Found the Previous Owner!

Hey there! I just found this forum as I bought a 1988 Comanche (4x4, I6 4.0, Auto), and a ComancheClub.com card was inside.

I bought this in central Washington, and the guy I bought it from said he found it on a Phoenix-based marketplace in Arizona about a year ago. I've searched the VIN (1JTMP63P0JT090046) but don't see it in the registry. There's been a lot of work done on this puppy, and it looks super clean. The engine was rebuilt a few years ago so there's only around 40k(ish) miles on it. This is my all-time dream truck in my dream configuration!

Luckily I found the contact details of the guy in Arizona who did most of the restoration work on it, and just gave him a call. He said he'd like to see pictures of what it looks like now, and told me about this forum and that I should post them here. So here she is! I'm keeping this baby as pristine as I can.

Thanks man!

...now what? Post in the registry? Sorry if this post is in the wrong spot, I'm new here. Stoked to learn the ins and outs of this truck though!

@MJCARENA is the previous owner to that beaut. I have had the pleasure to stand aside it and have my truck next to it. I dislike the kid who talked the owner I knew down only to turn around and sell it again. But hey, do please stick around. We all loved(still love) that MJ and want to always see it alive and well!

I also stumbled across the person who sold my first MJ to the guy I bought it from. Despite the fact I'd bought it about 60 miles from home, it had belonged to the one of the ladies who worked at the coffee shop a few blocks away from where I was living at the time.

Funny how that works, sometimes. Several years ago a former girlfriend was looking for a used Cherokee. She had a budget, which was low enough that it couldn't buy a pristine example in top condition. I found one through classifieds, an '88 Laredo, that was being sold because it supposedly had thrown a rod. I went and looked at it, and I was convinced the knocking noise was a cracked flex plate, so I bought. My guess was right, so I replaced that, did some other repairs and improvements (the radio was gone, so I installed a new radio/CD player head), and drove it out to her in Montana.

Turns out the original owners lived on my street, about a mile from my house.

Back to the MJ: that's a beautifully pristine example of an early MJ. By all means, take care of it and keep it as original as you can.. I would love to own one that nice.

That's a great looking MJ you have there. I am very happy to see it finally ended up in the right hands. I was always worried that I would see it in a wrecking yard around here.

Yes, I did a lot of work to it, but it was pretty clean when I got it. Just made it better. For the fog lights, they will only come on with the low beams on. That is the way it works from the factory, from what I remember. Eagle Scout 526 helped me get some of the replacement parts for it. I am always thankful for his help. You should try to get the topper for it, as it was made for the Comanche. I got it from a guy that had a Comanche and got in a front end collision. I have 2 trophy's that it won at a local car show from 2012 and 2013. PM me your address if you would like to have them.  It was in the stock truck category. It was great talking to you and you made my day.

Looks like the original tires on it, you might want to change the tires out or have them checked, they are old and have been in the Arizona heat.
