Can you Id these under dash plugs?
88XJSport replied to robfg67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The big plug on the left (looking in the second pic) is not for the underdash lights, as I added mine myself. The underdash light harness is way up the dash, and there should be a piece of tape on the end of the plug that reads "Courtesy Lamp." The tweeter plug looked thinner and flatter (nothing like pictured) as I recall seeing tweeters in a junkyard. So, since I have both those plugs empty too, i don't have a clue what they could be for... -
Very nice! Too bad it wasnt a short box...

Yes. That is the clock harness. Find a clock with a matching plug, and plug it in. -

HELP! suicidal '90 Renix 4.0
88XJSport replied to A-man930's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I say check your fuel pressure to make sure it isnt slooowly dropping below sufficient psi (~30) -
I believe when OBD1 started (91) they can be reset. Anything older than 91 needs to change the unit. Everyone just removes it though.

Upgrading instrument cluster on 87 MJ
88XJSport replied to pmorehouse3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
No. Find a cluster for the correct year outlined by others, and plug and play. Change the 2 senders mentioned, and everything will work. Including the tach. -
How many miles does that say???

Beautiful build up man. But one question. Are the rear defrost and rear wiper switches going to be used for somethng else??

http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=76857 Thats what I used. Not my write up, and don't take any credit for it. don't know about the 91+, but 90 and older would work for this write up.

Anyone know how the factory toggle switches work?

Anyone know how the factory toggle switches work?
88XJSport replied to 88XJSport's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a relay and ground wire on pin 85, and a ground from the top pin of the switch going to ground. For reference, I have top prong to ground, middle prong to pin 86, and the botton prong to parking light circuit. You are saying I should remove the top pin on the switch (pin A) all together? I'm a little slow with wiring, sorry... -
I just wired up my bajas to the factory fog light switch using this schematic, since I wanted to leave the switch in the ON position, but have the fogs come on with the parking lights/headlights. http://www.accessconnect.com/fog_drivin ... wiring.htm Everything works as it should, except the little orange indicator light is always on when the park/headlights are on, but the fog switch can be up or down. Anyone know how to make it shut off when the switch is down?

The only thing i imagine the plug would be for is the emergency brake light for use on the Cherokee's, since the emergency brake is in the center. (My Xj has a plug plugged into the brake lever)

Ya i was gonna guess its RENN-UHX, because of being french and all, but ill still stick to REE-NIX, since I'm not french haha.
-
I always wondered....how do you pronounce Renix?? Is it "REE-NICKS" Or is it "RENN-UX"

Damn. This is why I'm never selling my XJ. Been in the family for over a decade. Not gonna let it go to some idiot.

Thanks. Ya it took me over a year to find the right one, and it was out of a 92 XJ with 90k miles. It was dirty, but not scratched or cracked. Thanks. Glad I could help. Ive been meaning to do this add for a while, and since I just joined here, and the "buckets and console" seems to be a popular mod with the MJ's, I thought I would do a write up for you guys. Figure it could help out a few of you. -

My ebrake is busted, no state inspection, automatic etc, so its just decoration. I know, I should get the selector cover that you are talking about, but every yard that I go to its either torn up, or missing, so Ill forget about it until I can get a good one, then ill throw it in. -
