  1. It was the starter. Brushes, solenoid, and it is all just like new. Thx guys.
  2. Welcome....just drove by your place last week. :)
  3. BTW, how smooth should the starter turn over? I'm wondering if free of the engine it is turning fine, but bogs down when installed?
  4. Okay, I'm a newb here with electrical, but the battery has 12v - I'll check the starter. I assume test the solenoid lead, and the lead for the cable coming from the battery - while trying to crank?
  5. I just removed, cleaned, bench tested, and replaced the starter on our 89 4.0l. Turn the key, and there's nothing. When I bench tested the starter, it seemed to happily whirr as long as the current was connected. Turn the key, and the lights dim. Any ideas?
  6. Better than wheeling back there, and having authorities of some kind show up and start asking you about a body they find in it. :dunno:
  7. Well, according to the guy down the street, it's more than $10/tank....his mileage went down to something like 10mpg when he tried 89. So it's actually cheap IHO to run the higher $$$$.
  8. Sounds like you have some well thought out plans....best of luck to you.
  9. What's the point, then? How would you track them....everyone would just have one from certain years, leaving no way to account for them. The idea is to be able to account for what MJ's are left, vin numbers, condition, original engines, etc.
  10. This would be easier: http://www.film.queensu.ca/cj3b/SerialN ... ngine.html
  11. Sweet YJ/CJ....I don't get down there much, but if you're ever up this way, look us up and send a message on our club forum. :)
  12. Here, of course. Actually, back and forth between sleet and snow right now.
  13. I'm thinking if it would, more people would do it.

    Dog Adoption

We got very luck. An adoption agency was partnered with a petstore, so they placed some dogs in there to get more exposure. Got an Australian Cattle dog cross (blue heeler) who was already trained, no strings attached. Very mild, polite, friendly, and extremely protective of the house.....you do NOT come in here unannounced. Sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're not.
  15. Sweet, welcome aboard!
  16. I guess it depends on where you are located. We're not to far from the Rockies, and CB's work great, but not if you need to get outside help. There's lots of guys in the areas who DO use Hams, therefore it makes sense to have one (I'm thinking in a year or two I'll get into one). However, in the lower 48 I just wouldn't bother, except in a few places.
  17. I've seen a few threads where people have done this. I have NEVER seen a thread where the owner DIDN'T say that they would never do it again. 8)
  18. I wouldn't consider something ghey that could save a life sometime. Although in Indiana, I can't see where you would get anywhere remote enough that you'd need one. Up here, I can get myself into enough trouble within 45 minutes of driving time.
  19. pop? pop? ARE YOU CALLING ME "POP"????!??!
  20. It's too bad that the money for this program couldn't have been used elsewhere to better benefit. All it did was remove a lot of useable vehicles from the roads so that overinflated factories could sell off the stock they had. In other words, a bailout for the companies, not the consumers.
  21. Thanks guys, I found a set for $60...if I get them, I was thinking of painting them a nice glossy black.
  22. These WERE on the Comanche before I bought it, but I'm not sure what they are. I know they have been referred to as "turbine" rims.
  23. Get Bronson to come on here and continue the thread. BTW, did the Cummins even know it was behind there? I have an 03 CTD myself. :)
  24. Totally understandable....good luck with the next one. :)
  25. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
