    yay DD!

not bad for a $200 honda. runs, drives, just looks a little rough. I go the brakes fixed today, even painted some of the rust. and I used some leftover rustoleum on the wheels, cause black steel wheels are totaly rad.

    Wrangler finally

Xj's are dirt cheap in my area, but most have significant body rot. Just passed on a 90, 4.0 AW4/231 that was in good shape. Guy wanted $800. I bought a $200 honda for a DD instead. can't knock 35 MPG when gas is $3.
  3. it's a chapter members wife driving it. Katy is her name, that's supposedly a level 5 trail.
  4. I think that you're thinking something like this? that's a friend min baja bui;d, but look at what they did with the truss at the upper link mounts. You could very easily do that with the stamped sheetmetal UCA mount on the D30. So run the truss from the pumkin to the UCA mount, then another truss from the UCA mount to the knuckle. Box in the UCA mount and it becaomes part of the truss. is that what you were thinking?

I shall do rediculous burnouts with 235's and 3.73s with an 8.8. no more fearing the D35 bomb in the rearend!
  6. that's the one!
  7. mounted on the firewall beneath the coolant bottle? sounds like the 4wd vacuum switch that turns on the dash light.
  8. Do you remember which issue? Cause I have a bunch, lol it was last fall, a red MJ, they also did a paint article on it. I don['t have a subscription, I picked it up because they had an MJ on the cover, and it's probably been pitched, so I can't tell ya.

scored new road tires for the jeep. offbrand at's, less than 500 miles on them, $100. of course, 235's and 3.73's ought to be fun on the highway  but, can't pass up that daeal, and I need new road tires desperately. two of my current road tires are not safe to drive in the rain, if ya know what I mean.
  10. According to the TNT web site they do have a MJ package you just need to call them and provide some info on drivetrain. Also Rock krawler may offer a kit,any kit you buy will need you to do a rear axel spring over conversion so you just need to be sure there system for the front is MJ tested Call around and ask a few companies, as some will have updated equipment that is not listed I've called rock crawler, if you tell them you have an MJ they'll part the full XJ kit and sell just the front.
  11. rocky sniffs the vents, doesn't matter what's oming out of them, just wants to smell.
  12. long arm kits are problematic on MJ's because some of the bracketry interferes with the extra bracing on the uni frame. JP did a long armed MJ with the TNT kit I think. They described what needed to happen. Might want to do a search for that, or get the back issue.

    new puppy

that's the hope. Otherwise I'm gonna have two crazy doxies running around. Rocky is still a puppy though, so I forgive some of his energy to that. he is making dramatic strides in his behavior as of late though. I changed the approach I was taking and it's paying off. He walks nicely on a leash now, by my side. Sometimes it's not the dogs fault, but rather the owners, ya know?

    Child safety?

I think you're good. Look at where her head is in relation to the back of the seat, that's about where an adults head would be. Probably done that way so airbags and such would ddeploy properly. As long as it's secured well it shouldn't go anywhere.
  16. map sensor tells the computer how much air the motor is ingesting, so it's crucial to A/F ratio. sure you got the map plugged into the right hole? IIRC there's two ports, one is blocked off, the other is the actual vac port.

so. I'm sure some of you have seen pictures of rocky: meet bullwinkle.
  18. I completely agree with Pete. Your stumbling just may be spark plugs gapped wrong. and it's not lifting the truck that kills the motor, it's what happens after you lift it, like running it on it's side, or upside down, or under water ;)
  19. oh come on pete, you can't dukes of hazzard out the window?
  20. whitch switch did you replace? the clumn, the headlamp switch or the high/low beam module under the dash?
  21. call moser, I know they make a dual pattern 5x4.5/5.5 8.8 axle. You might want to see if they can make a 6 lug. Then you get alloys in the 8.8 and solve your wheel pattern dilemma.
  22. the only part of the wrangler shaft you need is the passenger side stub and outer axleshaft. You can rob the drivers side with a 297 joint from anything that has a D30 in it.
  23. if using this method, tape the injectors to a plastic ruler or something. Keeps them all aligned so you can adjust them all with one hand.
  24. I'm in ashland, I know right where alliance is.
  25. last time I looked at 4.0 remans the going rate seems about 800-1K bucks for a longblock. This of course included no oil pan/valve cover or accesories. I second the "are you sure it's the motor" question. Mines got 260, starts up everytime and makes good oil pressure.
