I've been slowly working my way through the dash replacing bulbs and generally just exploring to learn. Yesterday, I was pulling and replacing fuses while working on the radio. When I pulled the one for the clock and put it back, the clock did not work. It has power because the bulb lit up, you know, the one I excitedly replaced a few weeks ago that gave me a simple pleasure to have the clock work. So, hopefully someone can tell me there is a simple reset button or function. I tried pushing the hour and minute adjusters but otherwise did not see anything else.

you can't push them with a pen or pencil, its a bent paperclip only item.

 

it may seem like you pushed them but only a paper clip or something small like that will do it.

 

EDIT:

or are you saying you have NO numbers visible? even a clock with no bulb will show numbers in the right light, it may need replacing.

yes, no numbers showing at all. i know what you're saying about seeing the numbers in the right light. it would just piss me off that right after i pull apart the dash and put in a new bulb the actual clock goes. but more importantly, it was working right before i pulled the fuse and replaced it, and it was the correct amp fuse, i.e. not like it was a 30amp in place of the 10 and fried it. pissed............

I guess you could try re-inserting the fuse again. That sucks, I'm trying to figure out the illumination of my clock that I just put it. Currently its on in the background to keep time. I turn the key it lights up. I turn on the lights, it turns off.

Maybe try disconnecting your neg battery cable for a couple minutes? Not sure what that would do, besides give you something to try.

check the wiring from the plug to the harness i had to change the wires around to get it to work. i just have one issue left. when i turn my headlight knob to put the interior lights on it goes out. i think its one more wire i have to change.

The variety of clocks used throughout the years was numerous; all were flakey until Seiko finally got it right in 1991+. It's the brightest, most reliable, and is easily adapted to earlier models.

Wahoo... I'll get you another clock,, might be able to get the 91+ one for you if you want to deal with the wiring.. I didn't know there were 4 different kinds of clocks though..

Daymed if I know. 8) I've got some 91 extras too if needed. Wiring is easy, they're all interchangible. No pigtail though, have to hardwire it in.

JT, sit tight on that other clock. Hooked up the temp unit you sent me and it isn't the clock. Yours did the same as mine, back light worked but no ticker. I haven't done any other troubleshooting yet. Seems like that would point to an individual wire on the clock harness having gone bad.

 

Thoughts or suggestions anyone?

Well if it all started when you were pulling fuses and reinserting them, then I would expect that maybe something within the fuse block got messed up. I've read about some who block got messed up due to contamination once I was pulling fuses and when I reinserted it managed to push out one of the contact perhaps something like that happened.

I meant if you don't have a clock is the wiring and plug already in the dash? I want to add one to my truck.

 

If no power after then it sounds like maybe a wire came loose or maybe a solder contact. Are any of the wires soldered to the contact board on the back of the clock?

yes, pigtail should be there for you to add a clock.

 

yes, jiggled each wire going in to the clock thinking the same thing, that a wire broke off the circuit board. all good......

Have you checked with a meter on each wire of the Molex connector to verify the correct signal is there? Somethings missing on one of the wires; I suspect the switched 12V signal. Gojeeps site lists the connector color codes and what's supossed to be on each wire for all the clocks.

Why don't you plug it into your other Jeep to verify the clock is okay? Doesn't everyone have more than one?
