My "new" 88? (Formerly: Granite State Clean-up - '90 MJ)
NHMJXJ replied to NHMJXJ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
Been a while since I posted anything to this thread and as it turns out, the clean-up never happened. New chapter ... going back in time. I replaced the '90 with an '88. More to come on that. I bought the '90 in 2012 and had high hopes, but life happens and I never got a "roundtuit". Fast forward 6 years, the rot got ahead of me. Shopped her around for repair and paint, did the math and sadly, decided it would be more cost effective to find a more solid foundation (Enter: the '88). After parking the trucks side by side and swapping what I wanted, I parked her on the front lawn with a sign and my numbers, and put up a CL ad (I'll attach the pics). That was about 6PM. Got a phone call at 9 the next morning and was counting ca$h that night. Seems the guy had been commuting past my house for years and was waiting for a for sale sign to appear. I mentioned in another thread that he'd already inspected the truck bottom-up before I ever put it up for sale. (Kind of unnerving). He's a local guy. I told him about Comanche Club, so we may see it around. Here she is, end-game. -

Smoked directionals ... The outside is complete (for now) ... need to replace the headliner. The winter collection of bolt on, stick on, stick in, stuff that was in the corner of my livingroom, is in its proper place. -

May it always be that easy. Thanks Don! -

Does anyone know how to open the rear hatch from the inside? The handle on mine broke. -

PVD Chrome ... they're knock-offs. Very reasonably priced for chrome. I would have been disappointed if you didn't say something! If you don't mind aftermarket (read: Chinese) chrome doo-dads, a lot can be had on eBay. The grille and headlight doors were a package and were less that $100 delivered. The rear bumper $97 delivered. The tailgate hatch visor is discontinued and a clean one is hard to find. There's a vendor on eBay from whom I've bought overhead consoles. I asked if he would keep an eye out when he was harvesting parts and he came through! I have a spare that the chrome is pealing up, but the visor in the pic is super clean. -

It wasn't meant to be. There's always another truck. And ... you'll find the one your really want, right after you buy the one you bought.

eBay 89 manche with Cherokee swap

Curious about the color choice. This is the third MJ with 97+ conversion I've seen with this paint color choice. One in Florida, one in Mexico, now this one. Am I missing something ? Regardless ... nicely done. Wonder where it will end? -
Frequently. And as Don mentioned ... I also have lots of random "chats about the truck". I live on a well traveled rural route and the truck is parked essentially in a field, so lots of passersby will stop and ask. They stop to catch the sunset, or take pics of the MJ/XJ line-up. I recently advertised my '90 with a 4 sale sign and my phone number. I returned a message and told the guy he was welcome to look at the pictures on Craigslist because it was pouring rain. He informed me that he'd seen the truck up close and personal on a few occasions over the years. He said he was just waiting for a "for sale" sign to appear. Kind of disturbing to know someone was poking around my stuff when I wasn't there. Long story short, he owns it.

I watched the premier and thought, "$10K prize" for trashing your truck? I dunno. Some of the trucks have wayyy more than that in them. It is entertaining though.

Thanks Don ... Didn't think to look for a Truck-Lite website. Duh I wasn't aware there were different styles either, but it makes sense. The pic you posted is what I have seen in searches and Eagle Lights look just like that. Another conundrum. The TL website descriptions read Right 27490C/ Left 27491C Hand "Side" rather than "Drive". The reflectors are different. Separate question for you ... The Eagle Lights are literally plug and play ... what's the purpose of the Truck Lites stripped wires?

Found this ebay listing, but the images of the advertised item doesn't look like a Truck-Lite. Can anyone confirm? I want to do a comparison of Truck-Lite, Eagle Light (I have the latter) and don't want to buy another knock-off. https://www.ebay.com/itm/TRUCK-LITE-27490C-5-X-7-LED-Headlamp/162816616717?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160727114228%26meid%3D24ee4118a6ae4bb08ea11059cd6b34ac%26pid%3D100290%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D162816616717%26itm%3D162816616717&_trksid=p2060778.c100290.m3507

And it's gone. CL pittsburgh > for sale > cars & trucks - by owner This posting has been deleted by its author. -
I neglected to mention the center cap issue is only on the 2WD.
-
I had the same trouble when finding wheels to fit my Eliminator. The cap in the center of the hub sticks out so far you can't put a center cap on the wheels. I love the MOABs and they look great on your truck!
-
Found it! It's actually just the end cap that's trimmed/notched.
