Under dash courtesy lights

Does anyone have a diagram on how these are mounted. I didn’t even know Comanches had these. I would like to pick up a pair but I’m not quite sure how they mount. Thanks guys

Sounds good. Where they install and how?

They install on the ends of the lower dash panel. You can see the hole for the passenger side but you can’t see the drivers side because it’s hidden under the ebrake handle.

Lol nice. I recommend pulling the lower dash to install them so you can see the alignment notches but you can install them without removing the panel too.

Keep in mind the connectors changed in the 90 model year. See this thread.

I'll go ahead and throw this info out there.  Along with the different wiring plugs, the mounting brackets were also different.  However, they interchange and mount the same way.  

Some other tidbits of knowledge, the brackets used a hex head screw on the early models, 1984-86ish.  1986ish and later used a Philips head screw.  The very early models I have found (84-85) used two black wires instead of the pink and black wires on later ones.  Again, everything interchanges except for the wiring plugs (84-89) & (90-96).

Can someone tell me if these are in the right location. Pretty sure the passenger side is. I’m not sure about the drivers side but there was already a hole there. As you can see at least 1 has light.

Driver side is not. The hole for it is under the ebrake release handle.

Well hell. Lol. You have a picture? If it’s where I think it might be how in the heck you get to it.

Just gotta remove the release handle screws. Once the handle is out of the way the hole is accessible.

Well I got it all fixed and switched around. I turned the bracket basically upside down and it put the light up underneath more. The passenger side was down below and could have got kicked. I put 921 bulbs in and it looks great

What’s neat is if you were to remove the lower dash, there’s a little prong that sticks up that lines up with the fork on the mounting bracket.

Believe it or not I got both to line up without removing it. I cheated and used my phone to take a picture  lol

I think that was before I tightened it or switched it around.

Yep, in this picture that bracket is upside down from what it should be.  Sounds like you have it corrected now.  The mounting hole is concave on one side, the concave side should face the kick panel, putting the light out of sight, above and behind the panel.

That’s what I figured when I was done. Didn’t take me long to move. Just a bit of a contortionist. I was pretty excited about installing these for some reason. Lol
