yeah pete, the formatting and/or layout changed on my screen, and I hate it, but i assumed it had to do with just having the basic membership and not a paying one.

Supposed to preserve the inside of the tire, by eliminating the reactive O2, among other benefits. more consistent pressure, less dryrot etc., but i've read the nitrogen costs next to nothing and it's a huge moneymaker for those that charge for it. some places don't charge for it if you buy tires from them, even if you need to refill later on etc. i think the same critic said they understood charging something for the service, but that it shouldn't be more than $2-3/tire and anything much more than that he felt the cost far outweighed the benefits

just had some new to me wheels and tires mounted and balanced at a local tire store for $40. usually the more expensive prices are when they are mounting low profile tires on rims 17" and larger because of the extra time it takes to get the short @$$ sidewall to flex enough to get on the rim and because of the higher risk of rim damage on such wheels. i run 235/45/17s on my car and most places quoted me $20+ to mount and balance. one place had scaled pricing, the bigger the rim, the more $$. i think 22s were like $40+ PER wheel.

:rotfl2: Well said, although I don't mind BLL as a cheap imitation of a super cold Corona witha REAL lime. But, love a good Guiness as well. Do a search for a good thread in The Pub about everyone's beer tastes. And as a former booze slinger, we'd be interested in your post. PM Pete about site design ideas, I was basically kidding but it might be cool to have your expertise (not busting on ya Pete, just saying he does that kind of stuff every day, know what I mean?).

i think i'll go with sub-lime.

Let's cut to the chase...........can you make our home page look mack-daddy? If so, I know a few guys on here that can explain thingamajigs and doohickeys like nobody else and we'll lend you a hand. So, welcome, and since our founder, Pete, did not offer the un-O-fficial welcome, and Taz, one of our resident Jeep parts (and Bud Light Lime) specialists did not either.......I guess I'll do it. Beer's in the fridge  , take a seat, but not on the tan couch. That's Chico's seat. :brows: (BTW, anybody heard from Chico lately? Dude went MIA)

Cat converters and e-brakes
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
:wall: Begin rant. Helloooooo, people! READ my post and ANSWER the question, i.e. don't give me a link to eBay, as I mentioned at the top, I've already looked there and at auTo parts dealers online, WHICH PROMPTED MY "QUESTION", what is the difference between lower and higher priced Cats? Sorry for the outburst, but I just want to read a response that gives me some details. I can guess on my own logic what is the likely answer, i.e. that the cheap ones probably will fail sooner, come apart at the weld seams sooner, clog sooner, don't breathe as well etc. and the expensive ones are the opposite of that, but I'd like to get an educated answer so I don't ASSume anything. End rant. :chillin: -
$2.25 today. they're still playing there 1-2 cents per day crap here. well, let's see how long it hangs around $2. OPEC is saying they're getting ready to cut back production and all up the line profits are down dramatically so while it is good for the end user, the public, in light of all the rest of the economic turmoil and cost of living increases, it will likely go back up at least a little before too long IMO. if it could level off at $2 +/- 10-20 cents, i think that would be acceptable. another real positive on the current price drops though, one place here has diesel under $3.

Add to the list of "Now I've seen it all..."
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in The Pub
Exactly. Rare enought to find a CJ10, and being a diesel is part of what made it cool/collectable IMO. I hope he likes what he's got because I think that will be a hard sell. Expanding on the idea, if he just added the fake tow rig setup (useless but kinda cool), kept the olive drab paint, the diesel, the olive or black wheels with thick hwy rib tires it would have been pretty cool. -

 I'm with you Zipey, that's how I did it. Of course, that's because I had no clue about the other methods, but now that I do........................I think I'll stick with the same plan. :D -
A little more than a day left to go, $4500 and under reserve price (wonder what that will end up being), but a super nice looking Willys Truck just north of Pittsburgh http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Tru ... 06.c0.m245
-
Exactly what I'm used to also. I guess it does make it more challenging for a competitive lineup or at least decent reserves.

this might actually be cool if he had just put regular wheels and all season tires on it and not the bling setup? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Tru ... 06.c0.m245

Cat converters and e-brakes
WahooSteeler replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks, I think Taz ran my VIN before to see if there were any open or active recalls and they were all done. Might be worth double-checking. Again, mine is not bad right now, just being curiously proactive to know what the cost would be when that time comes. So, at this point, no real answer to my question. -
A member was complaining of lack of power and just as I was thinking several people suggested that his catalytic converter may be clogged and/or shot. Now, I knew this is a common sympton for power loss, but what I did not know was how wide a range of pricing there seems to be on replacements, because I personally have never had to replace one on any vehicle I own. I don't think the one on my truck is the original at 213k, but might very likely need replacing soon. So, looking online at Advanced auto parts they range anywhere from @$85-250?? On ebay, which I am hesitant to what you are getting on auto parts, they range from $53-$150. Other than some custom models with 2 into 1's etc., what are the differences in all these models? Second tech question, my inspection is up this Friday and I have yet to replace my broken e-brake cable on the right rear. I am planning to replace the whole rear of the e-cable. How involved is this?
