Did the SOA swap on the MJ, and found that the Mopar spring perches do not need the center pin hole drilled out, or the centerpins themselves "flipped" as the hole is just big enough for the pin to fit. :D Figured out that the drivshaft is now 2" too short, the parking brake cables will still work and HOLY SNAP!!! THIS THING IS STUPID TALL while sitting on 31s" !!!

It can't be simple, as some jackweed decided to add a computer to the mix. Overeducated dumbaZZeZ. -
Hey jsut wondering if anybody would be in for a M&G and some trailriding in the Daniel Boone NAt'l Forest in April. Holler back if anyone wants to go...

Pattern is "small Ford"- 5 x 4.5" circle. Also used on some Dodges trucks in the '70s'.
-
Tried it with my board name, and it came up with "Donkey Schlong." :clapping: I can type that on here, right?
-
I don't believe that it is for the factory rollbar, as the brackets on my MJ don't line up with the plate. The brackets straddle the bed re-inforcement , and the bar is bolted to the bedfloor, and then the brackets. It "might" be for the build process, and served as an alignment point, all though why they needed that big of one, I don't know. There are several such points on the chassis, if you look.

Anybody notice that the undercarriage is NOT a Jeep, more like a Dodge truck....look at the axle Ubolts. Dodge mounts the springs like that, and look at the styling of the steel wheels. And the gas tank is a sidemount, etc., etc..... Everytime that I see this, the story is different. I do love how the idiot managed to wipe out the pinion seal while they were at it, too.

You don't. The inner boot rests on top of the wide part of the shifter. Yours has either stretched over the years/shifts and fallen down or has split, and then fallen.
-
I think that we need a "full width" picture, so we can see where the diff. is located: under the motor ( like an Early Bronco ) or more normal, also does it have locking hubs, or what. Yes, I know that the EB axle is NOT a HP, but a fullwidth could have been cut down, etc.....
-
Try the Stealership, then. You want the boot for a '97-06 TJ.
-
The Jeep TJ Wrangler uses a boot that is still available, and fits correctly. I got mine in the wrecking yard for $2.

Surfs' up. If you look at the lower part of both housings in the pix, the D44 has a small flat "lip" hanging down at the bottom of the cover, and the front axle does not. The covers are pretty similar in shape, I'll give you that. I have the D44 under my XJ AND my MJ, and I have had the lids off many times, for assorted reasons. The lids DO NOT interchange, but the YOKES DO. This is good because IF you can find the axles from an old CJ, you can easily switch the CJ "U"bolt style yokes in place of the stupid "strap and bolt" style that the XJ/MJ have.

:hmm: THAT def. blows. March, Ya' aint gotta love or hate it, just survive it. 2 Days ago, it was 78* here, and tonight it is 22*, snowing and ice. WTH, man. :wall: :grrrr:

I have had to weld another nut on to one like that before.
-
Looks like the MJ came with 2nd Gen. Teraflex control arms on it, too. Oh, and I agree on the HP D-30 front, D-44 rear. The rear axle is an esp. nice bonus.
-
I would add the 2 or 3 leaf, as the lower leaves are where you get the arch/ strength from in aleaf spring pack.
-
Which bushings, exactly? The ones on the top of the axle or the ones in the control arms? The ones on the top of the axle you can change using a "C" clamp and a couple sockets. As for the ones in the control arms, mine are all aftermarket, so the bushings are different than the stock arms.

Yeah. My wife just finshed detailing it for me. (I hope that wasn't my anniversery present...)

Works REALLY well on a Sunday, when the Godsquad is inside the DQ and you light the ether off and everyone gets to watch the 36" Swamper jump about 5ft off the ground with a big "POP".  Oh, yeah. Backwoods enterainment at its' finest. Right next to watching the drunk guy in sandles walk through the campfire, and say something dumb..." Wow, dude. That's hot." and then watch him actually realize what he just DID. Smoking sandles and all, he ran for the creek and cannonballed into like 2 ft of water. Needless to say, somebody didn't want to go riding the next day.

Interesting hood scoop. Self made? Oh, and I really dig the "Buckshot dimples" by the fuel door. Nice touch!

Nice to know that I am NOT the only one to get banned from Wally-world. I got banned for test driving the riding mowers......through Lawn & Garden and in to the Grocery side to pick up some munchies. I "think" what made them the maddest was the burnouts going through the main aisle. :clapping: 22 HP motor, full throttle, and dump it in 3rd. :brows:

Yeah, I've got pix, including swapping the nose over to the late model, but me and Photobucket ain't getting along right now. I click on the "img" tag, it says copied, I go over to the webpage to post the pix, and the only thing that I get on my dropdown is "delete". I don't know what the hell is going on, but it is REALLY annoying. :fs1: I am going to go to the library, and see if thier comp. will let me post pix.

Got to test said winch. So far, no troubles. One of my friends came to visit, and when he was backing out of the drive, he ended up driving off into the culvert next to the drive. It is about 4 ft. deep, and just the right width to swallow a Toyota Taco. :clapping: The truck came out of it with the bedside knocked in, and the drivers' side taillight busted, but the winch worked great.
-
Found out that you can mount a 9,000 lb. winch using the towhook brackets for a starting point for the cradle, put the winch plate on the bottom of the brackets, and the winch WILL actually fit under the grill surround and still let you lock/unlock the clutch on the winch housing. SWEET! No extra long nose hanging way out front. :clapping:  And yes, the brackets have been reinforced and extra steel added in a few choice places.

Took long enough. :D Nah, I've got a friend in MD that we called Stimpy, since always acted like the cat. That, and he wasn't the brightest Crayon in the box. Good friend though.
