Fun job huh.. GOOD JOB!!!  ;) CW

Yes you should be able to hear the pump when you first start the truck.. BUT, if the system is up to pressure you will NOT hear it for more than a short second. Give it another try this AM and if its bad you will not hear it run. Overnight should be plenty sufficient for the system to depressurize enough to hear the pump. Also check the ballast resistor on the DS front fender. Its the white/off white ceramic looking thing with a wire going into each end. Good luck, CW

GREAT THREAD!! Someone started one some time back, but it fizzled. Glad this one has momentum!! Pets are such a HUGE part of our collective lives!!! We have two, Riley and Rocco, here is Riley. A 130Lb Rot-Sheppard mix. Rocco is our "new" dog. he is a Jack Russell mix. He was a rescue, a problem dog that was to be put down. He dosen't (didn't) have good "manors" with other dogs. We figured they don't come much tougher than riley. SO, we gave him a shot. He has made excellent improvements. It only took four "encounters" for him to realize his 15Lb frame cannot impose his opinion on a rock headed 130 Rot!! LOL Now he walks behind Riley and allows him to go out the door first. Its a laugh when Riley barks.. Rocco comes up behind and adds his "voice" but only from behind Riley!!! No more growling when he has food. He is becoming a very nice "lil bugger". Here i both of them with Momma on the couch at our hunting cam last month. CW

MAN, I AM VERY SORRY to hear this man!! Loosing you bud is one of the toughest things in life!! Personally, I have lost two so far, both Black Labs, both named "SPORT" the first one was a child hood pet, who developed heart worm and he lost his mind. (Long ago when such things where not so easily treated.) The second SPORT was bought from a known breeder in 1986. He was with me everyday, all day until 1992 when he died of lymphosarcoma, a cancer in my arms. BAD DAY to say the least. Our current dog, RILEY is a 130# Rot and he is just eleven. Not allot more for him I fear. Not looking forward too that day. Chin up, I'm sure you gave him a good run. CW

Like most people, I have bought many grills. Then almost TWELVE YEARS AGO, I bought my first WEBER gas grill. Know what, I am still using it!!!!! It wasn't until just this year I had to replace the stainless steel burner! Now, I really griped at the 4or $500 I spent on the grill back then... BUT in the time since, I REJOYCE about the cash I have saved!!! My grill stays outside all year as we use it even in sub zero conditions. It does get covered in the winter. I clean it good, once, at the end of the season. About 5 years ago my Pop needed a new grill. He asked for my suggestion. WEBER was it. He and Mom decided it was too costly??? Then spent just as much on a large "Fancy" Stainless steel master flame. This year that grill was SHOT!! the lid hinges rusted thru it was on its second burner and the frame needed to be "reinforced" to stay standing. The need a new grill for next year. My WEBER is still going and will go for many more years. The ONLY GRILL I EVER SUGGEST IS WEBER!!!! CW

There you go again Eagle.. beating around the bush....   You really should just say what you mean. :rotf: :brows:  :shake: :agree: :agree: The front stuff will work but is sorely incomplete AND quite tall. The rear springs are useless on a MJ. On XJ/MJ Anything over 4" REALLY causes a big jump in total costs. Steering system needs total replacement at this height. Now out back, a spring over with your springs will net you about 5-6" depending on the perches you choose. But you still need rear shocks and brake lines all around, control arms out front. (@ 5+ inches long arms are all but required) Drop brackets at a minimum, just adding control arms weather adj or not will not be enough at this height. You need a track bar, and springs too if you done get the Rusty's junk in the add. :D Then an alignment after its all done. CW

NICE!!! Some nice choices on your parts!! I'll be watching to see how she comes together!!! CW

I wouldn't go so far as to say never.. but not around here any time soon... Enough off topic talk. I got a bunch done today!! First and formost, my axle was fine, my tounge isnt ridged as its a tilt so "seeing" it to one side or the other is normal!! I figured this out after AGAIN cutting one of the front spring hangers off!!  Any how, after much measuring we rewelded averything and finished grinding the last of the plug welds behind the wheels. To do so, we installed regular trailer tires... I painted and sealed the deck. Then installed it for the final time! I never liked a single bolt holding the safety chains. I also don't like wending the chains to the tounge. It just never sat well with me. You need something mechanical, as well as a good weld. I made up 8" tabs of 1.25X.250 steel. Attached the chain with a shackle and 5/16 chain and a removable link at each end. Lastly was lites. I tried them a number of places and like them here.. They are lo, but well protected by the shackles and springs. We loaded it up with almost 800lbs and the shackles sit at just past 90degrees. SO with a 2000lb cap axle and half shackle suspention, we should be well in ball park!!! CW

