wow.. that tps adapter is just stupidly priced... is there anyway to jerry-rig it? id rather not waste $125 doesnt the tps go on the bellhousing? why would i need another one or an adapter? couldnt i use the one i have now, iam not swaping trannys just the motor.. and if the block is the same it should bolt on and work like it did with my old 4.0.. iam using my old ecu as well..and since mine is manual it shouldnt make a difference i think

thanks for the info guys its lots of help and i hope to get my black manche up and running again, so i can do a leaf swap and put the 8.8 in the rear finally.. so i pretty much just plug everything in.. slap the 88s flywheel on and crank it
-
here's my plan, i get confused when everyone tells me do this do that this works this doesnt... i wanna put the newer motor into my truck..using all my stock harness/ ECU.. i wanna mod a little as i can its just a trail truck so i wanna throw the motor in to wheel it.. it was an automatic so would i have to change flywheels? and could i just bolt all the sensors and all from the 88 manche to this 96 motor? and still use my 88s ECU?
-
well iam into scale rc trucks ive seen this on a few rc sites iam a member of, if i had 300 layin around id get just the body, and make it a comanche, they are cool but very pricey!
-
well the cherokee iam getting the motor from is an auto so i can't use the ecu.. but if everything works like yall say i can just plug it all in, id have to swap flywheels and plug it in and it should work i hope
-
would i need the ECU? and wiring harness? arent they OBD 1? ... i was gonna make my own harness anyways but should i get the ECU, and downpipe..etc..?
-
oh haha well i have one layin around from my clutch swap and i guess ill try the 96 motor... sounds easier
-
well now i have a shot at getting a 96 motor for 200, how easy would that be to swap? i could use the flywheel off my 88 blown motor right?
-
hey i was wondering, if i buy a 01 4.0 engine would i be able to put it in my 88 comanche without modifying anything? what is the cut off year that i can just put the engine into my truck and plug it in?
-
yea i saw that tab and used it while i shook and pulled the tranny.. every bolt is out.. this thing is so ghetto riged its not even funny.. everything that ive looked into fixing so far has been so F***ed.. so iam really not suprised.. but so dissapointed its taking this long .... i went to change the taillight bulbs and someone put WOOD screws in them then tried to drill them out but couldnt so they were flat headed wood screws holdin the taillights on WTF??? its just little stuff like that haha so iam not suprised when things go wrong now
-
yep i pulled the starter, and the crossmember is all the way off.. everything is off. this isnt the first time ive done a clutch.. but it is the first time ive done one on a 2wd tranny i thought it would be easier.. but its making me regret owning this truck
-
lastnight i took the 91 2wd up to the shop to swap the slave cylinder which is what was bad all along.. i got everything unbolted had the tranny tilted down.. undbolted the bellhousing from the motor.. but the tranny will not come out for nothing! i tried for hours to get it off the motor but it still won't budge :headpop: is there some trick to it? when i did the clutch on my 4wd tranny..(the 88 manche) .. it popped off after unbolting it from the motor.. so wtf? iam out of ideas and its just sitting up at the shop right now tranny hanging...
-
its preferance but also know how, if you know what your doing you can make your own lift kit.. as i did and many on here.. or by not knowing much youd have to pay.. its worth it to learn lol
-
thats kind of expensive seeing as how i can make my own rock sliders and stuff
-
na that didnt kill it, it did mess up the wiring and CPS, but i think the motor just being so old killed it.. after the creek i changed the oil and did a complete tune up..
-
that does suck i sent pics of my truck in guess they didnt like it.. but they put a beater in??
-
here's a few of me and my sisters husband gettin stuck... or rolled haha Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
-
but on the trails it shouldnt matter if they arent perfect right?
-
i was thinkin since my black comanche is offroad only now.. would it be bad for me to swap my own gears? not really makin it perfect since ill only be on trails and stuff.. i don't wanna spend the money to have them set and crap
-
yea i found a 1980 wagoneer a 81 and 79 that i wanna try to get the fronts from.. which is better? i think brettm has a 80 waggy axle?
-
yea but that axle was drivers drop, and had 10 bolts around the cover.. i accidentally said passenger drop on the first post.. but i meant drivers.. so it would fit my manche
-
the more i look at chevy axles the more it looks like the chevy 7.5 or w/e.. with 10 bolts on the cover.. which is what this axle has... can i get 5.13s with these? are they strong?
-
could it be a 10 bolt? it looked like a dana 30 but with lockout hubs...
-
hey guys i thought i had found a drivers drop 44 but when i went back to the junkyard it turned out to be something else ill try to get a pic of it but can anyone show me pics of a cj d30, chevy 10bolt, and a few others? so i can compare.. i am very confused as to what this axle is.. i left it at the yard because i thought it was a dana30 but it has manually locking hubs?? cj30?? i think i may just get leafs and cut my d30 up to accept leafs...
