Refilling the closed system.

That is strange? I talked to the guy at Mac's and I got the impression that it would only make it to the second tank if the the radiator cap popped? And to suck fluid out of the second tank??? I will have to give him another call - maybe I just heard what I wanted to? - Rich -
I have one complete passenger MJ bucket. And just the top cover off the drivers seat. I don't know how much shipping would be on one complete seat though? Just a thought and an option for you - Rich

Not good man. I have the same set-up coming this week. PIKE could be {and probably is} right - air in the system  . Don't lose hope - Rich

Chico, Not encouraging news for me  . I have the same radiator showing up tomorrow and Mac's bottle some time next week. I talked with the guy at Mac's about the extra fitting on the neck. I was under the impression that it is still a closed system. The neck that the rad cap screws onto they out-source, and this part just comes with the extra fitting. When/if the jeep overheats the rad cap pops{and I guess exposes the outlet?} and the excess fluid drains out. I asked him if I should plug it and he said no. Just run a small line to the "ground" and be done with it. I hope you can figure it out. Good luck - Rich -
Let us know if you head up that way again. I have been looking to check that place out. There are a few of us within driving distance of Dunnellon. - Rich

Ordered the Mac's fill tank today. I don't think it will be here in time to install with the new radiator? I will let you all know how it works out  - Rich

I just checked out both of your pictures. Dayem, those are nice looking! I am going to go back and read through them because I can't figure out the need for the overflow bottle? I am going to call them in the morning and order one. I went with the closed CSF radiator because the guy at ??? told me that the open were on back order. He also said that CSF was going to discontinue production on those and pursue making the plastic end radiators ( they cost 40% less to make). He did have the closed unit in stock - imagine that. I ended up getting it at Radiator Barn, we will see how that works out. Much respect to you and PIKE for the clean install - Rich

:D That is a great idea. I will start doing that now - Rich

That just freekin sucks man. Were the keys in it? It was a nice looking truck. Best of luck - Rich -
Thank's for all the replies. I broke down and ordered a new CSF radiator. I may even end up getting that aluminium bottle too PIKE. Chico is that the same one you bought? And what do you think of it - worth the money? I can't believe that the Caddilac converter caused your overheating Hornbrod  . Mine was MIA when I got it. Must have been a drawn out process to solve that one. Aemsee, all I can say is that I hope it is the right one  . If I am still having problems after the new rad, I will be replacing it with a OEM thermostat. Good luck to everyone in the same boat and Thanks again for all the replies - Rich

I am pretty frustrated :headpop: . I get the jeep lifted and I can't make it 3 miles without overheating. I would like to know what it took to get your overheating issues cured. What I have done to my 89 Renix 4.0: I have replaced the thermostat, Top hoses, Serpentine belt, Temperature sensor for the electric fan (still doesn't work - have it bypassed with a switch), Temperature sending unit on the block, Changed the fan clutch, Thermostat and added two small holes in the thermostat per 5-90 on NAXJA, The bottle and cap with what looks like a newer design. I burped the system as best I could by jacking the rear end up as high as the jack stands could go. Ran the jeep until hot. Then I removed the temperature sending unit on the block to let out the air and to add more fluid – not needed. How many times do I need to perform this stunt to be sure the block has been burped? History – The jeep never ran “cool” but was always within the safe zone and this was without the electric fan. It wasn’t until I changed the thermostat (without holes) and bottle that the real overheating began. I thought it maybe it was the cap on the bottle, so I added a hose clamp to it - no more leaking but still overheats. Today, after I added the improvements (new hoses, modified thermostat, fan clutch, and belt) I burped the system and went for a drive. The thing starts to heat up with the electric fan on. I pull over and turn it off to let her cool down. I get back in and it won’t start - not even a click? Pop the hood wait ten minutes and it starts - is this just because the starter is over heated? My questions are - Is it time for a new radiator? Could it be the new thermostat? Should I stay with the closed system, or go to the open system? Help - Rich

Bunny on Bunny violence, what a shame. Did I hear Peanut make a Predator type noise before the attack  ? I am with Mitch, that just freaked me out. Cute fellow though. You shouldn't have a problem finding a home for him/her.

Definite improvement 8). Looks good - Rich

Wingtime made good on his promise! I showed up at the shop today and he fixed my broken shifter 8) . Couple of shot of the jeep @ the shop -> I ground down the old threads that were left over and set down some protective cover -> I cut off the top of the new bolt then grab it with the vice grips so I could set it into place -> Wingtime ready at the helm -> And the piece was welded in without a single hole in the upholstery -> I screw on the new shifter knob and secured it with the lock nut -> Wingtime had a few projects going on down there. A sweet FC150 just waiting for a mild lift and 33 inchers -> OJMG87’s nineteen eighty seven YJ {original owner} with a new Chevy RamJet 350 crate motor, B&M 350 trans, f&r Currie 9 inchers, 33 inch BFG’s, and the list of goodies goes on -> Thanks Wingtime for welding the shifter and grillin-up the grub. - Rich

No i mean the LCA....see how its canted at an angel? Thats gonna tear that bushing up in no time unless they are made to do that :dunno: Yeah those are those monster crush bushing's they be fine or flex joint i think is what they're called Mini is correct - "Super-Flex Control Arms feature our rebuildable spherical bearing assembly. This bearing allows extra flex for off-road ..." I took the picture right after I had the pipe wrench on the LCA lock nut. I guess it turned the control arm a bit  . Thanks for pointing that out, I will have to fix that this week
