  1. Well the wife and I are off to our free trip to Montana to the Marlbore ranch  I know... I didnt think ppl auctually won trips there myself to we did. :brows: I will post pics up when we get back and tell you all all about it.
  2. I get way more info off of Pirate then I have ever gotten off of naxja  Also the club I belong to belongs to UFWDA, and our small club pays almost a grand and we only have 50 member.. that is just to put the 9k that naxja gives in perspective
  3. I respect anyone who wheels their rig. I don't care if its a 300 dollar XJ, or a 50 grand hummer. I just thinks it is ironic that he is comparing a 50 grand rig to at most a 20 grand rig, and remember wheel base is king :brows:
  4. I am running the 8.8 and it is a tough axle :brows: I strongly recommend buying an aftermarket diff guard or cover. The lower lip is real easy to peel back, and once it starts to leak there is no stopping it. Also you will have to trim the studs down if you decide to run 1.5" spacers, or at least I did :D
  5. Dude... Everyone you that was on that ride is now on the Arbor society's short list of tree abuser's  BTW where those trails you were on even trails?

    I am back....

Sorry for you loss. Come on out and check out what I got brewing in my "Lil Shop Of Horrors", Pong is getting ready to change again
  7. I drove a MIlitary hummer when I was in Panama, and when used right it was a great rig. MIne had the diesel and was a true dog, but man could it play in the mud and sand :D As for Jeeps being better :dunno: I have broken just about every part on my rig at least once  :wrench: Saying one vehicle sucks over another is just childish :fool: :nanner:
  8. I haven't posted on there in almost a yr  It is just like Pirate, except only for cherokees
  9. Sounds like a succesful run to me  I think everyone has had the cooling issues :brows: and trailer issues just happen from time to time. Can't wait to see pics nad videos.
  10. I wne tover that one just to see if I could... I iwish I could find the pics of that one after I tubed the rear... It was awesome. I learned someting  You can run you engine on its side when it is leaning towards the driver, but when you do it towards the passenger it loses oil pressure :hmm: I was just combating your statement that anywhere in VA can be done in a stock Rubi with 31's
  11. That link almost needs to be a sticky :brows: If you read it, he relocated the lca mount hole 1.5" back
  12. So are you ready to follow me in yourt LJ rubi :nanner:
  13. I know ppl are going to bag on my suspension set-up, but I use the Terra flex Long arm upgrade kit. It uses poly bushings at both ends  BUt it is also a parrallel 4 link, and works well for what it is. It is all about what you want to spend. a Johnny joint, or similar style at one end and a poly bushing at the other is perfectly acceptable, as long as you link alignment is good. Don't forget that you still want your link ends in phase with each other, so you don't use up valuable flex even before you get on the trail
  14. I am an hour South of Richmond VA. The bumper was built using the stock bumper mounts, just slightly moddified :teehee: Between the frame mounts is a piece of 4x4x3/16 angle for added stiffness. then it is all welded to 2x4x1/4 "C" channel. Down the sides there was 2x4x1/4 tubing, but Jeff decided he didn't want to cut his rig up that much to mount it like that, so he had me cut that part off when he came to pick it up. It was designed to sit flush with the tailgate.
  15. Custom 36" SS line 45 bucks new
  16. Cole, I wasn't talking down to you. The way you were talking was as if you never did any fab work before. I appologise if I offended you. You can buy RE adjustables for around 125 a set. That being said. RE super flex joints are around 30 bucks a piece. Quality hiems are around 20. Problem with hiems is like you said nosiy loud, and they transmit vibes just like the Re jointys can as well. Have you thought abouth using leaf sping bushings at the axle end? They are cheaper, and while they will not last forever, they will last you long enough for what you want.
  17. Have you looked into the tranny jack pads that you can buy for a floor jack? YOu can also ratchet strap your axle to the frame and use a hi-lift jack to jack up both sides if you don't have crazy flex like me
  18. IT had rock rails down the side when I first built it for my rig :D and they stood up to some really hard hits :driving: and it is flush with the rear of the rig. The only thing I wish I would have done differently is the way I mounted the reciever. But...its not mine anymore ;)
  19. It all depends if you are going to make it adjustable, or not. It also depends on what your budget is. There are some pretty expenive ends out there. RE makes some nice builder joints that might be right up your alley. They also sell all kinds of other good stuff. I have to ask you why you are using 2x2 for your uppers, you can get away with DOM probrably for about the same amount of money being it isn't going to be but so long. Also just cause you bought a welder doent mean I would start fabbing suspension parts, or cages quite yet :brows:
  20. I have swapped front and back axles, cut my rig in half, and Yeah it flexes  The thing to do is support the front bunper using a hilift, or a taller jack stand. By the way 12 ton stands are the tallest you can buy, unless you go to big rig junk.
  21. Derek, thats a single ended ram? Where did you get it? and whatrs the part number?
  22. And you live where? I don't live in Cali or Moab or what ever. Actually, he lives in VA. :teehee: Where in Virginia is it necessary to have a tire larger than 31" to go wheeling?? Stock Rubicon can drive anyplace in Virginia with lockers and 31" tire.s lets play follow the leader then :driving: This video is before we installed a rear lincoln locker http://www.zippyvideos.com/597962500224 ... body_shop/ This is after http://www.zippyvideos.com/798168346272 ... _2nd_time/ Still think a stock rubi can go anywhere
  23. Derek, Buy some cable cuffs, or cable ties. They sell them at lowes and Home depots. They are cheap and do a good job of securing all that extra strap length. BTW your rig looks bad A$$
  24. I only lost power for a few hours :nanner: BUt all that rain has played hell with the crap at work and I have worked 44 hrs in 3 days
  25. Ever hear the saying " play with fire and you will get burned"
