Serpentine belt nottracking
CWLONGSHOT replied to AmJay's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
GOOD GUESS!! It happens!! Try it on backwards (180 degrees) and see if it tracks oppositely. The belt could also be faulty... CW -
Pete, I cannot do it here and now, but if no one here can help, PM me the message and I'll have one of our house keepers at the hospital decipher for you the following day at work. I'll have it that next day. CW

t-case shifter rod question
CWLONGSHOT replied to one_bad_MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
OK I know what you mean, that's too adjust the linkage... Don't assume its broken, its quite likely just out of adjustment... Its easier to adjust than fix the ball socket doodad. Get it checked out and properly adjusted and I'll bet it works again.. That light only tells me its not in 4X4 as you may think it is... CW -
EXACTLY!!! A 2" longer lift shackles for a MJ would measure close to 10" eye to eye!!!       IMHO 7.5-8" is about max and even that can cause problems... CW

t-case shifter rod question
CWLONGSHOT replied to one_bad_MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That's a ball and socket type connection and its a freakin' bugger to get back together while on your back!!! Put it on the bench and its only difficult... I spent a couple hours and beers as well as walking away from it twice before getting mine back together after my shifter mods last fall..... How did you hurt your Tcase? CW -
Does anybody have one of
CWLONGSHOT replied to xflowdaboi352's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I made my own steering neck brace!! A 2" plumbing clamp with a couple bolts, some 1" poop pipe. Then a 4-5" scrap of 1.5" angle steel and stick it all together! Woks well! My winch mount is a DETOURS with long sides for strength and frame horn reinforcement!! CW -
I bought a set of EBay cheapies a couple years ago. The stock bulbs SUK!! But a quality replacement set along with a wiring upgrade and they work VERY well. the lighting pattern is very different and the lo-beam is much more of a flood of light than a beam that we are used to. But with the better bulbs and the full 12-13V getting to them they produce great light with a distinct break from oncoming drivers. No wasted light up high and with HI-beams a good beam reaching out pretty far. I also hooked up the blue city lights and thought they looked good, but have since burned out. I would like to try the IPF phatboys, but at near 100$ its a bit much for a couple bulbs... I don't remember whats in there now. Here is a couple pics of them when first installed: Here is what I bought: Overall I like them. I have had Silver stars and they are great too so are Hella bulbs. The biggest upgrade to my lighting was the wiring loom upgrade by far!! CW

Roll Bar Pictures and Descriptions
CWLONGSHOT replied to runner6's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It looks good I like the design alot. Would like it more in a larger dia hoop. Larger diameter just has more "wow". I know its a bunch harder to work with the big dia tube... Good job!! CW -
I added a second horn as one of the very first things I did to the truck!!! Some time later I added the same WOLO air horns as you! I think they sound OK, All I need them to do is be loud and the more obnoxious the better. I'm not really a horn blower, but when I use it I wanna be herd! Pop bought us each Ooga horns for XMas... so I have that too!! Separate buttons though... CW

The simple answer is MINIMUM winch cap is gauged by 1.5X the MAX vehicle GVWR its to be mounted on.... 8K works well for a MJ. Personally I have a 8K on the MJ and a 9.50K on the TJ. CW

At a time when our president and other politicians tend to apologize for our country's prior actions, here's a refresher on how some of our former patriots handled negative comments about our country. These are good JFK'S Secretary of State, Dean Rusk, was in France in the early 60's when De Gaulle decided to pull out of NATO.. De Gaulle said he wanted all US military out of France as soon as possible.. Rusk responded, "Does that include those who are buried here?" De Gaulle did not respond. You could have heard a pin drop. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ When in England at a fairly large conference, Colin Powell was asked by the Archbishop of Canterbury if our plans for Iraq were just an example of 'empire building' by George Bush. He answered by saying, "Over the years, the United States has sent many of its fine young men and women into great peril to fight for freedom beyond our borders. The only amount of land we have ever asked for in return is enough to bury those that did not return." You could have heard a pin drop. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ There was a conference in France where a number of international engineers were taking part, including French and American. During a break, one of the French engineers came back into the room saying, "Have you heard the latest dumb stunt Bush has done? He has sent an aircraft carrier to Indonesia to help the tsunami victims. What does he intend to do, bomb them?" A Boeing engineer stood up and replied quietly: "Our carriers have three hospitals on board that can treat several hundred people; they are nuclear powered and can supply emergency electrical power to shore facilities; they have three cafeterias with the capacity to feed 3,000 people three meals a day, they can produce several thousand gallons of fresh water from sea water each day, and they carry half a dozen helicopters for use in transporting victims and injured to and from their flight deck. We have eleven such ships; how many does France have?" You could have heard a pin drop. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a naval conference that included Admirals from the U.S. , English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a large group of officers that included personnel from most of those countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked, "Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?" Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied, "Maybe it's because the Brit's, Canadians, Aussie's and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German." You could have heard a pin drop. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~ AND THIS STORY FITS RIGHT IN WITH THE ABOVE... Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on. "You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically. Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously. "Then you should know enough to have your passport ready." The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it.." "Impossible. Americans always have to show their passports on arrival in France !" The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ''Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn't find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to." You could have heard a pin drop. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~ I am proud to be of this land, AMERICA

Like any paint job, what makes it good and makes it last is the prep.Secondly its the paint, good paint properly applied followed with clear coat and allowing it sufficient drying time. Don't rush, take your time and do it rite and you will have a good looking wheel that will last you more then a season. I have done a couple sets. Recently I have been using Duplicolor wheel primer, paint and there same labeled clear coat. I first media blasted the wheel, then primered it. Followed by the first of 3-4 light coats of color. (Out of rattle cans) Following the instructions for drying times between coats. Lastly the clear coat, I gave that a couple coats as well. I chose Graphite for a color and it came out great. Here is a shot of a 10 spoke set I did... I cannot find the pics of the set of XJ "LACE" wheels I also did... CW

I also got a call from a friend asking the size of the pitman arm nut... I didn't know for certain, so I ran out and threw a couple wrenches on it... guess what? Mine was WAY LOOSE!!!!!! It took almost two full turns to sock it down!!! It's one and five sixteenths by the way... :shake: Today the TJ gets washed and vacuumed out. Maybe a little detailing with the rustoleum too... CW

CWLONGSHOT replied to STERLING STINGER's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
About 70 amps... But as I have said, think of your wire like a water pipe, the bigger it is the easier the flow... Here is a good guide for ya: http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm CW -
Might just try this one myself........ I went down this morning to sign up my Dog for welfare. At first the lady said, Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare. So I explained to her that my Dog is unemployed, lazy, can't speak English and has no frigging clue who his Daddy is. So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify. My Dog gets his first check Friday. Damn this is a great country.

Nice Idea!! I really like the LED's!! I've been contemplating a way to add LED's as you have. While retaining the body lines. I like your idea! How thick is the steel and how did you make the radius? CW
