J33ps Posted September 3 Share Posted September 3 Hello everyone, I'm curious if anyone could suggest a kit of sorts. I bought the head unit: Pioneer MVH-S322BT and it's bluetooth which is all I really wanted and seems to work flawlessly. But the old speakers sound like sh*t haha and I can't hear it well on the highway so I think I need an amp. Everything is stock, don't think there's any tweeters and there's no rear speakers and no sub. So I was hoping someone could just give me the parts they used that all work together nicely. I'm not an audiophile, I just wanted something that sounds decent, has a little bass and some richness. I realize this is so opinionated, just my level of interest in learning audio equipment is like -1 haha I just want the mid range decent stuff that will all work together. I wish they'd sell a kit for a Comanche I'd just buy it for convenience. I also realize mixed reviews on running with no rear speakers, I'm fine going without those. Lastly, for context, my daily is an 04 TJ with 2 very dinky 60$ speakers I put in 15 years ago. They are complete sh*t, wanted the ol truck to be better than this XD. Budget is preferably 600 or so (already sourced the head unit) -- this number lands kind basic midrange for okay enough sound I'm guessing?? You can run a stock size 5.25 door speaker or you can run a 6.5 if your open to some slight trimming.some sound deadening in your doors will do wonders for any speaker you choose. Feel free to choose other speakers but this setup is a fantastic sound quality, quantity and bang for buck combo. You can run the tweeter in the woofer as a coaxial type speaker or split them and run the tweeter in the door or dash knee panel. You could definitely run the 6.5 version of this kit if you’re ok with some light trimming. I’d recommend going 6.5 if you’re skipping a sub for now. If you want better quality sound, grab some dynamite extreme and line the doors thoroughly. If you want to take things further from there, add the rear speakers since you’ll have the amp outputs already. But a 2.1 system with front components speakers and a single sub is really clean. Kedosp Posted September 3 Share Posted September 3 I have an Alpine UTE-73BT single din head unit. JBL’s best 5.25” door speakers (forgot model), and a bazooka 6.5” tube sub with built in 250w amp. This sub fits perfect behind the passenger bucket seat with it all the way back and is not tall so I can still put a small tool bag, or similar on top of it. It sounds great and has enough bass for the small cab. I Definitely recommend sound deadening in the doors, back wall, and above headliner if you ever take it out. If you want any decent bass, get a small sub. Even 6.5’s in the door aren’t going to cut it. EDIT: Forgot to mention, I set my fader all the way to the front and don’t use rear speakers. pizzaman09 Posted September 3 Share Posted September 3 Honestly, I replaced the front door speakers of my Comanche with some generic Pioneer replacements and put a new JVC head unit in, it's the best audio system of any vehicle I own. The rear speakers are original, and it gets more than loud enough. It's a small cabin, you don't need a lot of horsepower behind the audio system to fill it with sound. The truck has no carpet because of some rust issues. I have winter plans for the sound deadening. Good wire is expensive but install kits are a money maker, hence why they are expensive. Low R&D cost big mark up. Sell speakers and amps cheap up charge the install. Unless you're doing a competition system or a huge audiophile head some of the things get to be a waste IMHO. I used these guys after a few recommendations for speakers wire and install stuff. I buy the wire and crimp ends in bulk to do my own wires. That with some heat shrink tubing and I'm set. I'm not trying to do any show quality builds though the finished product tends to look pretty decent.
