  1. Separate Tech Forum for NON-MJ 4x4 or Jeep specific ?'s... I know the occasional TJ, XJ (acutally lots of XJ), CJ, WK, JK, etc question come trough and I'm not sure if these belong in Tech or Pub or whatever... while not a ton of these come thru, it might be cool if the "Tech" were MJ ONLY, or "MJ Tech" and a seperate "Non-MJ Tech" for those of us MJ owner who may happen to drive other Jeeps... I know there is JeepForum or JeepsUnlimited or Pirate4x4 for much of that kind of stuff, but honestly I prefer the company here, and would rather ask questions to the MJ guys who have knowledge and experience with other models as well. I don't know that it would get a LOT of activity, but I think at least some... Just a thought... Wade
  2. I told them that I hoped that they fired the guy that decided to kill the Comanche in favor of the Dakota...
  3. I hope you didn't take offense when I busted your stones about it being ugly over on JeepForum when you posted over there... I was just messing with you.. But I did get a chance to pimp this site... Welcome...
  4. Did you disconnect the Speedo Cable Nut from the TCase, and then pull the whole cable out with the Console thru the hole in the firewall. It sounds like you are describing the clamp/lock washer thing that mounts on a frame bolt about 1/2 down the cable to between the dash and the T-Case. I'm not sure about the Guages... I know the big wiring harness on mine would only connect one way, but the smaller one on the left would fit in either way, and only one of em was right (I'm not super techy hear either, but had my dash appart with a cluster swap of my own a week or two ago.)
  5. 2 Wiring Harnesses (One Far Left, One in about the Center) and the Speedo Cable, and the 6 Screws that hold the thing in and it should slide right out...mine was tight on the dash, so some light persuasion and it came right out... My Speedo cable was also a clipped one, clip busted, had to make a run to the JY/PnP to find another one...
  6. Maybe some of this... Lots of this; ... and maybe going to buy one of these on Saturday...
  7. I'm thinking earlier than many of you (well, not MiniB)... June 24th...
  8. Didn't hurt mine... I ran my new cluster for a few days before some sensors that I bought from a forum member arrived...Everything else worked oK... SW2
  9. mmmmm.... Tasty Queen... I don't even see said "lowrider" you mention...
  10. I don't fix anything on either one of my trucks without breaking at least 3 others... That's just the rules of my garage... Sw2
  11. #1, you have #2's stamp of approval... that looks GREAT! #2
  12. DAMN CRAIGSLIST... I HATE YOU... This would nearly be a twin to my White MJ... I'm guessing the engine has a million miles or something... $1500 for a running XJ, newer, with HO Engine and rear D44 or $500 for a non-running MJ... **EDIT *** MEH, It's sale pending some other dude, so I probably didn't want an XJ anyhow... http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/682306103.html
  13. Yah Full Sized SUV actually, 5.3L V8 ~9000 lb Towing Capacity, etc... I think I've elimintaed the Tow Dolly from the equation and just going to borrow the flatbed trailer that I used to tow the TJ up to a 4x4Club run earlier this year. Has the Dual Axles with the electronic brakes (and I have the controller head and such). Like you said the hard part will be getting it up the ramps. I do have a come-a-long, I'm just not sure what it's rated at This part could be a challenge around here... I have some guys that are regulars and pros at the local Pick and Pulls...maybe I could get one of them to look for a tranny for me on 50% off day or whatever...
  14. 87= $4.07 89 = $4.27 91 = $4.49 and I saw desiel for $4.99 at a couple places arround town.. Pretty bad when the meters shut off at $75 with my Credit Card Purchase and my Tahoe (26 Gal Tank) is only about 3/4 full... Sw2
  15. Talked to the guy today... I'm gonna call back Friday night and if he still has it, go up and look on Saturday...I'm taking cash if I go, and will have to rent a tow dolly or trailer to bring it home ...and I will repeat my ?... "How hard would it be to hookup an 2WD mj to a uhaul tow dolly to tow home behind my tahoe? I've towed the tj on a borrowed fladbed trailer before, so I know it'll tow just fine" He said the engine runs "really well" @ ~150K... Might need to replace the rear seal, but if I had the thing yanked, it would have probably been on the list of stuff to do anyhow (I actually need to find a "list" for an engine swap since I've never done one before)...You pro's on here could probably bust out a swap in less than an hour, including stopping for a beer and pizza run  Said the Pukegoat was toast... JUST got a couple pics.... the "apparent" Very Nice Black interior might be enough to push this into the No Brainer Category...
  16. Tripod might not be a bad idea either...
  17. Its FAR FAR FAR Away from you I'm pretty sure... actually I don't even know yet... I've traded one email with the sell and left a vmail.. I can't get up there to see it until Saturday because it's crazy at work this week and I can't sneak off... so I'm guessing it will be gone before Saturday anyhow, but We will have to see... I didn't get a "Hell No" from the wife when I mentioned it, so in my book, that's as good as a yes... #2
  18. How hard would it be to hookup an mj to a uhaul tow dolly to tow home behind my tahoe? I've towed the tj on a borrowed fladbed trailer before, so I know it'll tow just fine
  19. no, but why would you want to? Because my 4.0L is about shot... Most of the lifters aren't lifting, I have a solid fairly repatable miss and I burn oil like It's going out of style...I think I'm losing compression and this one has 30% fewer miles than mine.... Sw2
  20. Still curuous if I would have issues with the engine swap from the 87 to my 89?
  21. I'll take a wheel of cheese and hope they are from Wisconsin!
  22. I emailed em and the Tranny is "shot" and I will have to tow or trailer the thing home (*about 60 miles) if I decide to get it. Think it's worth looking at? I have to assume 2WD... am still considering an engine swap into my 89 (Would I have issues going from 87->89, both 4.0L - 5 Spd, I assume this one a BA5/10 and mines an AX15?) 1987 Jeep Comanche Pick Up Truck - $500 (dublin / pleasanton / livermore) For Sale AGAIN - buyer never showed / $500. 4.0 6 cyl. / 5 Speed / New exhaust, starter, alternator, and all hoses / 151K miles / engine runs great / transmission needs to be replaced / registration good through April 2009
  23. No Brainer... if you don't buy it, maybe it's time for a road trip to cheese country for me to pick it up...Maybe pick up a half dozen or so $5 MJ's while I'm out that way... go for it!
  24. :needpics: i don't know if you want to see it. i was over there a few hours ago to check it out and its bad  WTF!!!!
  25. I hope she, or her insurance, is paying for a new one? Hope everyone is OK...
