RNMashups Posted January 18 Share Posted January 18 1988 Jeep Comanche 4.0L 2WD SWB 4.0L / Automatic / 2WD / OEM axles (Dana 35's?) / SWB Build date: I'll have to check this. I forgot to write it down. Current Location: Western New York Status: It runs and drives, but it is a project truck (my first ever project car). It's sitting at a relatives heated garage getting worked on when I can find the time! I want to keep it as original as possible. Nothing crazy. Just as clean as possible with a few upgrades to make it more comfortable to drive. Notes: It's a bare bones automatic Comanche as far as I know. It's got the bench seat, but I recently swapped that out for bucket seats. I believe the truck has been white this whole time, but it's been painted over a few times...and not well. The interior is the less common blue color which makes finding interior trim difficult. The floor pans were replaced with street signs by the previous owner as you can see. It gets the job done but I will probably try replacing them soon enough. I was told it was a farm truck for a little while and it was at this time it sustained its damage. The B-Pillar, rocker and passenger door have a big dent in it from a t-bone accident at slow speed. Luckily, there is no frame damage and the frame is shockingly clean for being in New York. It seemed like it had solid potential so I snagged it for 1,500 bucks last April. Current owner: Haven't transferred the title yet, but it'll be in my name and at a relatives house until I get it to where I want it. Then it'll come home with me. Yes, Navy is a complete pain to try to find parts for. I've been searching for a set of Navy buckets for a couple of years. It was an 88-89 only interior color, I believe. That's assuming I can get the navy blue color (or something similar) that actually works well. It seems the posts I've read about painting trim have mixed results. I'm not a welder, so I was going to leave the floors alone. But now I'm thinking I can use 3M body panel adhesive and rivets on a new floor pan and not regret it. You can dye other interior pieces to match. I dyed a grey dash in my truck to match 3 years ago and its held up beautifully. I used SEM and a spray gun, but you can do aerosols as well. I've already purchased a KeyParts cab corner for the passenger side damage. It definitely felt well made when I got it. Now I just gotta save up for those floor pans.
