  1. She sure looks in great shape, looks like no rust. Maybe you should pull the carpet back just to check the floor pans. Good deal!
  2. Well the Vinyl has arrived and man is it heavy duty, this thing is nothing like the stock it must be around 2.5-3 millimeters thick it is pretty difficult to work with but it's not bad. Best to lay it out like how it will be installed. I used the string method to determine where to cut for the shifter from back and sides. Nice thing is it has indentations for exact fit, center of front seat bolt, safety harness and certain body shapes. Some insulation but only for the hump. I left it out for this trial fit. Looks like maybe some trimming is needed also. Almost the same texture as the herculiner it's like double herculiner. This may be last time I have to change the flooring it looks that durable. Too bad I'm waiting for my new shifter boot to arrive, but it will be ready.
  3. Is it the exact same oval shape? I call them guys they have no idea. If it is I'll just order it. It's only $6.00. Thanks
  4. Your welcome, hey does yours have 4 bolts pattern? maybe it's the same? If I can only see the enlarge picture.
  5. 1987 4.0L, 5 speed AX5 Looking to replace mine rotted away, 87 to 88 changes? Just wondering if this is the correct boot? mine has a four bolt pattern much like the top one on the 2nd link? Click to enlarge sucks. It says 88-92 MJ What changed from 87? http://www.quadratec.com/products/52109_02.htm http://www.quadratec.com/products/product_search.php?kw=Transmission+boot&submit=Go%21
  6. Thanks Man, I guess being the only owner has it advantages and good weather, well did the second coat looks good letting dry overnight. 8)
  7. Waiting for the 1st coat to dry, some pic's of the progress. Vinyl covering been ship on the way. My beautiful cab. What have I done! scouring pad sucked ended up using 60 Sandpaper.
  8. I went down to the local Kragen store, 1st I just picked up a quart of herculiner $29.95 I figured a quart should be good enough for the cab?and then I saw they had the 1 gallon one for only $89.95-$20 rebate so for $69.95 enough to do a 6ft bed, still a lot better deal oh well planning on doing the nerf bars in herculiner also. I'm just about finished with the prep work. Better rebate deal here $25. That's were my receipt is going. http://www.herculiner.com/specialoffer.html
  9. LOL Well sounded too good also, Well I just happen to have this spare can, but you know your right, might as well go the extra mile.
  10. You know after seeing that post on that 1988 Comanche on Ebay, I saw it today somewhere in one of these forums it had a front snow plow and only 12000 original miles! 31 bids and sold for almost $8K, not saying I'm going to see those kind of prices, who knows maybe I will see more? but I may need to test the waters if you know what I mean. After all money talks and anything for sale even memories.
  11. Good to hear Thanks! Well I removed the carpet and well still looked as good as new. I'm going to go ahead and also seal the driver and passenger floor boards with thick rubbery undercoating for added protection before laying the vinyl. I will also need the rubber boot to the tranny I can see daylight! anyone know where to order one on line?
  12. Ok will do, I kind of regretted ripping it out in the 1st place, seem very rugged never quite gave it a chance before replacing it with carpet and seem like the inside will be easier to keep clean. I will use also some very good quality rubber mats to protect it.
  13. Since I was cleaning back there today I took some pictures to give you an idea about how I went about it. 1st I built the sides against the wheel well full lenght of the bed, top piece just below shell lip add 2 screw per side to secure them to the lip, used assorted foam sizes, marine carpet for durability, rust proof staples used electric staple gun (Stubborn staple driven in by hammer), Piano hinges works great, I used 3/4 plywood, woodscrews and Carpenter glue to built the side/front boxes . The rest just sit in place. Added front compartments. Easy to remove. Bottom pieces used 1/2 inch plywood foam then covered. Image Not Found Lockable front chest. Handles for lifting. Other side same concept. Space was for an old analog TV that failed replaced with LCD extra space created. Removable arm rest/cup holder just sit under window frame for support.

  15. Yeah, I know once I sell her I will regret it badly all those great times I had back there, and all that work I put in and she runs great never had a problem love that 4.0L Maybe once she all back together I may just change my mind. Will see.
  16. Thanks everyone, I had allot of fond memories back there if you know what I mean kind of hard to sell it because of it. Sorry, I don't have any plans on the carpet kit just kind of build it as I went along it is in 5 sections you can kind of see how I did it, it's not really that hard. As for the fender extenders this truck did have some oversize tires once and it did help keep the sides clean, but I agree they don't quite look right with the smaller tires and I'm in Southern California Ventura county area.
  17. I just joined Just some pictures of my 87 2wd LB 5speed, 4.0 Original owner I bought it brand new back in 87 and now only has 86K original miles, California truck just passed smog test, Absolutely no rust, added Brahma Shell and bed liner when new under bed liner Bed like new! (never seen a pebble) custom built carpet kit by me 3/4 inch Maple plywood, modular design easy to remove, 5 storage areas, 6 drink holders, around 5 to 2 inches of foam all around super comfy under Marine carpet, Great for good times has curtains for privacy, LCD TV, Second (all Sony) Stereo amplified system, 10 cd disc changer for main stereo,Deep cycle battery, another Sony Cd player, Fan, control switches. Aux 12VDC power adapters for Laptops etc. Driver side bucket seat needs to be welded or replaced, Passenger side OK, need new covers though. Passenger side rear panel needs re-coat of clear, had a small little fender bender when new, rear quarter panel was repaired but the 21 yr old repair paint job went south. Camera battery when dead. Just added new tires, 15 inch aluminum mags center caps are gone though due to rust. Added side bars, exhaust Headers, Stainless steel Borla muffler, etc. Anyways I'm reinstalling the stereo system I took out in the main cab so that's why some items are being removed. Anyways once I'm finished she going up for sale. Someone here could convert this mint baby to 4X4 and have one nice ride. She's not perfect a few tiny dings here and there but nothing major not too bad for a 21 yr old Comanche. I hope this wasn't too much for the 1st post. lol Absolutely No Rust! Yes it is this clean. Ampified TV antenna, was good for picking up some local station. Rear sliding glass window was installed, but I busted the center glass door, so just in opening to the back area. Nice Pull out full logic Sony XR7180. Controls TV, Stereo, Fan, cdplayer, lights, Aux 12 VDC power. Image Not Found Aux Battery in main front box, extra storage area for blankets, etc.
