ghetdjc320 Posted July 31 Posted July 31 This is the cluster from my “Tomahawk” build. It took a very long time to source this and put together. This is the 91+ “HO” U.S. style cluster but with the matching uber rare 120mph speedo (not to be confused with the police package speedo which had the blue font). Took me a couple of years to just source the parts for this cluster. 88k miles showing on the speedo.

This is a somewhat rare UK spec version. The XJ police package speedo was blue/white and looked like the gauge font from the renix era to a degree.

Was a PITA to find years ago and had to have a friend in the UK buy the cluster and ship me just the gauges.

Then was a giant pains to get it here. But it’s one nice unit to have when it’s all said and done. Plus 88k original miles is nice
Chico Posted Wednesday at 04:34 AM Posted Wednesday at 04:34 AM Couple questions for you/ everyone on here.. I swapped a cluster like this into my 88 many years ago. Out of a "regular" Cherokee. If I remember correctly, it was a pretty much "plug-n-play". Would you know if this would work in an 89 Comanche and be a simple swap by chance? I remember the tough part years ago was cutting the bottom of the gauge (little rectangle) to see what gear the truck was in on the letters/numbers. I remember Hornbrod came up with something different that looked "nicer". I'll look up his old build later. Anyone one else have a good idea on what to do about what I just mentioned (showing what gear it was in)? I'm looking an at automatic. Anyone had any new good ideas or can point me at a post that's covered this? Thanks in advance! I'll take the cluster if anyone can confirm this will work on what I might have, after I actually get it tomorrow dude.
fiatslug87 Posted Wednesday at 05:26 AM Posted Wednesday at 05:26 AM This is not a simple plug and play for you since you have an ‘89 which is RENIX and this if for ‘91+ which is HO.
Chico Posted Thursday at 01:07 AM Posted Thursday at 01:07 AM Fiat, you are the man! Now, I just have to look around and find a junkyard 91+ HO, 4 liter, engine, engine wiring harness, dash wiring harness, front clip, air freshener, bucket seats, headliner, steering wheel, adjustable column, inside door panels, window cranks, and corresponding front dash pieces and I'll be good to go. NOT A PROBLEM! Thanks bud!

Chico Posted yesterday at 04:19 AM Posted yesterday at 04:19 AM Ok, so explain it to me slow because I'm not the brightest, and remember that as far a anything "mechanical", I'm re-learning everything from zero again. I buy 320's cluster , then get Boxy's conversion kit, and then I'll be able to use this cluster in my 89? That's what I'm understanding correct?

That’ll explain it way better than I can.
