Fella caught this last week in Willamette River in Oregon City. Took 4 guys over 6 1/2 hours and 4 dz beers to reel it in. Weighed in at 1000#, had a 56" girth and 11' 1" long, estimated to be around 100 years old. It probally pumps out 55 gal drums of caviar at a shot. Oh, they let it go back. Image Not Found[/img]

I wonder what they caught this one on? I couldn't help but notice the size of the mono on the rig the guy in the pic is holding.

squid, smelt, shad, or eel maybe? those are real good baits for sturgeon. i might go sturgeon fishing with my dad tomorrow, since i didn't go today.

that article & pic was posted in the Oregonian News Paper out of Portland OR so I'm inclined to believe it as they are only a couple miles from Oregon City where the fish was supposedly caught. But what the hey, its one big fish unless some skeptic can prove it's a doctored photo. Anythings possible these days.

I'm glad to see they released it. :D
