  1. well unless the sale was "juiced" (when deadbeats drive up the price but don't buy) that is just ridiculous.
  2. hmm future ebay posting.... 1988 jeep MJ commanche ...2.5ltr 4 cyl 4spd manual 4x2. vehicle runs great. has a little rust-through. was formerly owned by and elderly gentleman. i bought this as a project vehicle and have run out of room... other comanche's in similar condition go for $7,000+ I'm setting the reserve at $4,000 which is a steal ....happy bidding! HA!!!!
  3. hey how much of a P.I.T.A is it to change the pass side front fender????? what is involved?
  4. my 88 doesn't have headrests I love walking though junkyards...every car has a story behind it.

  7. ifixit ....that was a sidekick ... it replaced the samurai... but i get your point oddly enough it didnt look like he busted anything. But a landing that hard had to break something. he hit tree branches that were at least 12 ft up.

    towing

id call u-haul first before a do anything, they are very anal about your equipment even though a Comanche could very easily handle the task if the 2 vehicles are close in weight u-haul will not rent you the equipment. i tried this with my S10 and they said since they are too close in size they would not rent it to me. .....tell them you are pulling a Geo metro or a smart car.

    wrangler???

talking about ride... if every you wanna get expensive. someone makes (made) a coil spring conversion for the wrangler. I myself, prefer the leafs however,if it is stock i would add a leaf if you are planing on leaving it stock height as the stocks can sag

    wrangler???

ahh don't sacrifice a j-truck. The wrangler i had was one of the funnest vehicles i ever owned. I had a 1993 with a 4.0 5spd, i rammed a car with it, righted a chevette with it (pulled it back onto its wheels) removed small tree stumps and shrubs with it. That thing was a Tank! Pay very close attention to the rust and the frame. for some odd reason the 93 and 94 models are more prone to rot. i don't know why. Maybe crappy undercoating those years??? The frame on mine cracked between the steering box and the front shackle.
  11. I GOT A FEEEEEELIN PITTSBURGHS GOIN' TO THE SUPER BOWL!
  12. the xj was too reliable probably. When i was a ford service adviser we periodically had designers and engineers come in. I had an engineer tell me to my face that "the 300 inline 6 was replaced with the 4.2 because the 300 was too reliable". i had always heard of that but i didn't believe it till then!

    your first car

    girsm....that 91 is gorgeous
  14. abuse, meaning never change the oil, constantly run it a t high rpm, tow heavy loads, or wheel it. when i worked at GMI our drilling foreman had a 1998 V6 4x4 f150 he put 50k on his trucks per year. By 160,000 it was blowing 1 1/2 quarts per day out the tailpipe. he only changed his oil every once in a while and treated the truck more like an atv. he thought it would hold up like his previous truck which was a 1994 with a 300ci inline 6. That truck left his hands at 450,000 miles and then became our lab truck until the ball joints went bad. The 300 is (imo) one of the top 4 engines ever made. I have heard stories of that engine being run with no oil, starting after being submerged etc. that is not to say that there arent good parts to the motor.... like i said it has got balls. It is faster and torquier (sp) than the 302ci v8. but, treat it right and you have nothing to worry about.
  15. aww now the gears of imagination are turning... Comanche dually(it was done once it can be done again!) with a 4bt...hmmm
  16. was at barnes and noble today and was flipping through the "History of Jeep Part 2". and found a paragraph that blatantly states that the Comanche was axed because it was a competitor to the Dakota! finally someone admits to one of Chryslers big mistakes.
  17. as a Ford/Jeep guy, i can tell you the Fords are damn good trucks...and the V6 that is in the truck feels like its a V8 however it is no where near as reliable or long-lasting as the old 300ci in-line six in the 19xx-1996 150's. A word of advice, check/change the oil regularly and don't abuse it. By no means am i saying you got a bad truck, just that the V6 is a little more delicate.

    your first car

everyone that could find a pic of their first so i found on of mine at one point. i went to a jeep101 and the chrysler rep was a lil stunned by the color .. called me a week later and told me that was the rarest jeep color combo ever made.
  19. Bad @$$! the 4bt, i wonder if that is the same engine CME uses in some of their trailer-mounted core drilling rigs. (i used to do that for a living) if that is the case then you should be able to bold that engine up to a certain ford 4speed transmission. if in fact you can it may make a conversion a little easier. I wonder also if a small Deutz Diesel could be used?
  20. better yet if i win the lottery I'm gonna start a company and start stamping beds, rockers and cab corners!

    your first car

what was everyones first car/truck? i'm talking something that you drove, not a garage queen. my first car was a 93 XJ country 4x4 in Navajo turquoise and gold . i bought it off my mother. i beat the living crap out of it (hell i was eighteen). and it just kept begging for more. sold it with 105 on the clock because i found a wrangler i liked... wish i would have kept it ... i had the pleasure of seeing it again last weekend .. its still on the road...8years later ... a lil rusty but still running!
  22. hey! if i win the lottery I'm gonna buy every MJ i can get my hands on!
  23. how do you do that swap? where do you get the engine?
  24. well this should be interesting to say the least. but having a plow means the ball joints will be bad soon enough and from the looks of it in needs new shocks or springs. The plow can't be that heavy!
