly anyone notices. And if it's unnoticed on the road, Yurkanin has learned from showing the Street Kit Car that it really is forgotten. Even his documentation is often dismissed. "They still don't want to believe you," he said. "'This kid thinks he's got a factory car. He doesn't know what stock means.' It's like they're patting you on the head and saying, 'Son, you'll learn someday.'" Read more: http://autoweek.com/article/1978-plymouth-volare-street-kit-car-no-43-bullet#ixzz4NMHXYc8V

http://www.barrett-j...VERTIBLE-198141 Saw that one, very nice build, disgusting color combination...... the paint was like butterscotch and the interior wasn't complimentary in my opinion. http://www.barrett-j...OM-COUPE-197165 I was shocked at what that sold for....... it was rusty. Literally a rust hole under the build plate on the fender support / unibody. The lower rear quarters were sculpted with bondo or fiberglass and the rear window corners were bubbly. All of the exposed aluminum - valve covers, alternator, intake, etc were all scaley and chalky. Definitely an east coast or gulf coast car. http://www.barrett-j...GER-R/T--197236 Super nice car, just not my favorite in color combinations. These were some of my favorites:

Pick up a '70 T/A while you're there. Dude......get outta my head! Lol. LOVE me those T/As. 455 SD 4 spd? Yes please! Gotta tell ya though, a '70 GTX 440/6 4spd is a few pegs higher in the want list. Maybe I shoulda held out and got collector car financing arranged so I could be a bidder instead of dropping it all on the Hellcat......lol. Guess I'm a sucker for modern comforts and a warranty. Oh well!
