AnotherOldJeepGuy
Thanks for that confirmation @ghetdjc320! I'll think about the rental so I can route the cable just in case someday I decide to try and debug the cruise also.
watchamakalit
In case you do. Here is the best walk through I have found. Although I can't report on it's effectiveness I'm still working on mine. https://naxja.org/threads/how-to-test-repair-renix-era-cruise-control.1160060/
pizzaman09
Yeah, it can be challenging to get the wire back down the column, I've been successful with the string method on my replacement stalk. It was still a very fiddly process.
89 MJ
What I've had good luck with is cutting the wire off of the thing in the column you are replacing, then tape your new connector to it, and pull the wire through the column. Most recently, I had to do it with my whole turn signal switch, but I'd think it should work for anything in the column.
AnotherOldJeepGuy
I replaced my stalk, but the cruise didn't get fixed in the process. However the other functions that were dead are now undead, and I should at least now know my stalk it not the issue. I don't know how far I'll dig into the cruise since I have lived without it, but thought I'd pass on what did get fixed, here's the details....
