Aftermarket LCA's?

Recommended Posts

I know the WJ arms are a popular upgrade for allowing tires to clear without rubbing, but are there any curved tubular options available? All the old threads I've read have dead links to products that don't exist and I can't seem to find any bent inwards in my searches.

I've had the Core4x4 tier one lower and uppers on my truck for about 3 years now. The bushings are still perfect and the threads are great, but the powder coating is chipping off a bit. That's also with probably 15,000 miles, some of it seeing snow and salt.

I would definitely buy them again.

It looks like the Mj ones are bent downwards, not inwards. Do you have any issues with rubbing on these? Or do they have enough clearance

The biggest thing the WJ arms get you is they’re fully boxed, don’t have the _/¯\_ shape with the edges sticking out to catch your tires. The swoop in the middle only helps so much. Most aftermarket tubular control arms will be even smaller.
That’s not to say there aren’t still lots of trucks with aftermarket wheels or spacers to push the tires even further away.

The core 4x4 WJ arms fit on a Comanche. I put them on mine. They use the same ends as the xj/mj ones. They come with spacers to account for wider bushings on the WJ. Just don't use the spacers and you are good to go. They don't curve down only in so if you want some extra flex you will need to trim the lower shock mounts a bit.

The bend gets installed facing down like a U. Helps the arm not bottom out on the mount/axle when the axle is drooping on taller lifts.

I have no rubbing with 31s on factory 15x8s.

I have the CORE Stage One on my '00 XJ, 31's and 2" lift. Ran them for two years. Good quality, good price. I did replace the lowers, as I thought the bushing had blown out. No, so. I had JKS ones on my '98 XJ. Good product, more expensive than the COREs.  I did have to replace bushings. I went through severe DW issues. I did use the rebuilt lowers to replace the COREs. Again, it was not needed. I do have RC control arms. These are older ones, so they might have redesigned them. The Upper end to the axle is only 1/16 sheet metal. So, they wallowed out some. I did have Ruff Stuff ends welded on them. They are one my '98 XJ. I plan to sell it.

There are other aftermarket control arms out there. Probably a bit better than the CORE stage 1's. How much better?  ???. Also, your intended usage. I am going Long Arm on 2 of my XJs. Not sure which set of long arms will go on the MJ. The CORE has a bit thicker UCA end than the JKS. 1/4 vs 3/16. The JKS has a Johnnie joint. Yeah, replaceable.  I sort of want to try the Metal Cloak Dura joints.

Looks like the "cruise" tier one upper and lower bundle is 319 on their website. Howhas the handling on the truck improved with them?

Looking at their website, it seems like they've changed their design since I bought them. Mine are press in OE style rubber bushings, they make them with greaseable polyurethane now.

That said I have no complaints about them. 3 years and 15,000 miles and I didn't feel like I needed to change the bushings when I had them off 2 months ago. I also haven't had any issues with handling, or getting it aligned. Swapping in new control arms should always improve handling if they're the correct length.
