  1. Got too drunk and burned my self bad this weekend on a fire pit. I like to hear everything that goblazers does to his manche. isn't that what this thread is about, posting every little insignificant thing that you do to your comanche? Oh yeah I haven't seen mine yet today.

    Body work questions

I like this idea. I have decided to go with flat od green. This won't show the dents and poor bondoing as bad.I also decided that I am keeping the lower trim with the bigger holes, just too much work.

    Body work questions

Headache already caused. after 4 hours I have fixed most of the damage caused by the flap wheel. What I have learned so far... Palm sander makes a weird texture. Foam sanding blocks are made for drywall and hand rails, not cars. The only think that works is hand sanding multiple times. This is more work then this $100 car deserves. it is going to look BA when it's done. After two days 1/4 of the car is primed. I have been going with the ball hammer method.

    Body work questions

God this is a super long process. Luckily I have a week off. I f%ed some stuff up bad before I posted. I tried using a flap wheel on my grinder to take off pin striping. I have so much sanding in my future. I appreciate all the advice I can get. I will look into the lead.
  14. I am doing body work for the first time on my subi. What are some tricks that I should know? I have about 30 1/4" holes to fill from removing trim that I don't like. What should I know about sanding? What grits should I use? What speed should I use my 7" orbital sander at? This is not my forte.
  15. On trucks they fixed that problem. They cut off the hinge and welded in a piece of plate, the re welded the hinge on. It is a common problem. If you have a welder, or know some one who does you could probably weld it up in a few minutes. For the pins, If you pull the doors off you can cut the bottom tab off the hinge. with a sawzal and then beat the rest of the door side of the hinge up. Then you can remove the pin and replace it with a bolt. It also make your doors easier to remove.
  16. Here is a link landing lights are on the bottom of the page. The 5 3/4" lights fit in a standard 6" round housing. The glass looks pretty thick. I will post picks when I am done painting them tomorrow.
  17. HAHA. They guy that gave them to me told me that he had them on his yukon until he got a ticket for using them. I was just looking them up online, you can get them up to 450 watts. They are 6" by the way, the lamp its self is 5 3/4 so it fits into the rubber gasket that holds The fixture all together.
  18. Really???? You definitely have front discs. You have hit the end of the life of your pads. and by the sounds of it, one of your rotors as well. If it is a constant grind, then your caliper is seized. If it is only when you hit the brakes then get those brakes fixed before the caliper goes bad.
  19. A customer gave me a pair of aircraft landing lights. They are in housings that look like the round 5" chrome harbor freight lights. I pulled them apart to paint them. They have a sealed GE light that says aircraft landing not for high way use. They are 13v 100w. I hooked one to the battery in my subi and just one illuminated a tree about a 1/4 mile down my street. They seem to have a fairly focused beam. but I think that these will work great in conjunction with a wider focusing pair of lights.

  22. Are they signature required? :dunno: I am leaving thursday to leave for the weekend. It's my granndpa's memorial service.
  23. They must drive really slow, I still don't have them yet
  24. tore everything out of the front end, and snapped a brand new grade 8 bolt, I guess a 3/4" drive impact is overkill for a 3/8" bolt. :dunno:
  25. Got the front end all torn apart. Put rollers on the 44. Found out it uses 9/16 lug nuts. $2.75 a piece at shucks. 44 has a seized caliper, or at least rusted shut. I snaped a new grade 8 bolt right off so I called it quits for the night. I will deal with that tomorrow. Spent all day today running around for hardware.
