Hey;

I posted in the "Pub" earlier about trying to fix this thing, but after taking to the mechanic a bunch, I really can't afford it.

I bought this truck in 2021  and it ran fine until a heat-wave about 3 weeks ago. I drove it home and it ran hot, but because they radiator was so clogged, the temperature gauge wasn't registering until it was too late.  I don't have the money to replace the engine, and the Mechanic won't just replace the gasket & head, he insists on leaving his shop "either running as it should be, or just as it it came in here."

Summary:
Body is good, electronics all work. Some minor surface rust, but all in the bed , not in the body, undercarrage wheel areas .

It can limps across a parking lot / onto a tow truck, but not hightway ready. shot. Engine overheated and runs rough, and needs to be replaced or rebuilt.  The Radiator is gunked up / needs to be replaced.   Come with a free bedliner & bed cap.

The Mechanic it landed at has offered me $800 for it, but will probably part it out.  He is full supportive of someone else getting it, his is a 'fallback no-work' offer.

I am offering it here as-is, $800 or a best offer (OBO) by Sept 9th (Monday) evening. Truck is Located in West Chester PA.

( Photos coming this P.M. )

I’m out. My mom isn’t doing well and I just found out today that I’m losing my job. Thanks for letting me know though.

That's too bad. Sorry to hear that. I'll be thinking of you.

  • Far McKon changed the title to White good condition 88' low rust, engine blew this summer $800

Has a dual diaphragm booster + master from 96, and open converted with a fill cap. Looks like its running renix electronics. No AC, but dang at $800, that's a hell of a deal. This is a survivor. It's a crime to part it out.

@fiatslug87 you're right, it's an 89! no c101 bracket

What are the miles on the cluster (legal miles)?

Thanks.

This is an 89 with the correct VIN 1J7FJ26L9KL616623 on the door, not the dash. It is lacking the C101 an ‘88 should have.

Curious how you located the VIN? Not arguing, just don't see it in the pics posted.

I agree that it would be a real shame for this truck to be scrapped.

This was one of those Registry entries that did not make sense and required a little investigation. The last piece of the puzzle is in the above pictures.

YOU. GUYS. ARE. DOPE.

Amazing how well and fast you filled in the details there. God, wish I posted more did that earlier.

I have a nephew who wants it, and will put some work into it.  Working out details with him. Hopefully we can avoid the crime of parting it out.

This sounds like a win to me. A comanche in the family, stays in the family :D

Seriously, if your nephew starts working on it, he is more than welcome to ask any questions about it on here. The guys on here are walking jeep almanacs. Some even have the bolt part numbers memorized. It's both incredible :banana: and spooky :eek:
