    Got snow?

I have had a need to travel to Cape Cod several times recently. I listen to WBZ AM radio for traffic updates. They were covering a press conference with Boston's Mayor, Marty Walsh. When asked about snow removal, he stated, "We've had 70" of snow in the past 14 days ... it will take time to remove it from the city". That's almost SIX FEET of snow in a metropolitan area. Think about it. It's not as if you can just chuck it over the hump on the side of your driveway. My nearly 90 year old parents live in Hyannis, on the Cape. Their road was a goat path. The Cape is generally temporate and any snowfall is usually gone in days. There's easily 36 inches of snow on the ground. Barnstable County (which includes Hyannis) does not have capacity to re/move snow.

    Got snow?

So, if you're not in New England, you've probably heard we've got some snow here. I was an Air Force brat and moved around a bunch, but have spent the bulk of my life in New Engand. I survived the "Blizzard of '78", but I'll tell ya ... I do not remember ever seeing 12" storm after 12" storm followed by single digit temps for prolonged periods. My home town of Manchester got a good 24" of snow a few weeks back, followed by several smaller storms that left 12-14" in their wake. It's snowing as I type and we're forecast to get at least another 8" of snow. This is friggin' crazy! So much for global warming.
  3. Had a few spontaneous offers on my 2wd Eliminator before I thought about selling it. A couple people just stopped by while I was out cutting the lawn, or doing yard work. When I decided to sell it to buy 4WD (I'm not a wrench, so I thought it would be easier/cheaper to find a good 4WD than to convert) I sold it for what I was offered. Made money over what I paid and spent on it (including shipping it to NH from IN), but it was literally "rust free". Checked paint, but absolutely rust free. I love my current MJ, but it needs the bed rot fixed. I'm not a body guy either, so I figure it will set me back a few bucks to have that resolved. I've had offers ... even paused for a moment, but I think my nephew will be driving it when I'm done and gone.
  4. A most worthy candidate! Good lookin' truck.
  5. I'm a flatlander just like you. Manchvegas.
  6. Howdy Naybah ... Keep an eye on the classified ads subforums. There are two sale listings. One for your stuff and one for posts found on Craigslist/eBay ..etc (not your stuff). I often crosspost ads for MJ's for sale that I find while surfing. As to what you might expect to pay? Opinions and tastes vary widely on here. There are also a multitude of "What's it worth?" posts in the Pub. It's up to you as to the value of the truck in which you would be interested. As for "knowledge and know how" to bring it to your standards, you can't find a better resource than the members, moderators and administrators of this site. Great bunch of people.
  7. No price listed in the ad (my guess is it's silly), but short miles (106K) and good bones. http://www.carsforsale.com/used-cars-for-sale/1989-jeep-comanche-lavonia-ga-172396296
  8. Still "in search of". Anyone? I'd be just as happy with a clean used one. It's going in an '01 XJ with "agate" interior.
  9. Did you get someone to drive while you investigate?
  10. True story ... probably why our beloved trucks rot from the inside out on the floor pans. I don't take my truck "swimming" (as many of our brethren on here do), so I hope to keep everything dry.
  11. No comment ( <<< other than that one ... another post from pennypinchiest* (me*) ) http://nh.craigslist.org/cto/4838625617.html I have a 1989 Jeep Comanche pu, 2wd, short bed, 4 cyl, 5speed. This truck is from Naples Florida,I do have a copy of the Florida Title, it is in very good shape, it has no rot what so ever, it only weighs 2800 pounds, a perfect restoration project or hotrod truck. call (978)857-4484. 1989 Jeep Comanche odometer: 140000 paint color : brown type : pickup drive : rwd fuel : gas transmission : manual title status : clean cylinders : 4 cylinders condition: excellent
  12. You get what you pay for. I bought my carpeting on eBay. Paid short money (<$150 delivered). Good quality carpeting, but the backing was 1/2" thick and only covered the tunnel and floor pans. Nothing under or behind the seats. I had to spend quite a bit more to fill the gaps for a sound barrier. I don't know what this carpet looks like, but he describes it having "thick" mass backing. If you've ever pulled your stock carpet out, you'll know the definition of "thick". It makes a difference if you have any concern for road noise.
  13. Not mine. http://boston.craigslist.org/gbs/pts/4823166796.html Up for sale is a brand new Comanche carpet. Color is gray and it had the thick mass backing. I cut the transfer case lever hole slightly too big so about 1/2 inch of the transfer case linkage shows and is not covered by the mini console. Maybe a full console will cover it. I'm pissed off at myself and am starting the carpet over. Sides still need to be trimmed. If you have a solution for the hole, or are not ocd this is a great deal. Texts preferred. 7816987249
  14. Anyone know a good freight company? Wonder what it would cost to get it home.
  15. As the author of the OP of this thread, I edited the initial post to respond to the seller's sensibilities. I cross posted the CL ad to give the vehicle exposure in a forum of interest. As a penny pinchiest, tight wadiest, miser, I wish you the best in your endeavor.
  16. Been posted here a couple times ... no surprise it's still for sale. He's not asking 20K, he's asking for the best offer OVER 20K. http://comancheclub.com/topic/44307-20000-comanche/ http://comancheclub.com/topic/40487-best-offer-over-20000/
  17. too late

  19. Guess you can't "Bump" and "hide". Still in search of. Left coast, southwest seems to have lots of them. This is essentially my old XJ with cruise. >>> http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?doorCodes=2&zip=03109&endYear=2000&modelCode1=CHER&showcaseOwnerId=70747&startYear=2000&makeCode1=JEEP&doorCode=2&searchRadius=0&extColorsSimple=WHITE&mmt=%5BJEEP%5BCHER%5B%5D%5D%5B%5D%5D&listingId=386998244&Log=0
  20. There are several threads in the MJ Tech forum for bench to bucket conversion. Go to "MJ Tech" and search "seat" or "seats". Lots of good info with pictures and arrows too!
