"Worlds Fastest Comanche" Peter Lechtanski 1952 - 2016
dunl replied to Automan2164's topic in The Pub
I haven't been on here in ages, but I still fondly remember Pete and his dream. I'll pass this on to our club. From the Red Deer Jeep Packrats in Alberta, Canada, our condolences. :(- 21 replies

5 weeks is super impressive. But also realize that if you eel you need to drink to hang out with your friends you: a) need new friends, especially if THEY need you to drink to hang out with them, and B) there's lot's of ways to have fun with friends without drinking. If you're like me and just like the taste of it, grab some non-alcoholic beer. Otherwise, bring along a case of Pepsi/Coke.

Well, how goes the battle?

If anyone is interested and wins the prize, I'll personally send it to you free of charge. Open to all the fellow CC members here. :) http://reddeerjeep.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... =26&t=1471

dunl replied to MJ86YJ90's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My 89 would crank for what seemed forever compared to normal engines.....drove completely fine. -
Ok, I needed that. :jump:

Well, time to wade in on this discussion. Some of you may remember how un-fond I am of some of Darren's posts, and how I have posted for all to see how it might be better if he just went away from the forum. Post-lady of the night? You bet he is. Attention getter? You nailed it. Someone who possibly needs help and support? No clue. But I'm going to give it to him and the benefit of the doubt, because the other option (not giving it to him, have him fall off the wagon, and ruin someone's life whether it be his daughter's, wive's, his own....)..... I can't quite live with that fact. Darren, addictions can be hard to deal with. I know because....I actually don't have a problem with them. But I do realize from friends that I'm some kind of an anomaly. I used to smoke 2 1/2 packs a day....quit cold turkey, no problems. Sometimes I like a smoke every now and then....by that I mean the time period in between is 6 months, 1 year, sometimes 3 years.....been 5 years now for me. No urges, no wants....nothing. I have one if I feel like it. I know of no one like this....that is to say, all of my friends find it very hard to kick habits. They struggle. Being Catholic, if I want to give something up for Lent....it is no problem. But that doesn't make me better that anyone out there who struggles with things like this. In fact, I consider myself weaker. I've never had to fight the fight that others have had. And if I did, I don't know if I could do it. Four weeks....excellent accomplishment. That's an incredible time period.....nothing you should throw away. Consider the previous poster's mention of joining AA...why not? You're past the first steps already. Keep it up...like also previously mentioned, if you want it enough, you can work towards a great freedom here. And further, who wants to tell their friends that Dad is an alcoholic? I'm not going to worry about whether this is a joke or not, because if it is you've already received your punishment. My best and sincerest wishes of good luck to you.

No one even interested in starting their own team? :( I think I'm going to try and have a prize locally here from our jeep club for the jeeper with the best moustache....just a good way to raise some money for a good cause. :)

Hi gang!!! I’m joining the growing club of modern gentlemen who believe in the virtues of fine moustachery, immaculate grooming and growing a moustache for Movember. I am looking for like-minded ladies and gentlemen to join my team to change the face of men’s health. Movember is about raising funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer. Close to 4,400 men die of prostate cancer in Canada each year and one in six men will be diagnosed during his lifetime. It’s time we did something about this. The more people I can get on board, the more lives we can impact. I am asking you to join my team and either grow a moustache as a Mo Bro, or join as a Mo Sista to help recruit other gentlemen. To join my Movember team go to http://ca.movember.com/mospace/605334/ and follow the steps. Once registered you'll be sent all the information you need to raise funds and start growing as part of my Movember team. If you’re interested in learning more about the work that is being carried out as a result of Movember funds, feel free to read the details at http://ca.movemberfoundation.com/research-and-programs. I hope you join me to change the face of men’s health. It's also a fun way to go about this important task. Simply start clean shaven on Nov. 1st, and grow your best Mo for the month of Movember! Cheapest Way to Swap 8 Tires?
dunl replied to 1987Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Why yes, there is, and it doesn't involve switching tires onto "new" rims. Do what I do: post an ad asking if anyone in your local area club or classifieds have a cheap set of crap "rollers" on 5x4.5 rims. Usually you can find some for real cheap. Plus you get an extra set of rims out of it, and can sell them to pay it off. -
diesel comanche mpg compared to the Renix....?
dunl replied to dunl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hmmm...so in their stock form, they have a little less torque than a 2.5. I guess that'd be okay for offroading, but the OM617 (the 79 that I have anyway, OM617.50) has 110bhp, 168ft-lbf torque. But then I'd have to swap it in, build an adaptor, etc. Oh, and I did some research on here as well...you poor guys don't have many of these, while up here in Canada there's a few kicking around. Parts, of course, to keep them running might be ludicrous, seeing as sometimes we have problems finding aftermarket items and now even common items in some cases up here. -
diesel comanche mpg compared to the Renix....?
dunl replied to dunl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Don't take this the wrong way guys, but interest in something from an academic standpoint doesn't make it a moot point. I'm interested in them as I have a 3.0 5 cyl Merc engine, and wanted to compare the original turbodiesel to the gas version..the possibility of moving to a 3.0, this gives me some idea as to what a swap might produce. So Pat..not much torque compared to a normal diesel....how about compared to a gasser? :dunno: More, or equal? -
Canadian's Comanche, let see your truck and location !!
dunl replied to Red 1989 MJ's topic in Canada
I'm pretty sure you didnt buy that comanche in quebec ...... there is no rust on it mouhahahahahahahaha I dunno. I just helped a friend move a non-running garage find yesterday with complete floor pans and underneath rust free. An 88, too. -

Only thing I can suggest is that when the dizzy isn't lined up by even one tooth, it won't even cough on these engines. So that's prob not it. -

I really think you should flatdeck the Eliminator.....then we could both have matching trailers. :D

I'm glad to hear that your son is okay. I'd believe the part about his tires hitting the curb and then rolling the ZJ over because, you see, our 93 ZJ we used to own saved my son and I one time. We were driving home on a dark evening, up a hill. As we came over the blind hill, three things became apparent. One, a vehicle was pulling partly off the road on my right side. Two, an ambulance with flashing lights was coming towards us. And three, there was a dead moose laying across our lane of traffic, right between the two vehicles. I tried to hit the brake, but we hit the moose first. Lucky for us, I didn't get a chance to brake and bring the nose down right into the moose, as we may have flipped. However, we launched over the moose. Completely. When we came down, the impact blew the rear right tire out, and somehow the ZJ remained in an upright and fairly controllable position - enough to pull off the highway. So i'd consider them to be a fairly stable vehicle, even if we were only airborne for what seemed like 15 seconds, but was probably more like 1.5. However, sliding into a curb sideways should really roll most vehicles unless they are at a very low speed.

Good to know.....guess I'll get to check it out in person. :)

And here I have been telling Waytec all day that I was sure that you couldn't take a 97+ engine without using all the interior gauges....I thought some were reverse polarity or something?

The only advice I can give you is that if you are posting on a forum about this, you already know the answer and are just looking for us to verify it for you...so man up and move on. I realize that I need to make time for my wife as well, but then again I married her, didn't I? If I didn't want to make time for her then obviously I would have made a wrong choice. Same goes on her side....if she doesn't want to make any time for you to do your thing, obviously you made a wrong choice too. You need to find someone who can run both ways down the street.
