I finally got around to installing the 2 door window switches. Here's what we started out with: The one I've been hunting: I started by removing the 4 door switch assembly. You can see all the little metal clips/retainers that hold the trim plate inplace. These were a true pain in the @ss to remove. And removed Theres also a screw hiding out that needs to come out The obvious difference The new one installed And back on the door.

Reminds me of my youngest son. She started having labor pains at 5 months. Doc required bed rest. I would get up early every day and carry her to the bathroom, bathe her, and carry her back to bed. Go to the kitchen and prepare breakfast. Feed her breakfast in bed, then make lunch for both of us. I'd put her lunch in the bedroom for her and pack mine up for work. After work, I'd do all the housework as well as care for our oldest son. Cook dinner for everyone, administer showers and crawl in bed to die just to to it all over again the next day. We went like that from month 5 to month 8 when the labor started and wouldn't stop. My youngest was born a month early (natural birth) and the only thing we were advised to do was make sure he didn't get any sort of respiratory illness until it was certain his lungs were fully developed. To hear him cry, you would think his lungs were in stellar shape. Other than that, it was life as usual with a newborn. The longest 3 months of our lives to be certain but everything worked out just fine. If your little girl lacks only 3 weeks, I would bet she's going to be perfectly fine. I wouldn't spend the remaining few weeks before she comes freaking out. It does no one good to panic and worry over things they have no control of. So sit back at work, keep the phone close by, and daydream about all the cool things youll get to do with your little girl after she arrives.

Welcome. Hope you're prepared to feed the beast!

X2. I was wondering the same thing. I didn't see a ladder or anything. Do you just crawl up the camper, use a trampoline, etc? Every time I see this thing, I want one more and more!
-
Too much. They only wanted $35 for the panel, but the $53 to ship it was insane! :ack:
-
DING DING DING DING!!!! We have a winner! I'll buy you a beer. I swear, those 2 door electric panels are near impossible to find. After hunting for a year, I found mine on eBay. Pure luck as it had just been listed.
-
Nice! I'm digging the camper. It will definitely be a cool project. Did you by chance hit up Jay (Comanche County) while you were in his neck of the woods?
-
Good guesses guys, but keep trying! No factory roll bar on the horizon, and I have a spare laying in the bed now(and another one in the garage :D ) Its nothing major or big ticket. Just something that I havent been able to find and has annoyed me and remained elusive since I started hunting for it.

Here ya go...

Great Photoshop skills Ryan. Thanks a lot. I will show these to him and let you know what he thinks.

Ryan, it took me about 15 minutes to swap it out. Take the door panel off(obviously). After that, its 3 nuts that hold the motor on and 3 bolts that hold the track on. 2 more bolts that hold the track to the glass. All of them are 10mm. And 2 of those plastic push in retainers that hold the wire and a plastic piece out of the way of the glass. I'm assuming the 2 door regulators are different from the 4 door ones.
-
Yes, no adapter needed. The Moab wheels from Rubicons and Unlimited models up to 2005 still used the 5x4.5 bolt pattern. After that, they went to 5x5.
-
Yes, they are stock.
-
Yes, I still have them. Shipping would be killer from Texas to Montana though I think. Its entirely up to you if you're interested.
-
Yes I am! Not sure what it is about the Moabs, but they look really good on these trucks.

The worm on my drivers side window regulator was stripped at each end. It made a nice stripped thread/grinding noise at full up and full down. This morning I decided to throw this one in: It came from the same junkyard XJ as the heated mirrors. Now the auto down feature works as expected.
-
Here are a couple pics of the injectors. The numbers on the sides of them are: XW7E-A5B 0 280 155 857 Precisionautoinjectors also sent me an email saying they are 21-22lb/hr depending on who you ask. If anyone is interested in reading the entire email he sent, I'd be happy to post it up.

Yes sir. I wasn't sure what controlled it so I referred to the fsm. Installed them and had them on for about 5 minutes and they got pretty warm. On another note, I just acquired something I've been hunting for about a year. Details to come on that in about a week.
-
I found a nice little upgrade from the junkyard the other day. These should be helpful during winter. Heated mirrors! I'm gonna get too comfortabe driving this thing  I may have to do some rewiring now. The mirrors work great, but when I installed the 3rd brake/cargo light I didnt have heated mirrors. I tied the cargo light into the switch for the rear window defroster. Now when using the mirrors, the cargo light is on :dunno: Oh well, just another project to do.

The blue interior is in great shape. I like the idea of it, but the first Comanche I owned (86 4cyl/auto/4x4) had that interior and I hated it! If anyone wants it, I will be happy to sell it to you. All of it will go. Ryan, I'd love to take you up on that challenge, but my son and I made a deal. I provide the knowledge and expierence, and he does the work. We are going to go slow and by the numbers on it so he has a working knowledge of every part of it. our goal is that he will be able to diagnose and repair without help. We have 3 years to finish before he starts driving. That being said, I see this thing running under its own power before the years end. :D Rich, the pictures of the XJ are way more deceiving than that! The parts we'll use are in decent shape. But as a whole, the poor thing was rode hard and put up wet. It'll need quite a few nitpicky things like a new steering wheel(the leather is worn through on this one). It's high mileage, but the mechanicals are sound and its not throwing any check engine lights. All in all, it was a good deal considering what it would have cost to piece it all together. Thanks for the responses and compliments guys  Keep them and your ideas coming! We're excited to dig in to this one and see where it ends up.

So, after getting the XJ back to the property as well as the wheels. He says the first order of business is get the craptastic steel wheels off hs truck and slap the Rubi ones on. and me sneaking in the background And just to keep it humble, here's a few shots of the body damage The plans for this thing are to do the 97+ swap with the red donor, hunt down and put in every availible option we can think of (think limited model), a 2 inch budget boost, maybe some hell creek metric ton rear springs, BFG All Terrains and new paint. He's not sure what color he wants but its down to a dark gray and the mango tango for now. But who knows, that may change 5 times before it hits the paint shop.
