Virginia
The female part of the driver's side seatbelt is broken. Second time I will have had to replace it. Is the seatbelt brand specific or will any seatbelt work?

Is the seatbelt brand specific or will any seatbelt work? Given that your vehicle is 32 years old, I would strongly consider replacing the seatbelts for both seats. Heat, sunlight, and time all cause the belts to deteriorate (as you have discovered.) There are lots of aftermarket brands of seatbelts out there than will function as replacements, but both the male and female sides must be replace together, as there is no "standard" pattern between the two halves of the connection. I used these guys when I put in new belts: https://www.seatbeltsplus.com

big66440
which part number did you guys use? I need to replace the seat belts on my Comanche as well.
Virginia
The set I got don't fit. I'll give you the part number when I get the right one.
Virginia
Also, this happened. When was taking out my seatbelts, I had to cut the wires that come from between the seats to the female side of the seatbelts. After that, my radio and clock don't work. Every thing else does. I check the fuses to each and their fine.
Pete M
if it's not power, then it's a missing ground.
Virginia
I can reattach the wired and plug it into the seatbelt. I guess the bolt on the seatbelt was the ground?
Pete M
if it was, I would add an extra ground to the dash (straight from the battery) and tie in an extra ground wire to the harness in the dash.
Virginia
The green and green/black striped wire went to a plug connection that I had to cut in order to get the old seatbelt off. I thought I kept it but didn't. The black wires with the connector stil attached fed to the old seatbelt but for the life of me, I can't figure out what it attached to. I still don't have radio or clock.
Pete M
pretty sure those 2 wires go to the seatbelt.
Virginia
They went to the old one but not the replacement. I'm trying to figure out why my radio and clock stopped working after I clipped the green and gree/black striped wires.
Pete M
the replacement doesn't have the seatbelt warning switch built in? that's... weird. I'm going to change up the title and see if we can get more eyeballs on this issue.
Pete M
have you pulled the radio and tested for power and ground at the connector? that might help figure out which path to take from there.
Virginia
So, the radio and the clock worked just fine until I clipped the wires to the seatbelt and then both of them stopped working. They don't share a fuse and I've checked both of those. I can pull the radio and check but have no idea how to check the power at the clock. I suppose I'd have to pull the dash. Quite frankly, I'm that ambitious. I can live without both but it seems to me that the no power is related to the wires that I clipped.

schardein
Do you have a warning buzzer installed? It is a black or blue box just to the driver side of the fuse box.
