I can see such but I am not entirely sure thats the case. One thing I did notice is that the PO replaced the carb for whatever reason with a rebuilt one from holley and I have what I can assume is the second carb for this car and the third is installed and running. As to what happened to the first one is unknown.

Since you have 3 carbs I would suggest pulling all the jets out of all of them and putting the smallest ones into the car. And seeing if that helps. Also look at the metering rods they can wear out as well.

One thing I do not like about the carb thats in the Eagle is that it looks like the protective housings for the mixture screws are broken off.

That is not a big deal. Those can be adjusted to help lean it out as well. If I remember correctly turn them in to go leaner and out to richen it up.

This is a good short write up on helping tune the BBD carb.

Well failed emissions, running rich based on the numbers. Gonna try to lean it out and try again with the Carter carb before committing to a carb swap.

Also found a nice pin hole leak in the power steering pressure hose. Glad it’s not the pump or the steering gear.

Addressed the sleeve that got mangled from the CV axle exploding.
Will need a new tie rod in the future.

Hooked up one of the tachs I have laying around and got the idle and stuff dialed in.

Now to address its cooling issues as the coolant has turned brown. Probably some build up inside.

And for your viewing pleasure, the really pristine 140k interior.

I knew that matchbox had released an Eagle 3 years ago but this year they released one with the same paint scheme as yours. I haven't found one in store yet but have seen a few on eBay.s-l1200.webp.0d5cf66946cd783e22d9d599eec3e9d4.webp

This is the only color scheme I don't have yet. I have brown with woodgrain and black with woodgrain. I am yet to see this one in stores either.

I’ve been on the hunt for this one and the 63 Wagoneer that’s out in two colors.

Got some stuff done. Now power steering hose is in, surface for both the valve cover and head are cleaned and prepped and ready to go on. Waiting on a new rocker bridge with stud for the cover. Not sure if I’m gonna replace the rear bridge just because of how much of a pita it was to get the cover off.

Also got the headlamp relay installed. At first it didn’t work right. Funny things happened, brights were dimmed or all four would be on regardless of if the headlamps or highbeams were engaged.

Thanks to @89 MJ and I, we were able to do some digging and found that the harnesses are known to come wired wrong. Fixed the wiring at the relays and connector to the eagle harness and we are in business! And damn are they bright!

I also had to rewire the relay harness I have on my Eagle.

It seems like it’s a problem with just the generic harness. Luckily it’s not to bad but if your expecting a plug n play, it can be a challenge. It did have me scratching my head for a couple hours.

More and more issues pop up. I expected such honestly. Anyhow, ive discovered the cooling system is blocked and the heater section isnt working. Thanks to a seized valve and plugged core. So driving anywhere presently isnt possible but will be soon. I also adjusted the timing cause it dawned on me that it was still set for high altitude vs sea level so I got that adjusted and hoooo boy did the eagle wake up.

Just be aware that the aftermarket heater cores are available but for some reason are shorter in one direction. Just use some foam to fill the gap. I used something similar to this. https://www.homedepot.com/p/M-D-Building-Products-2-25-in-x-42-in-Gray-Window-Seal-for-Window-Air-Conditioner-Weatherstrip-02535/100353457

You don't have to fully remove the dash to get the heater core out. Just remove the screw along the windshield and loosen the 2 bolts on the "A" pilar below the dash and pull the passenger side away from the fire wall and you will have enough room to the the HVAC box out. If you have AC it is 2 section one with the heater core and 1 with the AC evaporator. You don't need to remove the AC side the heater core side just slide outs.

Im hoping it doesn’t come down to replacing a core. Not really looking forward to such a thought. But I did run water through it and found no leaks inside. Rust chunks did come out of the core, most likely from the block.

I didn’t know that. That’s good to know. Hopefully I never need to experience that, but still good to know.

I got the valve freed up, it moves now, though still needs some help but that’s for the future.
Anyways I flushed the hell out of manifold. Ran brown red for a good 5 min.

Fast forward to tonight I got the valve back in, ran the eagle and it struggled to get to the middle of the gauge.

Both my dad's Eagle and mine never reach the middle of the temp gauge. The highest I have seen mine go the needle just barely got past the 2 blue lines in the logo. It usually sits about centered between 2nd white line and the blue lines of the logo. I will get a pic next time I drive it.

Great to know! I am glad I have a base line on what to look out for
