How much do you think it weigh? I'll say I'm good for around 200 lbs lifting. I thought it was just thin sheet metal figure it couldn't weigh too much.

Thanks, I just might leave the bed in place and work around it I guess will see.

My Comanche came with no AC, swap in everything from a XJ, but not wired up and charged. (unable to find the harness) I may need to pull the main harness and PCM, well it's on the back burner for now. I have notice some model compressor bolts through the side and other from the top just make sure you get the right bracket for your compressor body style. It's really hot here too in So,Calif sometimes I don't feel like working on the Ole manche. Image Not Found Luckily I got my Avalanche with ICE COLD AC to drive around. RCD 6 inch lift, 35 tires. I think you or anybody could do a lot better than Maaco. He paid them $994.14 Any painting tips? light tack coat, work from top down, overlap 50%, paint door jambs under hood first, etc? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgbFaez2MfM

Just documenting the process and condition. Removed both fenders to see if any hidden surprises awaits. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found 22 year old fenders got a little herculiner on them from leftover. Image Not Found Some cut through paint fender flare rubs. Image Not Found Damn it I found some rust on the driver side Lower section no where else. Good thing I caught it now before got out of hand. :fs1: Image Not Found I'm thinking of painting the fenders off the truck maybe painting both side or Por-15 underside panel and body. -

They look pretty beefy to me. I saw some in the Quadratec catalog made by Daystar but those look better and cheaper been wanting to replace mine for awhile now. -

Hey Don I notice your not using the antenna base. I took mine off due to excessive wind noise I was thinking about plugging up the hole before painting I couldn't believe how much wind noise being generated. I'm using one those stick on surface antenna in the shell just wondering if you removed your for the same reason? -
Thanks, Yes I'm taking my time no big hurry and making sure the prep is really good before shooting I heard to many stories of paint job washing off. My Comanche has absolutely no rust and would like to keep that way. I'm planning to use Por-15 on the underside of the panels lower section for added protection from rust. That reminds me I need to repaint my 92 ZX11 also! Thanks I didn't think of Napa I will check them out locally also.

I've decided to shoot the paint myself since I do own a 60 gallon 5hp compressor and an HVLP gun when I painted my cladding on my Avalanche. I may need to build me a spraying booth with large paper rolls or use drop cloth in my carport like boxing it in with some vents and fans. I'm planning on painting it the same color BE Colorado Red so no spraying door jambs, bed etc, but planning on painting the camper shell also. I google how much some say 3 quarts up to 1~5 gallons? some are ready to spray at around $75 a quart and other requires mixing. Found some cheap at $103 a gallon any advise will be appreciated. Thanks

Windshield/Dashboard Bummer
87ComancheLB replied to 64 Cheyenne's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I didn't say I was an expert, just what I experience in my local Junkyards I've seen a few that crack very easily when I pressed down checking them out, what if the kid just accidently placed his hand there and it cracked which can easily happen when they are that far gone, was it his fault for not knowing how fragile it was? -

Sorry I'm not trying to be a jerk but just looking at it from both sides, next time your in the junkyard find some old 20 yr+ sun beaten dash and if you just press down a little it will crack like the San Andrea fault line. I'm not saying that's how far his dash was but it was getting there I've seen that pattern before. -

"My truck is a labor of Love, mine,It keeps me sane." If you really love your truck you would have replaced that dash long ago or at least put some armorall on it, then at l least you would have known what condition it was in. Yes if my truck look in great condition and I kept it that way and he damage it yes I would be PO, but this thing was not, but it looked great, no cracks, but looks can be deceiving even the owner didn't even realize how bad it was. That's the difference between you and me I would have come to my senses and realize that, that dash was on it's way out and I believe most everyone here knows that just don't want to say, instead of saying who right and who wrong, me I would feel guilty asking for a free replacement, but hey more power to ya! Me I would have thank the kid for showing me that my dash board is falling apart! Afterall they are pretty cheap at the wreckers if you can find a good one. Well I hope it works out for you that's all I have to say about this!