Thanks man!! I know Its enough for one in width, probably not length thou.....  My father mentioned the same thing...after the build began. :???: :( I got away from bikes and more heavily into Jeeps some years back after a very close call. Things are just too congested here to safely ride IMHO. I was in the process of buying a trailer for the bikes so we could trailer north, park and cruse where its safer to ride. My "accident" took place right down the road from my home. Some guy said he never saw me, yet we had total eye contact for almost 100 yards, when he pulled in front of me. NEVER BREAKING eye contact. I composed myself, went home, cleaned up the bike and installed the last mod.. a FOR SALE SIGN! She was gone a week later. CW

I am OFF CALL!!! SO tonight is rest and relaxation!! Tomorrow, back on the build!!! I did weld up all the top holes and ground them down flush. Then shot the whole thing with primer. Pop came out to lend a hand and found a problem.... Seems my axle is slightly out of square. Likely because of all the spring mount nonsense I went thru moving them to and fro... AND as I centered the tongue to the axle, befroe welding it in. It is out too!!! Now I have to cut and fix the tongue AND the drivers side front spring mount and the toung bracket.    This all became painfully obvious once the frame was all one color. Here you can see the tongue is out of square by about 3/4". SO, first job in the AM is to cut the offending parts out and reattach in correct position... CW

I have it in the TJ with the 4:1. Its nice but not really necessarry. In effect I also haveit in the MJ. As I have a posi-loc in the front so I can get 2WD LO anytime I want... I DO use it in the MJ quite a bit. Its very nice for launching the boat!!! CW

Sometime SOON my friend, sometime very soon!! ;) :brows: ;) Tonight again too many calls to get allot done, but I did shoot the bottom and part of the sides with a coat of primer. It shows mistakes as well as a good base for the paint. BTW, this little thing is the F'IN BOMB!!! CW

I didn't have allot of time today as I had a bunch of calls... I did get a chance to button up my gate latch!! I need to redo one of the welds as its crappy, but its in and it works nicely!! CW

My Buddie JUAN can likely do this!! He is on here regularly, usually just reading not so much posting. I'll be sure he sees this thread.. CW

I had today off as I have to work the weekend.. SO, I dove into the trailer early. The progress is small to see, as its making and welding in brackets and still grinding down welded form all the holes I had to weld up. I got the 2" receiver welded in. I picked up some deck mounted tie downs. I was able to integrate them into the corner bolts. So they are actually bolted to the frame for excellent strength. I picked up some spring loaded retractable pins that I will add to the gate so its got a positive latch. It will also stand on its gate!!

Same here!! Worked just fine on mine... CW -
FYI.. This coming SUNDAY is the GAJR in Somers CT... http://jeeprally.org/ CW

I ground even more welds today. Then I made up the brackets that will hold the flooring and diamond plate sides. I mounted the flooring brackets and the corners. I still have 12 to weld on and then drill 30 holes.... Thursday I'll get the diamond plate and start finishing the frame. I have a gallon of Herculiner....... CW

Grinding Sound when turning full left.
CWLONGSHOT replied to Tri_X_Troll's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Check your steering linkages. Specifically your TRE's. I'll bet the pass side is making contact. It could be beginning to wear and getting some slop in it. CW -
IMHO, You will be just fine, the D44 is used in many many applications with more torque than your new stroker will produce. BUT, as stated anything can be busted!!! Some time back I helped my nephew build up a F250. We installed a D60/D61 combo with 4:56 gears and 38" tires, but left it open as he didn't have the funds for lockers. ONE WEEK LATER, he PULVERISED the spider gears... I didn't think that was possible... but he did it!!! CW

Nothing much today.. (to many calls) Being on call SUX!!! I did get to pickup and cut the 1/2" pressure treated decking. I still need to grind more welds so it sits nice and flat. I also picked up some 2" alum angle. I figure to put it along the sides on top of the decking and up against the diamond plate sides. CW

I got some shocks from the rear of a YJ and pressed out the lower sleeve and mounted them up!! Then I finished up the last of the bracing for the rear. I still need to finish welding and go back and double check everything. Then mount up my rear 2" receiver. CW

  Thank you!!  I ground some more welds today and altered my ball mount... CW
