Scammer Busted on FB Group All Things Jeep Comanche Buy\Sell\Trade BOLO

Well today was an interesting day on Facebook.  Had no plans to spend as much time there as I have today but such is life.

I wish I had more pics but things went south rather quick before I got pics.  Luckily a Fellow FB member gave up some pics and allowed me to use them here.  This morning I was looking at a pic of a good looking Tan MJ.  CLEAN!  Looked more like a 6 to 8k price tag Jeep with the two pics we got.  Poster said parting out due to bad engine.

First SEVERAL post are why are you parting out such a clean Jeep for a bad engine?!?  His response was "Frame Rot Real Bad."  Many posters were like "well depending on the scenario things can be fixed."  To me honestly it didn't add up.  It just looked TOO NICE for total rot.  Every time someone pressed he always had short answers.  So then of course the vultures started circling on parts and pricing.  He was vague with answers on prices too and some prices didn't jive.  It didn't add up.

I couldn't shake the frame thing, and as you guys know from the 18k post, @Pete M will tell you, even when it makes more financial sense I'm not about watching a good Jeep go to soup cans.  Honestly I suspected something wasn't right or he was a new Jeeper that needed "Educated."  So I decided to stop messing around and call him out, but more in an educational type way.  I explained to him the numbers on these Jeeps and that clean title ones are getting harder to find.  As forceful as I can without being rude I demanded to see the pics of the bad on the car.

A few hours later he sent not 1 but 3 mad responses.  First off he called me an "entitled little kid" and that he doesn't have to prove anything to me in his first post.  I can't remember what his exact words in the second post were and I can't make this up but he said something to the effect of "Why the hell are you caring how many are left? You are acting like there are less of these things than Ferraris out there?!  No one gives a crap about Jeep Comanches!"  And his final statement was "Go the hell home Boomer!"

I started reading more responses about how when buying parts he was getting them to pay for parts with PayPal using friends and family.  Even after the guy declined and said I'll add extra to pay the fees for you he still wasn't interested and he suddenly got belligerent with the guy on messenger.

I wish I could have all these comments back but right after I gave this response he blocked me.   It said something along the lines of " Pretty Brave words coming from the other side of a keyboard.  I'm 32 and not a Boomer or a kid.  I served 15 years in the Army so you can have the right to call me entitled. I worked for that so by no means entitled.  You obviously don't know what you have, a simple google search would tell you that ACTUALLY there are more Ferraris on the road in the US and Canada than Jeep Comanches.  And you don't know know what you have because the Jeep Comanche is a Unibody up front and frame on the rear.  And you said "Frame"  It doesn't normally just rot in the spots there is an actual frame.  If it's the floor board only it can be fixed!  You are DEAD WRONG about no one caring about the Jeep Comanche.  There is a forum website, clubs, and multiple FB groups dedicated to it and the community within it is strong.  I was hoping to get pics so that I could help you with your Jeep either by helping you find someone in that strong community to A help you get it repaired, or B find someone who might be interested in the bad chassis as is.  And now with you calling me out not once but 3 times and getting so worked up over pics I really do suspect (I did all along but hey give the guy benefit of the doubt) that you are lying to me.  Especially now that I'm seeing other posts that say that you are only accepting friends and family for payments in PayPal after someone is willing to pay fees.  Now that seems shady."

I never got a reply instead I thought he deleted the post, but a guy posted a pic I left below and I got in on it. He said what had happened and I then found out he didn't delete it but blocked me so I can't see it.  Mods caught it though and blocked him.  Come to find out he's lurking around all the FB vehicle forums requesting money like this in a shady way.  He's on the FB Tacoma pages and uses different variations on his name with multiple accounts.

BOLO So here's the pics along with his mug shot.  BE ON THE LOOKOUT.  If your on these forums dealing with people beware.  If you don't know people don't use Friends and Family on PayPal.

All this is up on FB right now if your in the group and wanna have a laugh.  If not it's not a bad place to be.

I actually saw that too and thought that was way too clean to be parting out. I wanted to post on it about that but many already had qnd I didn't want to get worked up with a guy who in my first impression didn't seem to care.

So good to know he's a scam artist.

I sure do hope that mj is not actually his and it's not being parted though!

Upon doing a little research the guy likes to use eBay listings to steal his pics and wonders over to FB to different FB auto groups and scams them.  Figure it's worth while to post in all my automotive circles cause he seems to float.  Who knows next thing you know he'll wonder into VW groups.

I mean seriously, the guy had to be trash.  He wanted $50 bucks for taillights!

Hey I took that first screenshot, that's me I'm Daniel lol. Glad I was able to get it before it was deleted.

And no that MJ was not his, it was from an article that was written about a cleaner survivor MJ.

Listen boss, I'm glad you did too.  If anyone has a foothold in other auto forums or especially other FB Automotive Groups I highly recommend getting the word out.  Too many people work to hard for what they have so this looser can come in and take it.

With the only exception being food to survive when ALL other legit resources are EXHAUSTED, there's nothing I hate more than a dang thief.

I'll definitely keep an eye out for him on the other pages I'm on. Unfortunately I've been burned a couple times, so I have zero respect for thieves.

has someone alerted facebook?  not that I think they'd really do anything useful, but it appears there's enough evidence to pass it along and see what happens.

You know that’s not a bad idea.  Just don’t know how to deal with him when it comes to Facebook directly.  Especially someone in my shoes that’s blocked.  I can’t even see he exist in Facebook anymore to report him.  He also apparently has multiple profiles.  He’s not dumb he’s just Has no patience with a temper.

He’s smart enough to know that if you are discovered, block someone quickly so they can’t see the post anymore.  And you can’t see the post because the person that blocked you created it.  Once you can no longer see the post you can’t comment on it or report the listing, and it makes it hard to warn other buyers.  Unless you make a whole other post in the group yourself and post stuff like this like what happened today.

I can't even find the post so it might be gone. :dunno:

out of curiosity, does he show up under your list of "blocked" people on FB?

No he’s not on my list.  He blocked me.  He was blocked from the FB group by the group moderators.  That most likely deleted his post.

This is why he’s smart.  He gets caught and then he gets blocked.  Once he’s blocked all his post with all his evidence goes away within that group.  Others in the group over the next few days won’t see it outside of the cases someone makes a separate post like our group did.  I bet I’m still blocked personally by him.  So if for example, I’m in a Subaru or Volkswagen FB group as well I’ll never see that he’s posting there to warn others to not trust him or kick him out unless I cold post like this.  Seems like all you can do.
