SuperWade2 replied to GP2001's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Pete, don't know what the difference is, but the drop shackles I got said for a 1988-2006 In fact here is the exact set I got from this seller... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... &viewitem= -
tire choices....need some opinions
SuperWade2 replied to 88pioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My 31x10.5 Mickey Thompson MTZ's are running on wheels with a 5.5" Backspace (OEM Jeep Gambler's). I also have the WJ Lower Control Arms and 2" Coil Spacers... No rubbing anywhere (I do have 1.25" Spacers in the back because I was rubbing on the frame. I don't drive in any snow or ice, not much wet, so I went M/T vs. A/T more for looks than anything else. I run MTZ's on my TJ as well, and it gets more use off road and has done will in all terrain it's been on (Snow/Ice/Sand/Mud/Rocks, etc) Wade -
There was an American Racing rim that looked very similar to the Stock Jeep 5 Hole Gambler Rims as well. I hadn't heard the "Phone dials" name for those rims in the OP's Post... but your right, BOTH are nice rims...like I said NICE score!
-
Looks like a nice score! BTW, NOT Jeep Gamblers... These are Gamblers...

33x12.50 Tires on my MJ?
SuperWade2 replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Gotcha...best bet maybe just to sell the 33's... I don't think a "real" lift for the MJ is on my shortlist of things I'm going to have $$$$ for. Wade -
33x12.50 Tires on my MJ?
SuperWade2 replied to SuperWade2's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Even just rolling around town, huh? Crap, I was hoping to sell one set or the other to pay for at least a part of the new tires... -
For just street driving, any chance I get 33x12.5's on my MJ as it sits now? (Temporarily until I can get a 'real' lift) I'm thinking 35's for my TJ might be my xmas present to myself...I hoped to eventually put my 33's from my TJ on my MJ... The 31's on my MJ are newer and might get better resell on Craigslist than the slightly older 33's... I'm just thinking out loud... Wade

PolyPerformance? 4Link $1120 http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/Pol ... 20915.html 3Link - $1200+ http://www.polyperformance.com/shop/Jee ... 16607.html -
Nice CW.... I know this is supposed to be a "Square Light" thread, but here's the front of my TJ. the plan is to eventually swap this big wide Hanson front bumper for something stubbier, but that probably won't happen till I get my tube fenders. 2 more in the Rear... (Pic was before lift/new tires...)

Finally got my new to me MJ Buckets installed. The Bucket Brackets/Sliders on these seats were in better shape than the other set I had installed and the seats themselves, while dirty when I bought them, were better structurally (frame and foam) than the 2Dr XJ Seats I had. So I cleaned up the covers, sanded and painted a couple small rust spots on the frames and brackets, and here they are. the plastic around the tilt lever on both sides is busted off, but that seems to be pretty common. Not a great design by Jeep I'm sorry to say. the pic is bad, but the driver side actually looks cleaner than the pass in person.

The front bumper ends are all over ebay...Like hundreds of them...Might not be Jeep, but they are being made by somoeone who's knocked them off...

How rare are the 91/92 MJ's?

Might have been me with the Optima Hating... Glad they've worked well for other folks here! The Blue Top in my TJ stopped holding a charge at barely over 3 years...I won't buy another Optima...Only 1 bad experience, but that was enough for me. I replaced it with a DieHard Platinum which is actually made by Odyssey Batteries... 4 year full replacement, 100 month prorated is better than anything Optima was offering. **EDIT ** The 3 years that I had the optima saw maybr 5000 miles put on the Jeep, maybe half dozen days of COLDish (below freezing) days and maybe another half dozen of warm ones (>100 Degrees). Not extreme harsh use by any means... ** EDIT #2 ** The Warranty for my Optima (Blue Top purchased before Feb 2009) is ONLY 18 months free replacement, remaining 18 months prorated... So it poo'ed out not long after I was going to get zip for warranty anyhow...

Yes... this guy I'm pretty sure.... viewtopic.php?f=7&t=19078 BTW< I enjoyed the Issue of Crawl very much... I think it's the 2nd issue after an ownership/editorial change if I heard my story correctly.

Nope 88... I still have the little license thing in a box somewhere http://callsign.73ham.net/KB0DBS
-
I have one of the quick disco's for my 3' Firestik on my TJ... I also have the spring in case I try to drive into the garage and forget to take it off... It's a pain to have to remember it, but I only use the CB when I'm wheeling, so it's off most of the time on my DD.
-
How about an ex-ham I had a Novice License in 1988 (when I was 14), I think it expired in 1998 and I never renewed...Don't tell the FCC, but I had some help with the Morse Code part of my test (not sure if that's still a requirement or not) KB0DBS if I remember correctly...

LOL.... I thought you meant make the whole roll bar out of 2x4's...
-
Since it'll never save your head in a rollover anyways, just use pressure treated 2x4s. :D I'm just buying it for looks anyhow, so I might as well hold out for one that at least "looks" right. A 2x4's rollbar would look like Poo BTW...

He said it was in his MJ at one time...i'm not sure about trying to get a "riser" fabbed up...not something I have the tools or material for. odds are that if it wasnt high enough, then it probably didnt fit to well on the wheel well mount either. I was thinking there was probably other goofy stuff with it too... I'm not in a rush.. a Jeep one will show up in my half of the country at some point...
