Eagle
In a defense on their behalf when they refer to hitch steel they may just be putting it into simple terms. Since most people that would buy rock rails may not have or trust theire fabbing skills to make them their selves and thus not really know what it was if they wrote grade b box steel. The steel used in hitch tubes and drawbars ain't special. Most folks would be sufficiently impressed if they just cited the fact that they use 1/4" wall tube and the competitors use (according to them) 1/8" all tube. (Actually, I think a lot of them use 3/16" but it has been awhile since I compared specs.) They didn't call it "hitch steel" to simplify anything. They created a meaningless term to make their use of ordinary steel tube sound special.
Drahcir495
Thanks for the back-up......figured I'd get back here & find a bashing. :USAflag: I don't think we are a bashing sort of group. I am glad you are offering us options for our LWB trucks. If it's all the same to you, I'd much rather just go up to Logan Steel on a Saturday morning and see what's in the scrap bin. Who knows? Maybe I'll score a length of outer hitch steel tube. 87manche
to go off topic, My rails were originally intended for a Yota truck, they're 78 inches long and have four standoffs and pinch seam mounting. There's some pictures around here somewhere. I know they're oin NAXJA.

87mjdriver
Now this is awsome, sounds like we are close to some fab work. and we got some good feedback on L/B rails. Mark, looks like you are going to have a waiting list for these rails before you ever get them fabbed. I 'd like to be put on that list! :D on a side note I can't really tell in the pic but do the rails you have now stick out far enough to be used as a step? allen

Detour
Detours fab's most everything to order, parts/pcs to create an assembly are in stock & ready to go.......but fabbing the actual product is done on a per order basis. If......you were to call & order telling me you'd like the sylder to stick out an extra inch or so.....its typically not a problem, I've done this for the XJ crowd in the past. :D

Eagle
The LWB Comanche sheet metal isn't perfectly straight, but the chassis is. Detour grumbled a bit about having to massage the lower rear quarter panels ... but he took the truck away, so there is now a template for him to work with. The rock rails won't be the problem -- he needs to get the lower rear quarter panels back into shape because of how tightly the rear bumper extensions fit to the body. Start saving your pennies, folks. LWB parts will be coming your way soon.
Detour
Yup....Thanks to Eagle's MJ Recovery Yard....we have a doner, thankyou Eagle! (Not going to believe this, as I left the shop....one was put up for sale right down the road, LWB, I'll be looking at THAT one Monday as well) As mentioned, going to need a lil massaging on the sheet metal for the bumper area, remove what ever was living in it  , but other than that....looks good. rbostoncaxjmj
Thanks Eagle for helping us out LWB MJs! Keep us posted Mark - look forward to getting my hands @ installing your custom slyders and rear bumper on my MJ. Thx!
Detour
No problem......I have a couple custom commitments to get thru....then I'll be able to jump on it.. :D But....I did get to clean out the remnents of whatever was living in it, the hornets are now all moved out......it's in the shop, rear bumper's been removed & I have started on the massaging.......I now see why the upper wheelwells rot out............Slyders are going to be L O N G .... :chillin:
pingpong
I think the one I had on my bumper were like 26".. I am not sure, but they were way long :brows: Also if the MJ is going to be wheeled it needs to be pretty thick :brows: cause they will take a beating on the trail. There is some good video of me when I had a bed on my rig, and I shaved a rock a lil with my bumper

Detour
I must apologize for my absense, things are abit CrAzY... Theres been a steady river of orders coming in leaving little to no time to prototype. I've been down on help but now have atleast a new part timer to help out. Hopefully when things level out I'll be able to get these products jigged up and ready to role. If theres a SWB owner out there look'in for a rear bumper, I do have one here about ready to go, I was going to hold on to it, but its just in the way, drop me an email if you'd like more info. (info@Detoursusa.com) Hope to check back soon, Mark :USAflag:
