Noendnsight Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Does anyone know where I can find a harness plug pin type master list? I'm trying to rewire my harness completely and I'm looking for info on how to remove the pins from the connectors and what type to buy for complete replacement using the same factory original plugs. I guess if there is a list of those for new replacements would be great too. I tried under the electrical master list and couldn't find it.
eaglescout526 Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Pics of said plugs? There’s some you can get new and there’s some you can’t get anymore.

I really don't need the plug/connectors I don't think anyhow. I'm primarily interested in the pins that go into firewall connection and probably whatever I find at the other ends of the wires if they need replaced as I trace and replace wire. I have many bad spots from what appears from a fire from the last owner as well as critter food in other spots. It basically has many bad spots. I figure any harness at this point is over thirty years old. It wouldn't be that hard to just lay it out on a bench and repair one wire at a time. I'm after new pins and the removal/install process as well of any specific tools required.
87MJTIM Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 You can de-pin the connector and try to identify the type. The three common connector in the Jeep are: Packard, Metri Pack, and Weather Pack. Search on Del City (delcity.net). Search for other suppliers on line also. Del City did not list the proper size pins. (Pins are measure by width. A Metri Pack 280 pin is 2.8 mm wide, not length.) Our Jeeps use ~1.5 or 150 (I think).

But the ones that are damn near impossible to find at the pack-cons or Packard connectors. I don't know why despite ever auto maker, at least GM used them but yet they can’t be found anywhere. Now you could always use a connector that is era correct in its place if it is destroyed but those use pack-con III terminals most of the time.
Minuit Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 And then there's the proprietary Chrysler connectors on 91s and 92s, and the weird, obscure French and other European connectors that don't have any markings on all years. Good luck with those.
Noendnsight Posted February 9, 2022 Author Posted February 9, 2022 Now I'm beginning to think this might not be as easy as I thought.
schardein Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 I can supply the Packard 56 female connectors in 12, 14-16, and 18 gauge sizes. These terminals are used in a few places, one being for the factory dash rocker switches like the fog light, cargo light, power/comfort transmission, etc. I can supply as many you may need. I also have the terminals that plug into the "power ports" in the fuse box, as well as the factory color-coded plastic connectors. I'm not sure if these terminals are used anywhere else on our MJs. Also, replacement connectors (with terminals, or with wiring pigtails) for the heater fan switch in the HVAC panel. I realize this is a very narrow range of what you are asking for, but thought I'd throw it out there nonetheless. You should probably just focus on any connector that appears bad. Take the harness out and ohm test wires from one end to the other. Replace only the ones that show problems. De-pin one wire at a time, clean it, then re-plug it in. Tedious and time consuming.
boxyjeep Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Good luck. The only way to find the connectors for the through-firewall harness is from another one. Very tough to find those pins anywhere online. Everything else is viable though.
