I was about to post a reply to Hornbord about him getting the Afro-engineering award for his "Fixes" when I saw his spare tire crank. As I was typing the reply I thought to myself,, "Is afro-engineering the "right" way to describe his inventions?" Upon further investigation, I have found that a better way to describe the AEF's (Afro-engineering fixes) as Makeshift MacGyver'n With that term, I said to myself, is Makeshift MacGyver'n conforming to a belief that language and practices which could offend political sensibilities (as in matters of sex or race) should be eliminated? (Merriam-Webster) I mean would Richard Dean Anderson be offended if I used his famous alter-ego? Would the writers of "MacGyver" have a problem with one of their creations being used to describe AEF's? I then resorted to searching PC term's and found a few amusing phrases; An Immigrant - a newcomer Fat - person of substance Ghetto / Barrio - Ethnically Homogeneous Area Stoned - Chemically inconvenienced. Wife - unpaid sex slave She does not have a hard body, she is anatomically inflexible. She does not have a killer body, she is terminally attractive. (pcphrases.com) So the question is, who really tries to say the right thing so not to offend?

Top End, CCV, and Valve Cover Questions..
jtdesigns replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hey when one of you guys take your towers off the VC could you tell me which end has the baffle valve that has the bend in it?? One of those valves had a offset bend in it. I can't remember which end of the VC it was. -
Did you get to talk to those ppl today?

I rarely get an opportunity to brag when it comes to vehicles but here's a chance. Jay owns my last Ducati. Come to think of it, that kind of makes me a moron for selling something so cool that Jay Leno would want to own it. Did you meet him??

Top End, CCV, and Valve Cover Questions..
jtdesigns replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
yeah on the bottom side of the VC you'll see two towers (under each CCV hole) that holds a thin metal valve (baffle??) under it was a gasket, that just crumbled when the towers were removed. I read somewhere to just cut a paper gasket, but RTV isnt going to hurt anything is it?? -
That crazy fool has a few bikes.. I know he also has a Jet turbine bike. "I have a sign the back that says- 'Keep back 100 ft' Some guy got to close and it melted his front bumper!" J Leno 500 hp ... Yeah I bet that thing is scary!!!

Top End, CCV, and Valve Cover Questions..
jtdesigns replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have cleaned the VC,, It was the top of the head thats covered in crud too. Like the valleys and rockers and ect,, Thats where the issue of some crap falling into the engine came up,, I would just pull the head, but I really don't want to remove the intake and exhaust... So nobody said if I could use RTV on the CCV towers...?? -
<<>> Look out Orange County........This Bike/Quad/Thing is pretty cool!!

front bumper caps/fender problems
jtdesigns replied to Boilermaker's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
A quick way to find out if you frame needs to be pulled is to take a tape measure and get a dimension going across from the drivers cowl side corner to the passengers radiator side vs/vrs making crossing like a X. Make sure you find a point that thats the same on both sides,(like a bolt head or something) both measurements should be the same, if not then something has shifted.. if its just the bumper pushed in then you'll be able to tell it from looking up from underneath. -

Uh, might that be inch/lbs? :brows: I know I removed most of the bolts with just a extension and socket, and it wasn't leaking.. The bolts weren't tight at all. what about the crud on the top end? I really don't want to have to live with it.. that would drive me crazy knowing what it looked like under the vc  -
OK, so I took the vc off today to clean my baffles and it was pretty crusty.. I took the 6 - 1/4" screws off the towers and when I separated them from the vc and the gaskets were done for. Q #1- Can I just use some rtv in the small gaskets place??? I also couldn't help but to notice the top end of the head,(v-springs,push rods, rockers, rocker bridges, top of head) was bad crusty with some brittle carbon buildup.. Q #2- Is there any way to clean it safely without removing the head?? Q #3- Are the valves adjustable?? If so whats the high/low specs on them..?? Q #4- Can someone give me the torque specs on the cover and tightening sequence??? Thanks for everyones advice, suggestions, and answers!!!
