i am sure it would collapse them, they aren't that thick. i don't have a clue either. that would make sense, well i will think of something
-
ahh i see. would i be able to just put the motor in the bed without problems arisen? mostly likely it would be. well i'll see what comes up. i'll probably take a trip up to spokane to get all the stuff. i can't do that until mid-jan.

well we don't have pull it yourself type of place here in the tri-cities, so they would pull the engine for me. i don't know about the wiring harness though, i know they will let you check out a specific vehicle if you ask, but they won't let you pull anything yourself. i will have to stop in there or call to see what can be done. i think the closest pull it yourself type of place is in spokane, that's about a three hour drive i believe. not to bad. i don't have a trailer to pull the front of the vehicle with if i can get the front half chopped off, can't think of any friends who have a trailer small enough for the manche to pull. do you think it would be fine to just have them put it in the back of the truck?

ahhh. well i basically had it set in mind that i wasn't going with a carb. i don't have the room for another vehicle, there's already six, plus another and a body in the garage so i planned on just getting the engine out of a firebird, computer and wiring harness themselves. found these guys and they have the engine for sale on their website, would make things a bit easier, but haven't decided on whether i want to go this way or pick one up at the junk yard: http://www.rebuilt-chevy-engines.com/lo ... engine.cfm what are the other related sensors for the engine? alright, that would be nice. i guess you could get them to me whenever, now or later.

the 3.4 will be as direct of a bolt-in as you can get. bolt the 2.8 motor mounts, oil pan, and exhaust manifolds onto it, and it will bolt in. try and find a 3.4 that matches your trans (i.e. auto if you've got an auto trans, or manual if you have manual), otherwise you CAN put your 2.8 flexplate/flywheel on the 3.4 but it will need to be neutrally balanced by a professional shop (not too much $$$...like $60) you will want the entire engine wiring harness and computer from the camaro (computer is under the hood), must be a 90-93/94 camaro or firebird with a 3.4. I'll give you all the diagrams to alter the harness as needed (zero soldering will be needed). you will also need to get a VATS antitheft bypass...it's a little computer box that puts out the ignition signal to the computer (pin 55 in the computer), which grounds the injectors. $30 or so shipped from http://mysite.verizon.net/vze7erz1/id1.html the only other thing you will need is an inline fuel pump (or a 4.0 in-tank fuel pump with pressure regulator) that puts out the proper psi for the 3.4. that's a full list of the mods, and while it may seem like alot...it really isn't. the mechanical bolt-in part makes it real easy. you could do it in 2 or 3 weekends by yourself, 1 or 2 if you have the motor ready to go beforehand, or 1 or 2 with 2 guys. http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/detai ... TC453.html would this be considered the engine wiring harness? it says body, but i am not sure.

to swap the d35 for either of those what would need to do? would they be compatible with a 3.4L auto and a 86 MJ? just curious, i have seen many of you guys talking about the d44 and/or the ford 8.8 and it seems like those are pretty good rear axles.

love your brothers or hate your brother, not everyone thinks before they act. this one seemed to be out of complete rage about the whole thing. i don't agree with the way he did it, i wouldn't say i disagree or agree with tossing their flag on the ground, but they have come into our country and are turning their projects into mini mexicos, they preach their b/s about equality when they are jumping the damn borders and expecting us to pay for their welfare and social security when a lot of them aren't even citizens of the US, and the majority of crime today is caused by them. don't get me wrong, i have some mexican friends and they are pretty cool, but this is America, not Mexico.

what kind of work do you have to do to install either of the two, i assume there will be welding that will have to be done? -
the noise only happens when i engage it just about any time. it doesn't happen all the time though, it'll go in smooth, but "every" time i disengage it, it makes that sound. i am pretty sure it's coming from the front somewhere. you can feel it in the handle when shifting out of 4wd and sometimes into 4wd. coming from 4L to neutral there is not sound. but from neutral to 2wd is when it really makes the sound. my bad, i meant to say vacuum system, not hydraulic, i was reading something about a hydraulic system for something completely different and must have put that instead. i am not thinking about switching the mechanical parts off, just whether it uses the vacuum system or an electronic system. i don't know if it's possible to keep everything as is, except for switch vacuum with electronic. i would think an electronic system would be far more reliable seeing as how if you get a clog in the vacuum tubes the 4wd won't work or the tubes get punctured especially if you are out off roadin'. it'd be hell replacing 'em. replacing wires is just a matter of looking in the right place at home or the tool box in your truck or finding where the short is, taping the wire back together or putting it back in place if it slips out.

when i engage my truck into 4wd it makes this loud noise, not really sure what it is. sometimes it'll say it's in 4wd, but it won't move. sometimes it goes right in without any problems and works good. another problem is when you take it out of 4wd it makes that loud sound, almost sounds like grinding but i don't think it is. i think there might be something in the tubes clogging it, but i am not really sure. i was thinking about switch my 4wd to an electronic operated system rather than the hydraulic system it has. what do you guys think?

would there be any harm running 33's with a d30 and d35? -
well if you guys had read up above i said i was thinking about a 6.5".
-
what all exactly do you need when you do a lift, front and rear? besides the kit, do you need new shocks and leaves, stuff like that?
-
it would depend on when it was. i won't have a 2.8 much longer so i would definitely be down.
-
it's a good idea. but like a few guys have said there aren't enough of us who have comanches or the money to travel cross country to meet up. but it's good idea to maybe make a plan to do one of these days.
-
i'll check it out. thanks.

Image Not Found this is what i have so far. i will get some more and better pictures later. everything is stock right now seeing as how i am pretty limited on cash at the moment. i don't have a shop and the garage is full is junk, the weather is getting too cold and wet so i will begin working on it after new years.
